    I had to laugh at your intro about cold weather. As I am watching this in Iowa, we are having a blizzard where I am. The winds are gusting up to 50 miles an hour and we have gotten a lot of snow. Windchills this weekend could be 45 BELOW 0 degrees F. My husband says "Don't be doing anything crazy today, because an ambulance can't get to us"! That's the truth too. Another great video. I make my roast like you but without spicy peppers. It's always a winner.

    Hi Mandy, and Steven. When I was a little girl, a VERY long time ago, when my mum said the word baguette, I thought she said bag-wet. To this day, and I am nearly 63 years old, I still call them bag-wet, though in front of other people I use the right word, as I don't want them thinking I don't know the right way to say it.
    Much love and respect as always, Jo, from the South East of England. xx Give Gracie a nice cuddle for me.

    Biting into a turtle is the best explanation I’ve ever heard for that bread 🤣
    Louisiana girl , and because it’s more soupy I would say closer to a gumbo but most of us don’t put tomatoes in our gumbo some do though.
    Jambalaya isn’t brothy here when served. But there is variations from regular rice to tomato-y rice

Seeing Gracie makes my day ! Your dinners look great Mandy! I hope you do more soups,with the wind chill factor, here it's supposed to hit -49 degrees Celsius tonight/tomorrow morning we need all the help we can get to keep our tummies warm and this cold weather is supposed to last until Tuesday, we get a reprieve until Thursday, then it's supposed to hit the minus high 30 and into the 40 's again. I hate winter when it's like this ! Y'all have a great night, and oh, give Gracie some pats for me will ya ? Thanks , have a great one !

    The reason there’s only one rib of celery versus three carrots, is because celery is a much stronger flavored vegetable. If you really like celery, you can add more but they’re trying to keep that flavor ratio even.

    Oh….My…..GOSH…..i made the Creole sausage and chicken tonight and it tastes amazing! You were not kidding that it had so much flavor. I made my own Creole seasoning so I could control how much heat it had and I did it in my instant pot. I browned the sausage then removed it….browned my chicken thighs then just dumped everything in and did it for 10 minutes on high pressure. It was so fast and easy. While I was chopping and measuring everything I first made a batch of basmati rice in my instant pot. This recipe is a keeper and one I will do for other people as well. Thank you Mandy for the inspiration!❤❤❤
    Oh and I added the brown sugar…..you don’t even notice it!

    You get the best benefits from drinking either warm or room temperature water in the morning than you'll get from drinking cold water. The warm water will help get your intestinal system working properly, its great for if you have acid reflux to help relax your throat and upper gi, and if you add just a little lemon you have even better benefits. I just wanted to share this with you. I hope it helps. Have a great weekend and stay safe in this storm coming!

    Mandy, each recipe made my mouth watering!! The last one is how I make Italian beef only I Don’t use hot peppers, I use peppercini peppers. I cut them up, seeds an all then add them after the roast is done, and very tender. I shred the beef, put it back in the juices and add my cut up peppers. I also add some juice from the jar of peppers and, if needed, beef stock. I serve it on Italian rolls or bogie buns with a side of juice. Everyone loves them. It was my best selling day when I owned a small restaurant. I always sold out of them, every Thursday 💕🙏🙏

    Gumbo is really a soup or stew served over rice, while jambalaya is made with the rice cooked into it. Both are great for Mardi Gras dinner !🎉

    • @Dindasayswhynot
      @Dindasayswhynot 8 месяцев назад

      Isn't another difference Gumbo usually without tomatoes, Jambalaya with?

    • @Daisyj925
      @Daisyj925 8 месяцев назад

      @@Dindasayswhynot I think you might be right. The dark roux of gumbo has no tomato (oftentimes has okra). I think also, Gumbo is a Lentin dish. Ohmigosh it’s been 4 decades since I’ve lived in the south! But, I vaguely remember my momma cooking it with seafood (craw dad and trout) for lent dinners?? (I could totally be wrong- Ive slept since then!! LOL)

    • @gailfort-cathey495
      @gailfort-cathey495 8 месяцев назад

      The word “gumbo” means okra, so what you made is closer to jambalaya than gumbo. Traditional gumbo will also have either a scoop of rice or potato salad put on top of it.

    Everything looks good. I keep forgetting to tell you but every time my 81lb dog Thor hears Gracie Lou's name or her talking he is right next to me watching her. I have 2 cats too and he plays with them sometimes. I just have to watch him so ge don't get to excited. But he definitely knows Gracie's meow. 😂

    Never had jambalaya nor gumbo, but all those other foods look delicious. I’ve had Mississippi pot roast.

    I have been watching your recipes tonight. You did an enchilada casserole. Because of soy in the sauces, I learned to make verde sauce. It takes very little time and it tastes sooooo much better than the canned. Food processor is a wonderful gadget with this process.

    That dish was closer to a jambalaya with all the flavors but a little too soupy to be one, but if you would've cooked the rice in it, it could've been considered one. A gumbo starts with a roux of flour and oil that is cooked low and slow until dark brown. It has more of a soup\stew type consistency.
