- A little tidbit from A Christmas Carol The Musical (2004)!
Starring in this clip is Kelsey Grammer/Scrooge (a Crane) and Jason Alexander/Jacob Marley (a Corgi)
I decided I was gonna do this one as a christmastime upload waaaay back in the summer when I realized christmas was on a weekend!(I like to do animatic uploads on weekends hehe!)! XD I remember seeing this movie as a kid and Link By Link was my fav song in it! So I just had to do a short version of my own all these years later! c:
Related fun fact! I was a cast member in stage productions of A Christmas Carol The Musical three times! In 2006, 2007, and 2011! My fav role was probably 2011, when I played a Chimney Sweep (we danced mary poppins style!) in ensemble, and I was also a role in the Dancing On Your Grave song!
Anyway enough of me blabbing LOLZ xD HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
Honestly, I couldn't even tell it was Jason Alexander until he did the scream. Then I knew and was reminded of how great a singer Jason Alexander is.
Yeah. I remember in the Seinfeld commentary when Jason does the answering machine song, he had to redo it at first because he sang it too well. They wanted it to be more "George".
Well he was in Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame
His first ever acting gig was in a musical with music by the great Stephen Sondheim!
@@SamtheBravesFan Hearing him sing for real I finally understand how challenging it must of been for him portraying someone who sings like crap but also isn't trying to sing like crap.
Seriously how couldn't anyone recognize Alexander's speech pattern? That accent isn't going anywhere. 0:42
It’s kind of incredible how this song PLAYS like a villain song. But the tone of it is more like a kind of grim hopefulness. You could say it’s kind of an “Anti-villain song” in that it’s being sung by those who were villains in life TO someone who is currently a villain in order to try and “scare him straight”
It’s like saying
“From one bad guy to another, you really don’t want to see where this lifestyle will take you”
You perfectly captured the aesthetic of this piece ❤
“They put me in CHAINS, Jerry!”
“They put YOU in chains?”
“In chains!”
“Huh. You know I never would’ve thought that the afterlife would have such an invigorating workout program.”
*cue laugh track followed by bass riff*
Beautiful 👌
"They put me in CHAINS, Jerry!"
"Uncle Leeooo?"
@@Christian762 Also beautiful
hahahaha u win hahahaah
stop! lmao I can hear their voices when I read the lines haha. very very good.
I've always loved the concept of Marley's chains being a twist on the phrase "you can't take it with you". Essentially the Power That Be saying "Sure, you can take it with you, but it's a heavy load and there's nowhere to spend it. Good luck with that!" 😂 Tragic, yet funny.
Hah, I like that. Well put!
@@nthgth Thank you. 😁
I love how "animated" the music gets at 1:14 as if it was intended for something animated
You can take the Alan Menken out of Disney, but you can't take the Disney out of Alan Menken.
@@ZeppoThePuppetManAlan Menken composed this?? I *knew* it sounded like an _Aladdin_ villain song!
I love how Kelsey Grammar’s character is a crane. You put so much thought into your work :)
(for reference, Kelsey Grammar is perhaps best known for his role Frasier Crane the psychologist on Cheers and hit spin-off Frasier, so Kosperry the mad genius made his character a crane)
OMG YOU’RE RIGHT!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Looks like some kind of chicken, given the tail feathers.
"This is Ebenezer Crane, I'm listening."
@@caitlynmcmunnand if not for voicing sideshow Bob.
Jason Alexander's spirit animal is the Corgi from now on😂 Ever since that 101 Dalmatians sequel where he played that villain corgi he fits so well as one, and thanks to your 'I'll just eat trash' short I can't help but love him as a Corgi 😁
This is the first time in human history when anyone has ever referenced that he was the side villain of the 101 Dalmations sequel.
In the 90's he was a foul mouth Ducktective now Jason Alexander is a Corgi.
Fascinating to see a man go from a duck to a corgi...
I bet it is a reference to that movie
I have to keep reminding myself that these are not, in fact, actual screenshots from an actual Don Bluth film from the late 80s. You emulate the style so utterly perfectly.
