The problem is that the lead actress has repeatedly bashed the original film, which also insults the audience that would have been interested in seeing the remake. She could have said something more diplomatic like, “we’re going to pay homage to the original but create a more nuanced, three dimension version of character that modern audiences can identify with, because conceptions of femininity have evolved over the last 90 years” and no one would have cared. But instead they completely woke-ified the character, changing all of the things about her that audiences liked (her soft, sweet disposition, her nurturing love of animals, etc) to create this generic “strong girl boss” trope that’s way too simplistic and overdone. Not to mention how anti-feminist it is to imply that all women have to fit that “strong” archetype in order to be valued.
You have to do height cast reversal. That fixes it. Of course we could let these individuals choose these parts for themselves, but clearly they are too small to choose on their own. They need Disney's big guiding hands.
