Great video! And perfect timing for me - exactly what I've been researching for the last few weeks.
I really like the Schneider Gelion+ refills, finished mine in two days, absolutely no skipping up until the last drop of ink!
Schneider Gelion is my favorite. For a needlepoint gel, the Monteverde extra fine gel is great. Caran d'Ache also makes Parker-style gel refills in 0.5 and 0.7. They are relatively expensive and the ink is basically like Kaweco or Monteverde.
Really good review, thanks 🙂
Ive been using the Easy flow 9000 M for a long time now after watching one of your older videos and ive been enjoying it. I like how dark it is.
I have a grimsmo pen on the way so this really helps
Jetstream SXR600 and Ohto Flash Dry i got in my rr600 and 800 ballpoints respectively
I use the ohto gel needlepoint in one of my Zebra FxMD, just needs to be trimmed to fit. And it's great writer very smooth.ohto also do a ballpoint version both available here in the UK. Great channel keep up the quality videos
Great video… I use the gel parker, but was also curious about other brands.
Monteverde is great. I converted all my jotters to gel with different colors.
I like Gelion because of price but the best I've tried (much more money for sure) are ceramic ball gel refills from Caran D'ache they use in 849 rollerball version (black and blue available) and Ohto Refill PG-M05NP (only black available)
Awesome collection. Are they all same tip size ?
You are the best !
Wow thank you!
Kindly review new lamy m16 broad refill.tell us about your writting experience.
Would you say ohto needle tip is better then the black itoya gpr-7 needle tip? As always appreciate you
Monteverde has a Ceramic Gel pen in a needle tip. Only in black and I believe blue as well.
I know they make the needle point regular ballpoint (Swiss made) in blue-black and blue, black versions very good but yeah recently discovered they have XF version of gel refills in needle point made in Japan my guess it is made by Ohto but not sure
I have an unknown one, inside a pen with no branding that I found on a public path, it is plastic and completely white except for the metal tip, compressed into the plastic is YF0916.
Hello, what red, gel, and preferably needletip Parker-style G2 inserts do you know?
Thank you for this video. I don’t use too many gel refills in my Parker style pens. I use the Parker Gel, Ohto Flash Dry, and EasyFlow9000 already.
I’ve never tried Monteverde, but want to. Same with Gelion, it looks worth trying.
Monteverde's Blue/Black Ceramic gel in the g2 parker style looks great and writes smoothly. Edit: i I have the .6 its model is P42.
Can confirm on the Monteverde’s, they do come in a fine and a super fine. Used the Monteverde p42 (6mm) for 4 refills and loved it. Recently ran out and looked for refills and stumbled on the Monteverde p41 superfine (5mm needlepoint) and I’d say it’s superior to the Ohto as far as needlepoints go.
Thanks!!
How so? Would you say the p41/p42 writes better at “not quite vertical” angles?? I’m a .5 rollerball person usually, and I’m looking for something I won’t hate in a rotring 600.
Where can we find the Parker Gel 0.55 Fine refills?
Thanks for creating this refill review! Very useful. It's interesting about the ISO G2 standard. I believe it was based on Parker, as they were the most prolific at the time the standard was created. PILOT should not have called theirs G2. It's just not the same. Confusion! Btw, about the OHTO, I believe you're showing the PG-105NP. Do you know if the previous model of the same design was the PG-805NP?
I figured it out. I have an old dried out PG-805NP and the new PG-105NP I bought is the exact same refill.
I just had a new pack of Parker Gel Refills delivered to me via Amazon. Parker has made the new refills from plastic and not metal. Manufacturing of the refills have relocated from France to China. The plastic refills flex under load. I am at the moment hunting for new old stock Parker Gel refills , the metal ones or metal substitutes.
Haven’t seen the plastic ones yet! I’ll keep an eye out
Can you make a review of online standart refills (pressurised and normal)
Have you come across a favorite ballpoint (non gel) Parker G2 style refill that is a PLASTIC body? I'm hoping to find one to upgrade my Zebra F-701. Thanks!
I would add the inoxcrom gel refill, a Spanish brand, which is perfect for these types of ballpoint pens
Thanks! Not common in the US but I’ll try to find some
What would say the most water resistant blue one is? I love the Parker blue gel but it washes completely away with the slightest water.
prefer Parker Gel & Monteverde in Parker's form, although I find Zebra & Pentel's gel writes much smoother than Park's Quink Gel
I sometimes doodle and I found I like the most for that a Bic Cristal Original due to the fact that I can vary the width of the lines depending on the pressure I apply. Are there any parker style refills that write and feel like this?
I’d try the Schneider 775 xb
Off course Parker Quink can do that but people like to use cheap BIC for drawing usually because it has a certain blue color that many people like
Ever try the Visconti Smartouch Ballpoint Refill? I think it's better than the Jetstream parker-style refill.
Yes I like that one. It feels like an Easyflow to me but I’ve never been able to confirm if it is or not!
