The gran prix is often overlooked. That car is classy & can run with the best of them. Nicely done. I would put original wheels back on.

Ditto, You're exactly correct. Put the original Pontiac wheels on it, & take that stupid steering wheel off

My first car was a 70 model J. I was a terror in that car. It was a little slow off the line cause it was so heavy. But once that 4 barrel carburetor kicked in it was see you later. 😎

I have a black one. My Dad bought it brand new in 1971.... It's what I drove when I was 16 to 18 yrs of age. The speedometer goes to 140. On a nice cold day I could get 145 out of it easy !!!
Bad Ass my friend. My brother and I are almost finished with full restoration. I love it.
    1971 Pontiac J... Black w/gold pinstripes original.
400 4 barrel original carb. We've had it bored out and now it's a 455 with aluminum heads and brand new headers. It's an absolute Beast !!!

Yours sounds nicer than this one after what they did to screw up a great car. The wheels, steering wheel, and the instrumentation are all really bad on an otherwise great car. Did you see the lights going crazy while he was driving it? I would turn them off in order to not get a headache! Enjoy your Black Beauty. She sounds like a gorgeous car.

Nice, I owned a 72 GP Model SJ for 14yrs. Easily drive 100 mph + with just one finger on the steering wheel that's how nice it drove on the highway. I rebuilt the 455 engine about 30 yrs ago and now have it in my 71 Firebird. Too bad I drove it a lot in WNY back then and it was too far gone to restore and nobody makes any aftermarket body panels. Really cool looking car with luxury and power, wouldn't mind getting a Hurst 72 SSJ.

1:46 I still remember my next-door neighbor describing the door handles on his father's new GP as "groovy". They were probably a little impractical on an icy morning, but they, along with the flush bumpers, roll-down rear windows and long wheelbase gave those early GPs a whole lot more personality than the more ordinary models from '73 on.

0:50 Look at that giant fan shroud. I remember a similar one on the Monte Carlos. Delorean, being a car guy, was probably uncomfortable putting such a long nose on a car with a short V8, but he knew the public would pay more if it looked like something Daddy Warbucks' chauffeur would drive.

He modeled it after the Duesenbergs. Even down to the models J and SJ. Entire 69 model year going forward was a Duesenberg tribute car.

great job on car. little to much customizing on a classic car. hotchkis suspension and oversize wheels ruins car. dont think makes car more desirable. never get money back on upgrades. just like a big stereo.

Beautiful car, except for those ugly rims, nice set of original Pontiac Rally Sport wheels would look better. I also prefer the old school orange Pontiac Dash Cluster, but thats just me. I am sure this car will sell in no time.
