  • Dualit classic kettle review. Quiet kettle. Fast boil but is it worth £130?

Bought one a month or so ago despite this review. After owning many kettles in my 76 years I am happy to say this is the best one I've ever owned - and though the most expensive ever, worth every penny. Yes the pouring rate is slow, but it stops me overfilling things and slows my heart rate as I wait patiently for it to empty!

Thanks so much for saving me the headache and expense of buying this kettle. I had - mistakenly - thought it would be the same standard as the Dualit toaster.

Fantastic review. Looking to buy a quiet kettle. This helped a lot. Shame they haven’t put as much effort into their kettle as they have their toaster

Only issue that I found relevant to me was the pouring issue. Hmmm. A kettle this expensive should not have issues with pouring. Thank you for the demo.

Put the kettle under the tap before turning the tap on.

Normally would agree but I only had one hand spare for this demo due to phone in the other. This also happens on other days when I make tea and am on the phone etc.

Tip. Buy a Tesco special for a tenner. If it fails you almost certainly will be able to repair it yourself or just buy another one.. With the Dualit you will have to return it to their service department.. The combined switch/element unit will almost certainly need replacing at a cost of £54 ( as of January 2024) and you will be without a kettle for about 3 weeks.

I nearly bought this and then read your review. I have opted for another kettle. Not impressed.

Would you mind telling me if it's cool, warm or hot on the outside after it's just boiled?

Its hot. Very hot. This kettle does not have thermal walls. Previous to this I had a Magimix thermal-walled kettle and you could lift it up in your hands whilst it was on the boil which was a great peace of mind with small children. It was a great kettle apart from the lids kept breaking and after the fourth one in as many years I gave up on it and bought this one. Then I got rid of it straight away on account of the poor pouring ability. It just fills the work surface with boiling water. The spout is useless and without features like thermal walls it just isn't worth the high price tag. Fast boil but not as quiet as the manufacturer claims (probably on account of the lack of thermal walls).

Thanks David, very helpful. I'll be on the hunt for thermal walls alongside everything else that has to match up, not an easy find.

We had one of these for about 2 years . Totally useless!
Very bad handle design, you burn your hand with steam as you pour out the water , and it’s very difficult to hold on to. Ours lasted 2 years and then burned itself out . AVOID
