I'm in contact with a UK importer/upgrader of chinese machines in the UK and am speccing up a 120w machine complete with cooling, air assist & filtration system that thanks to you I have insisted on. I have asked for upgraded motors too. It's a complete turn-key solution and while costly, it's going to be worth it. The level of explanation you give is extraordinary. I now realise by spending treble my original budget I will have a machine that will be well supported and will work from day 1 (installation software, and training) and by watching your vids I avoided wasting £3000 I was about to drop without understanding many of the pitfalls. Please keep making these instructional videos. They really are excellent.

I never appreciated the wooden frame CNC or all the talk about the new popular CNC machines that costs under $3K which everyone have in their home garage which uses belt driven rails. Now I am confused why precision machinists never talks about doing woodworking... because there is a huge market for precision 3D wood carvings.
Actually USB data transmission is NOT synchronized, while the old port used for printers (centronics 25 pin parallel port) IS. So, to be honest, the old ports are far more suitable for driving mechanisms or devices in real-time. USB ports are far superior in terms of trasmission speed, but rarely you need to send several megabyte per second to a cnc router... To summarize, not always what is "new" means also "better".
Since this video Roger got rid of Mach 3 / 4 and now uses a dedicated offline CNC controller. That makes more sense to me. I used to work on a HAAS machine and that's how they work (basically). You have a small, dedicated box that boots instantly running G-Code instead of a computer with fairly expensive software.
Being a digital 3d sculptor, i have recently moved into CNC and 3d printing and started to create bespoke digital 3d relief sculpts specifically for CNC, just need to build up experience on the CNC machines :) great channel and much information to digest, thanks :)
i work a masterwood project 351....9meters long virtical axis has 25 tools , horizontal has front/back cutters for locks and hinges, then a rotating c axis , ive made a bowl on my old machine just using vertival axis but not really had a chance toplay with this new 1
can some one please help ...iv bought a 6090 machine i have built it iv installed mach 3 im using a windows 10 laptop but its not doing anything at all as in when i tell mach 3 to start the spindle nothing is happening when i try to jog the machine in mach 3 it doesn't respond ...some help please what I'm i missing im using the usb cable they supplied ...thanks
just something i see on your cnc is maybe move the spindle motor up as much as you can in the clamping mount so you don't have as much hang out from the main mount plate would smooth out your cuts as it would be more ridged :)
Great explanation of what a good CNC router should consist of. The best communication between computer and router is actually the use of an ethernet cable. Also Mach 3 and 4 are good but can be buggy at times. WinCNC, Centroid Acorn and few others have more advanced features than Mach. I'm just putting my 2 cents into your guide to buying a CNC router.
I wish there was more information avalible about this style of CNC machine. Every forum post is either something like "I bought the machine and it works" or some horror story from a guy who bought one from the cheapest suplier on Alibaba. Thanks for sharing your knowledge about these machines!
Do a noise comparison of a water cooled router versus an air cooled one. You may be quite surprised at the difference in noise of just the machines (no bit) running at 20,000 rpm.

Your suggestion about the connectivity part\ where you prefer USB rather than 25 pin socket is reasonable to care about. But if that would cost you much, the users might find useful to just buy a 25 pin to USB cable which are less than 10 USD or maybe up to 20 in rare cases.

I thought you were affiliated with them somehow, I actually thought you had them produced there for your own company? When you do a project that will take more than one bit how do you change the first bit and switch to the next one without having to go through the set up process again ? In Cameroon we have electricity cuts all along the day. Very often, I face electricity cuts while the cnc router is working. How can I eliminate a pass which is already done when current comes back. And how to come back to origin in ncstudio ? Heeelllllp!!!!
You need a device called a UPS which is short for uninterupted power supply which has a large 12 volt battery built into it that provides the short term back up power when the mains goes down, or you can build a large battery bank to provide total power all the time and gets charged over night or when you are not using it.
Interpolation is just a movement eg linear interpolation (straight line), circular interpolation (arcs), polar interpolation (use of a linear axis and a rotary axis) etc. What you were talking about is helical interpolation (as it helixs down using 3 axis of movement). Not trolling though great video and great guy

Hi, have a look at Avid CNC machines at, www.cncrouterparts.com/ The Benchtop PRO 2424 2' x 2' the PRO 2436 2' x 3' and the PRO 3636 3' x 3' CNC Router Machine. These machines are extremely rigid and highly accurate, and tell them I sent you ok.
He knows exactly what he's talking about. Bought a nonsense CNC router recently has all the issues Aluminum Extruded Tables. Not cast iron. Not Mach3/4 Ready. Nonsense controller. Linear rails connected directly to aluminum extrusion so aluminum extrusions cannot be removed or upgraded easily. Table slots do not use standard t slots you get with a standard machinist clamp set. Stepper motors.
Sorry to say db is a references to a level as 20 or 2 uW or some level. You need to reference off dbm which is connected to 1mW. So you cannot say you know what a db is without the reference wattage sorry. Just hide this it is a references for future vlogs. We all make mistakes.
He's talking dBA which is the audio standard not the electrical power levels !! It's common to use the terms dB to mean dBA when talking about sound pressure levels. Go to any rock concert and you'll hear about it!!

Hi, use a windows 7 or 8 computer and you need a driver for Mach3 to see the card in your machine

Light engine oil is not really good to use on the rails. That is a job for way oil! Light engine oil has to many undesirable additives.