If my written works ever get animated, it be a combo of Don Bluth / Rankin & Bass style.
@@faviusarthum5038,
Thank you for that.
If you were able to get a team of animators together to fluidly animate these I have a feeling you would be the next Don Bluth ;) Great artwork and expressions!
That's what I was thinking, too. The art style is very reminiscent of Don Bluth! It's amazing even in animatic style.
Their style reminds me so much of Don bluth it makes me emotional 🥲 a True talent
@@ironvlogger9712 Yeah, I grew up watching the classics like All dogs, An American Tale. and more. Brings a lit of nostalgia to me
That vhs image quality too, it's just too real
Sadly, Kosperry would fit in all too well with the dregs that are all too commonplace. It would be closer to Donovan Cook, Chris Savino, or a technically savvy version of Rebecca Sugar or Ian Jones-Quartey.
A great Christmas Eve gift
I love how you always draw Jason Alexander as a Corgi, but he looks so different and menacing here.
It's like this is a Universe where every actor from Seinfeld just happens to be an anthropomorphic animal so they sometimes have to play against type.
Would love to see you animate Newman as Ned from Jurassic Park.
I didn't know Jason Alexander could sing. Thank you for this wonderful gift ♡ Happy holidays!
Check him out doing it's better with a band with the boston hall or something. He's good
I think he did stage musicals and stuff, I remember hearing a story about Seinfeld producers telling him he was singing too well while doing George's phone jingle
oh damn this is jason alexander?
Didn't know this was Jason Alexander, but yeah Jason was also singing in Hunchback of Notre Dame, along with seeing him live cause he's he's stand up comedian, but Jason is a man of many talents! ❤
Check out the MCDLT commercial
Jason Alexander can sing...this is marvelous news.
Thank you for making this in time for the holidays, Kosperry.
My Mom didn't know either. She only saw him as the Incel in Pretty woman and was in DISBELIEF when I show his pipes.
What a generous Festivus gift! Ugh I just love that Bluth look so much. Please never stop
I’m always amazed at how each drawing looks like a screenshot of an old Bluth film or special.
Dude I love this musical. I watched it every December with my mom until she died. I saw a great theater production of the musical with her too. I don't think I could get through the whole film anymore with how much it meant to us. I'm tearing up now just thinking about it. Fantastic work though. I love your stuff, and I never thought I'd see a tribute to the A(grammar?) Christmas Carol musical like this.
the 240p gives it the authentic "i dug this vhs tape up in my grandma's attic" feel lmfao
Your work never fails to impress me! Always so full of energy and character and the expressions are just *chef’s kiss*.
These legitimately look like screenshots from a an animated film in the style of All Dogs Go To Heaven.
Don Bluth ;)
This was an amazing performance, he truly captured the pain and torture of carrying those chains. And the animation, flawless and perfectly expressive!
The crazy eyes and tongue-biting grin are just sooo expressive! Amazing work as always. Merry Christmas! 🎄
Oh, this is simply perfect! I love this adaptation of _A Christmas Carol!_ Jason Alexander made a marvelous Jacob Marley!
Also, it's funny you should select a crane for Kelsey Grammer's Scrooge. He previously played none other than Frasier Crane himself. 😜
Hot dang! I knew Kelsey Grammar was Scrooge, but I was totally unaware that Jason Alexander was Marley! He's got a great singing voice! And, as usual, excellent work with the art style! 😉
Beautiful! I wish we could see the entire thing. With these characters.
Aww, I wanted this to keep going. Maybe you could animate this throughout the year and have even more next Christmas. 🙏
The song fit the style so well. This musical should really should go full animated one day.
This is the kind of holly jolly that I'm here for
This is so amazing 😮 your efforts are much appreciated this Christmas Eve ❤
I remember catching some of this special on TV back in the day. I found it mostly forgettable EXCEPT for this number, as it really appealed to my High School Goth Kid sensibilities.
Also, Jason Alexander as Jacob Marley. A most intriguing casting choice as it's not what you'd expect, but I also think it works cuz I really liked him as Boris Badenov in the ROCKY & BULLWINKLE movie.
