I absolutely love 💕 channel 4 news. Been watching for years. When I came back home to st.louis channel 4 news was the first thing I watched. I'm a huge 4 fan.
I forgot that Mike Nelson worked in St. Louis for a few years early in his career. He’s worked in the Denver media market for over 3 decades and is retiring at the end of the year.
Channel 4 started in 1953-54 as KWK-TV, owned with KWK radio (1380), affiliated with CBS. KMOX's Robert Hyland wanted to have the CBS affiliate network-owned in the mid-50's; he originally applied for channel 11, but eventually was able to buy channel 4 and let Harold Koplar start channel 11 in 1959. The calls changed to KMOX-TV in 1958 and stayed until CBS sold it in the 80's. This starts after longtime anchor Max Roby left 4 and went to channel 5. A number of reporters and anchors have appeared on channels 2, 4, 5, 11 and 30 in St. Louis over the years; Robin Smith, Betsy Barnette (Bruce) and Dan Gray on all of them at one time or another. Channel 30 dropped news in 2005.
I heard the same theme when I was on vacation in Florida from one of their local affiliates. I always liked the theme. I didn't like it when it changed.
KMOV, the CBS affiliate in St. Louis, MO, is owned by Gray Media Group. KMOV is the sister station to fellow CBS affiliate KCTV and MyNetworkTV affiliate KSMO in Kansas City, MO

"News 4: "Always Something Extra" and "Never Stops Watching Out for You" is my favorite quote of St. Louis.
Is there sportscaster Dan Dierdorf during the Ultra Slim Fast commercial?

Dan Gray has worked at 2,4,5,11 in St Louis. I met him at Mickey Carol's wake. I met Mickey as well a few years before that. Both people were nice.

"You're watching KMOV Channel 4: The Vision of St. Louis"
That old rectangle logo has adapted a lot over the years, but now it’s gone. I miss it!
Flying screens, Great News Package is NBC Flagship, WTVF graphics, Richard Malmos voiceover and a lot of stuff!!!
From KMOV at CBS Saint Louis News 4 this morning
The theme at about 1:38 sounds almost identical to that of KABC-TV here in LA.

Is that sisterhood in ownership? I'd say they're part of a pretty big family at this point.

Jesus, the same theme is on every CBS network it seems
But it's damn catchy, though.
Memories
KMOX changes to KMOV 4 st louis but i like it :D after was own belo now gannet now sold to another company meterith corporation bc gannet had rival KSDK 5 nbc
James Bunch Jr If that went through, KMOV would’ve either:
1. Remained sister stations to WSMV-TV
2. Became a sister station to WKRN-TV
The rival station KTVI and CW affiliate KPLR is once now a sister station to WKRN, so you can get it.
CBF666: The Junkest Reviewer KPLR would have became a sister station to KMOV had the required divestiture to Meredith by Sinclair and Tribune during the Tribune-Sinclair merger occurred.
