It truly was. It could fit any role and it’s speed allowed it to keep up with Rebel fighters carrying out hit and run attacks. It’s kinda the perfect ship for the Alliance.
the corllian buccaneer with 10 turbolasers the Farstar and Nightcaller as pocket carriers of atleast +12 starfighters CR90 is a remarkable modular if given more screen time, designing and creativity it would become the most powerful ship in numbers
Problem is... before the Mon Calamari joined the Alliance, these small corvettes were the only thing the Rebels had other than fighters. Any configuration was too little to face the empire with. Until information and confidence made the Rebels turn into a terrorist (aka freedom fighters, depending on the side) group (nit and run attacks)
That is true. These vessels were outgunned by anything larger than a Gozanti. But when the Rebels adopted their hit and run tactics the CR90s were capable of keeping up with the fighters. Their speed and modularity made them perfect capital ships for hit and run attacks.
The CR70 is a predecessor of the CR90. From what I can tell, the CR70 was less modular allowing for fewer weapon emplacements but sported a small hangar bay which was no present on the CR90.
The CR70 is just a smaller version of the CR90, and it seems to be debated wether it was a predecessor or a contemporary to the CR90 and the “CR110” as ECHenry calls it (a larger Corellian that’s in ROTJ)
What a workhorse of a ship

My favorite space frame of all time. Dopest ship in sci fi
I’ve always been a fan of the design. One of my favorite Rebel/New Republic capital ship designs for sure!

What's the difference between the CR70 and the CR90?
C70 is the republic frigate
