Iverson is a phenomenal athlete and scorer, the best pound for pound, but he is mired in a series of bad decisions that held him and his team back. His approach to the game, with skill over technical team play doesnt always translate well to the X's and O's of todays game. Its a highly analytical game, moreso today than during his time. The players that did end up coaching, training and consulting did take understudy opportunities, attended coach camps and all that schooling to supplement and update their basketball knowledge. You cant retire and be inactive in the game and then just show up one day and expect to be given an automatic gig on your past individual accomplishments as a player. It's not the organizations fault, I'm sure had AI stayed relevant in the league off court, talked to some people, attended some camps, he'd be staff right now. If bench players can do it, no reason he couldn't. Just like any other business or job, you have to prepare for it.

Iverson is a wrong guy as a coach, as a dad, as a mentor. We all loved and respected him a lot! But it was back in that days, when he respected himself! Now he is obviously whole time on drugs, (if not, maybe whole time on alcohol or maybe he is ill!!) so in this situation he is not a good roleModel for players.
