  • The Belsnickel is an old world Christmastime legend, but unlike Santa, in addition to rewarding the good children, he punishes the bad ones. Once relegated to history, the Belsnickel is making a comeback, and Legend Hunter Jeff Belanger visited him at the historic Smith-Harris House in East Lyme for a very different kind of “Christmas in Connecticut”!

Mr. Belanger. I hope you visit with Dave Schrader again this year at Christmastime. The two of you together make it very obvious I'm listening to a Podcast when at work because I'm laughing out loud at seemingly nothing. I really enjoyed Christmas of 2017. That was hysterical! Darkness Radio with Dave Schrader. And I want to thank you for the good work, and good service you provide everyone. Your work is very important!!! The world has grown so huge with its people scattered everywhere forgetting the legends. We get in our cars and sometimes travel 50-miles or so one-way just to our jobs. In such an atmosphere legends get lost. You are the Little Old Man who lives in the tiny huts of SO many of our towns across New England - retaining the Old Stories for the rest of us. October 8th you will be coming to Goshen, Ct. to our library there for a lecture. I will be bringing my pal Wally with me. We're both very interested in New England history. Last October we attended a program that was offered in Harwinton, Ct. at the cemetery there. Townspeople who are members of the Historical Society dressed up as Founders of this part of New England, standing by 'their graves' and spoke of life for them at that time. Also, when and how they died. It was pretty incredible let me tell you. So, I thank you once more here and can't WAIT! till I can meet you in person October 8th in Goshen Conn. !!!!!

If we are Christian, we should NOT be observing Christmas. It is totally pagan and was never celebrated by the true church. It is actually the winter solstice, the birthday of the sun, and has Catholic origins. But the true origin goes back to Babylon and their sun worship. There is no such observance as Christmas by the first Christians and it is truly an insult to God. Also, the shepherds and the wise men were not present at Jesus' birth. Jesus was actually about two years old and living in a house when the wise men visit Him to honor the new king. And there was not "three" wise men, but since only three gifts are mentioned, we are told there were three wise men. Actually these people were coming to honor the new king and with them they brought a king's ransom, and many, many more fabulous gifts. And they would have traveled in a huge caravan with hundreds of other people, guards, soldiers, other dignitaries, camp workers, animal caretakers, cooks, guides, washing women, tent builders, and all these people's families, as well as hundreds of camels and asses to carry their food, and water and all the needed supplies, as well as the vast fortune they were bringing to present to the new king. This is why Herod knew about their presence in the land, and had it been just three kings, he'd never have known about them. But when this huge caravan reached their territory, there would have been news about them delivered to Herod. I also believe that it was this vast caravan that conducted Mary, Joseph and Jesus into Egypt to flee from Herod, as there would be no way they could transport what was truly a king's ransom by themselves. Most people do not realize that Mary and Joseph came from very prominent and wealthy families, and they held high positions in their neighborhood as aristocrats. This is why they were so shocked when Jesus began going among the lower classes, preaching. And the wedding where Jesus turned the water to wine, was His own wedding. If these were just poor dirty people, what would they be doing at such a lavish affair, even ordering the servants around? Also, we know that Jesus taught in the temple every Sabbath, and that could only be done by a married man, or the guards would have quickly thrown Him into the street, or even killed Him. The fact that Jesus was married has been hidden by the Catholic church, that does everything opposite to what God commands, and having the priests unmarried, is totally against God's laws. (Leviticus 21:13) We are lied to by the FALSE PROPHETS who say we no longer than God's LAWS, when Jesus clearly said..."Think NOT that I came to destroy the LAW and the prophets. I came not to destroy but to fulfill. And verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in any wise pass from the LAW till all be fulfilled." Matthew 5:17,18 "SIN is transgression of the LAW." I John 3:4 Yet these same liars still kept the TITHING LAWS! Sorry, but it's not pick and choose! The only thing that was deleted after Jesus' death were the rituals, such as animal sacrifice, as Jesus became our Passover. I Corinthians 5:7 We are not supposed to observe the pagan celebrations of the world. Every nation observes the winter solstice and it goes by many different names, such as the festival of lights in India. But they are all celebrating the birthday of the sun, which is a totally pagan observance. Every Christmas we hear..."Remember the reason for the season!" and YES, WE SHOULD... and remember that it is the birthday of the SUN and the winter solstice! And if you are a Christian, you should not be observing this pagan holiday, along with the rest of the world. For Big Truth! kristi