Who knew Duckman could sing? 😄
First he was a foul-mouthed Ducktective now Jason Alexander is a Corgi.
The part where he sings "horrifying" is such a George voice, it's hilarious.
_Jacob's gettin upset!!_
Geez you really nailed the emotion in this! The last few images were beautifully intense and had phenomenal expression!
Honestly we need to complete the Jason Alexander pyramid with the animated version of The McDLT commercial.
Your art is beautiful! I just can't get over over the don bluth style no matter how many times I watch your videos :)
I really appreciate all the work that goes into these, thank you!
Man these are so good. If you told me they were stills from an actual cartoon I'd believe you
This was an amazing video to see on Christmas eve. I saw this pop on and dropped everything i was doing to watch this.
I hope you have a Merry Christmas!😁💙🎄
SPERRY THIS IS AMAZING ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love your animatics and animations! It’s so timeless!!
Oh god...This isn't going to get stuck in my head...Definitely not...😂
🍺 Here's to you animating this scene fully. Also, I am a big fan of A Christmas Carol and its variations of it. This was wonderful.
wish this was fully animated. song and animation would be epic and revitalized the 2004 movie. love this. just love it
Seeing Kelsey Grammar as a crane makes me hope that you do a Frasier scene someday.
Oh man, there's so much material. Would love to see what all the main characters look like as Don Bluth type animals!
This feels like a personal Christmas gift 🎁 thanks for reanimating my favorite Jason Alexander role!
I can see this as a Don Bluth animated adaptation of A Christmas Carol!!!
Wait….Why hasn’t he done one????
Otherwise I love this so much!!!
I hear you. I'd rather have Don Bluth's 2D animation around today, instead of all the 3D and live remakes we get now.
@@dreamguardian8320 I’d definitely like to see 3D animation used a blend with 2D animation more often, kind of like how they did with Into the Spider-Verse, The Bad Guys, & Puss N Boots 2.
It adds more depth to the animation and it allows studios to take risks into trying something new.
I was a theater kid growing up and while I was always invited to watch the Christmas Carol, I never actually performed it.
Stop making me wanna get my back blown out by the spirit of christmas past 😩
Aaarggh this looks fantastic. All his toothy expressions are very Bluth-esque
If you told me this was taken from a Disney movie I woulsn't question it.
Amazing work!
Your artwork never fails to impress me!
This is what I expect to see on a VHS tape, some preview about some obscure cartoon I’ve never heard of,
I watched this movie because of your video, an utter delight
Kelsey Grammar as a Crane made me laugh too much! 🤣
I love this so much
He's basically telling Scrooge "if you don't make things right, you'll end up like me."
God you're so talented. Every video you post makes me happy.
Oh wow I love this style so much! And my father loves this story it’s so nice to see it in a beautiful art form like this XD
I knew Jason Alexander could sing from Duckman, but this is next level.
In my heart these are screenshots from a real don bluth Christmas special 😭
Also I miss those scary close up shots in animated movies 😂 1:19
I like how you made him a corgi even though it's not Seinfeld, like this is what happened after he died lol
God, I just cannot get enough of your style! ITS SO GOOD
I always love how expressive your animatics are! I’d love to see a fully animated short/show in your style! 💗
looks like a screenshot from an old disney movie its so good
Wonderful work! Merry Christmas Eve!
This is awesome! I love the animation style and that it is an animatic of one of my favorite versions of Christmas Carol.
Kosperry, my dude. You need to start animating these awesome renditions! I love your work!
Honestly, having Jason Alexander as a corgi and Dr. Frasier Crane as an ACTUAL crane is inspired.
This is a reference to little lightning from the sequel to the classic animated film 101 dalmatians
Kelsey Grammer, famous for playing psychiatrist Frasier Crane in that one sitcom, plays a…crane…
Aha! Good one.
Happy snow times.
Brilliant! That went over my head. I just assumed Scrooge was a bird as a reference to his duck form from the Disney adaption.
