Woodturning - Log to Telescope

- Taken sometime this one, reason I haven't posted for a few weeks as I've been working on this. Main body of the telescope is made from Sycamore, all other pieces are made from a piece of wood from a Cucumber Tree.
The total magnification is around x18 with the 50mm lens and 20mm eyepiece. Each piece was dried and then treated with a heat cured resin so there is no movement in the piece at a later date.
Finished in Danish oil

What an incredible build, Matt. So ambitious and it is beautiful, too. 👍😊
Thanks so much!
Huh, so you gave in and put metal legs on it😊.................that is just beyond amazing. The planing of it must take a lot of time, let alone the actual making! 10 out of 10 from the Essex judge🥇🏆
Thanks, way toying with the idea of wooden legs but gave that up.
The level of precision and craftmanship necesary for this is astounding.
One hell of a project amazing. Congratulations canada

This was outrageously ambitious! Amazing result. I think you deserve to prove the moon is made of cheese if you can make a telescope of wood!
Wow Matt. Just Wow, that`s brilliant.
🙂👌
When I saw Sycamore, I thought about Zacchaeus who climbed up a Sycamore tree trying to "see" Jesus. As the little kids' song says, "to see what he could see." The level of detail and craftsmanship are outstanding!!
Thank you Richard
Hot damn! The precision on that one, really impressive!
I'm blown away by the coception and beauty of this and the skills in execution. Must be your best project yet.

Why is everything so much classier in wood??
All that router work is so satisfying. It's like 3D printing for wood.
