I really love the smiles Johnny gives Rob between songs here- when he introduces him as "the latest member of the River Band" and Rob dramatically shimmies his tambourine, and then says "Thank you, hometown, thank you very much."
They take such joy in eachother!
(Sorry Rob is not pictured, my view of him was blocked from where i was standing.)

He wouldn't have seen me recording since I was over at the corner of the stage.
Fwiw, there was one show of the tour where there was someone walking around the stage, recording with a bigger camera. Not sure which show it was (Brighton?)
Who knows if that will show up anywhere..

      You are so very welcome!!
I was so blessed to be able to see several shows of this tour, my first time seeing Johnny Flynn live. I know that I fell in love with his music not from the studio albums but from the (rare yet amazing) live videos shared on youtube by folks in the audience over the years. If it hadn't been for those videos I might not have ever grown to appreciate his art in the way that I have.
So even though technology *really* isn't my area, I felt that I needed to "give back" to the community of J.F. appreciators, and share these few videos I managed to record. (There are four, all from the Cambridge show, where I was lucky enough to have a spot so near the front.)
Anyway, thank you also, for the stuff you've shared over time, I've been a subscriber for awhile.

is the whole "love you johnny" "it's mutual" thing a bit he does or his fans do on purpose? i feel like i've heard this in a lot of his live performances

I'm no expert- this tour was my first time seeing him live (though I have searched out every audience video I could find in the last four years!)
But I was lucky enough to see five of the nine shows, and in each one there was at least one lull in the music where someone called out "love you Johnny".
I wouldn't say it's a bit so much as being heartfelt, and probably that his audience knows that he's actually likely to respond.
As for Johnny himself, though he may inadvertently repeat himself, I'd say it's the furthest thing from a "bit". If anything, he seems allergic to the idea of anything formulaic or pre-packaged. If he says anything at all it's likely to be from the heart and in the moment.
As an example, at each show I saw, when the band came back out for the encore he said something about "thanks for coming on the journey with us." But at each show those words were part of a very different conversation, depending on the vibe of the night.
Speaking for myself I can definitely say that his down-to-earth realness and authenticity is one of the things I love most about him, and the art he makes..