Both of these would've gone over my ignorant head; I'm glad for the comment section haha
Personally I'm more partial to Marley and Marley from the Mupper Christmas Carol... but knowing what Disney's like, probably good that wasn't gone with... either way this is fantastic~ c:
Best holiday present this year 😄 I love it!
I love this song! Your animation made me adore it even more!
*opens link*
"Gasp! Oh, Kosperry! What a wonderful gift! I love it!"
Joking aside. I love how this guy is still a business man and carries himself like it even in death but at the same time clearly looks like "Hey Scrooge? We dun fucked-up BAAAAD!"
“This is not good…. CHAINS are colliding!!!”
This tears it. I Think you're my favorite animator
I like to think in another universe that this is a real movie and was a hit animated Christmas Film
Superb animation here and this musical version is another one of my favorites as well as the 1978 offering. I also love the 2022 modern day take in Spirited.
Merry Christmas m8 this is such a great animation full of heart and lots of hard work thank ya m8 for this ultra staticoolies and awesomes too ultra thank ya so much appreciated too.
Beautiful, just beautiful 🤌❤
Amazing work as always!
This makes me so nostalgic for traditional 2D animation.
If i were a billionaire i'd buy you your own animation studio to bring this wonderful style to the big masses, you have mad talent.
Great video
Nice. Gave me some real secret of nihm/all dogs go to heaven vibes. Good job.
Oh my gosh ever since I worked on my schools play last month where we did this version, I’ve fallen in love w it and the soundtrack, I love ur artstyle a lot! Its rlly satisfying and nostalgic!! You did the movie well 💖😎🫶(if that’s how to word it? Served it well? Idk lol)
Are you going to make a Kosperry Frasier video series with Frasier as a crane?
Fantastic! Love the Don Bluth style
Good l love this!! It reminds me of Don bluth art works and animation style, gosh i love it so!❤
I realized through Kosperrys aninations, they dont base the animal soley off the role they play, but the actor themselves.
It weels somewhat connected i suppose: that George from Seinfield and Jacob Marley are both depicted as Corgis, even with similar fur patterns. Cause it feels like its a dog version of the actor Jason Alexander rather than just quirky character designs!
I dunno... Little dogs can be just as aggressive as big ones.
@struwweldefender4144 i...wasn't saying anything about dog aggression. I was saying the animal fit the role. I'm saying Kos is not only choosing the animals based on the character of the shorts, but based on the real actor.
Jacob Marley in this scene is played by Jason Alexander, who also plays George in seinfield. In both cases, both characters Jason played where corgis
@@dustytailstudios Exactly. And I was pointing out that a corgi just fits Marley in general. At least through my eyes. This version of Marley, at least, seems pretty aggressive towards Scrooge at times.
This is so good! The expressions are amazing!
Oh man now I REALLY wanna see this animated!
True but kosperry should make it 90s or 2010 for animated series and movie to as well but shame don bluth doesn’t make it anymore
Amazing!!!!! 😱😀👍
so good!
This is amazing thank you for another banger
This is so cool!!! And is that Jason Alexander?
Scrooge's colleague is a fellow miser like him. He's warning him if you don't change he will share the same fate in the afterlife as his colleague.
I love this animation. Also, I'd love to see you animate Jason Alexander in Cinderella (Brandy and Whitney Houston Version) where he sings, "The Prince Is Giving A Ball."
Your style has universal appeal, there's not a human on the planet who wouldn't adore your work.
I can see why this is one of your favorite songs! I can’t stop listening to it!
The f---k?! Jason Alexander can sing?? Color me surprised...Also, I don't know why, but a corgi just fits him for some reason... XD I can't imagine the amount of work that had to go into this, everything and the fact that everything is in full color is equally amazing
This looks like it could be a Don Bluth animation!! Kudos 🎉
This is gorgeous! Also marry Christmas/holidays and a happy new year to everyone!
so good. the animation just makes it SO MUCH BETTER. even if it's unfinished animation, it's FANTASTIC. MAD respect.
You are truly gifted! I wish this whole movie could be animated this way.
idk if it's just the fact I grew up with Don Bluth films and the VHS era or what, but I love that you do these so well, that I can "see" the animation in my head XD excellent work, as always!