I have a few of exactly those sliders - they are NOT rotring - I got them off Amazon DE just to harvest the Schneider D1s refills from them ✌🏾❤️
Could've shortened the title to "Best Parker-Style Refills" lol... I love the Monteverde ceramic gel, the colors are so nice and bold and they're silky smooth. I'm honestly not a fan of the Easyflow... Once you tried gel I don't think you'd want to go back
My favorite has always been the Moleskin, I hate that you can't find them anymore. Since then I have been using the Monteverde, and recently tried out a brand called iungo that has been pretty good so far.
Same experience with Iungo for me. It's pretty good.
@@dangonzalez3505 Yeah, I've liked Monteverde and Iungo because they offer a blue black. Not very common with parker refills
I think the moleskine is no longer made. Couldn’t track one down for this. Will check the other one thanks!
@@unsharpen Yeah they stopped making the moleskine a few years ago now. It was such a great refill
I need to know which parker style is most similar to a pilot g2 black ink. I cant find one as dark and pure as it. Can anyone help?
Personally I’m a big Monteverde fan. I almost just put away my Jotter pens, which I’ve been collecting since I was a kid. The main problem for me was the ink not used everyday just goes bad. So sincerely disappointing to have picked up a pack of refill and every single one goes bad within a month. Granted my experience fixing the issue is basic, but disappointing nonetheless. With the Monteverdi refills, I’ve left pens unused for over a year and I go back to using it a lot as I do now and again with my many pens, no problem, no skip, beautiful and vibrant. Dries fast and writes smooth. I haven’t used everything on the list here. But when you find what one could call excellent for a decent price, why bother bouncing around. Not to mention I prefer needle point, they got it, vibrant color collection, it’s there.
Thanks for the video.
Itoya makes a parker style needle point in blue - water-based. Ohto Flash is only available in black
I bought Itoya Aquaroller awhile ago thinking it would be a gel, but it is basically a greasy ballpoint style ink. Is there an Itoya that is actually a proper gel?
@@AaronDimonio yes they make a parker style gel refill only in black - needle point or .7
that 0.7 is a nice smooth writer. It is hard to find and often confused with the aqua roller which I find to be meh....
How would you compare the ohto flash go itoya gpr-7?
@@waynegreen7634 ohto's got a really nice quick dry in the flash go. personally, I like their pens and inks. In this particular case, it's an even toss.
Schneider makes some very good ink formulations, but they don't last. I don't know why. I've had ones sealed up and after a few years of just resting, even tip down, trying to use them yields a dead refill. I don't know if it's evaporation or a chemical breakdown. But I have pretty much ruled out that brand from now on.
Schneider discontinued Gelion 39. They are selling a Gelion+ that doesn’t fit Parker style pens anymore. So sad.
I love my Carandach pens but the refill for carandache is not the greatest
What are the most popular ballpoint pens (max $100) that use the Parker refill G2? (Except Parker of course 🤣)
What country did Schniedier Gelion plus come from
The "Schneider" brand comes from Germany.
Since i started using fountain pens , i’ve come to realize how unreliable ballpoints and rollerballs are. They last longer without drying out if stored. However, after writing with one for a few weeks, the ink will fade even when the cartridge is 80% full. Come to think of it, I’ve never seen an ink cartridge get thrown out because it was totally out of ink. They just dry up and become unusable. I still need to look for a refill because cGMP customers insist on rollerballs.
The problem with many ballpoint inks is that over time they thicken... and that impacts flow. What's common is a clogging of the tip... which renders it unusable, while all of that usable ink sits behind it. I've not yet found a way to remove a tip, clean it, then put back to enjoy proper ink flow. However, some brands have created new formulations. The PILOT BRFN-30 is robust!
Never have problems with ballpoint refills especially Parker Quink no matter how old it just works and it is perfect as it is not too oily nor too slippery (so its a perfect hybrid) Fountain pens are not practical in most situations I sometimes use them at home but overall no matter how I like them etc if you need one pen best is to get a nice Parker ballpoint as it is practical and worlks on any paper (the new version of Parker 51 ballpoint is nice twist pen as I find clicker pens to often have wobble tips) plus are more streamlined
It's disappointing that most of the Parker-style gel refills are lackluster. There are so many great pen bodies that accept Parker-style, but the refills leave a lot to be desired especially when compared to Japanese gel refills.
It upsets me that it's cheaper for me to get a 10-pack of schneider pens with gelion+ refills in them than just the refills. It just doesn't seem right to throw away pen bodies for a refill.
Strange right? It’s really too bad
Your voice reminds me of Andrew Huberman.
I got the ohto flash dry needle point and it was hands down the worse refill I ever got in my life
Jesus why
hold pen perpendicular to the paper for best results. You are tilting excessively and this is a bad habit.
My friend, i think u should develop your writing style because it looks unesthetic.
Thanks for the feedback!
