I liked the fast pace, and the character development and the plot was strong. The narration was excellent. The background of Irish politics of the time, and the time period added a layer of depth to the story. Thank you for posting.
I have listened to quite a lot of audiobooks available on RUclips - but this one, I thought, was exceptional. A murder investigation in pre-1900 Dublin, very well written and expertly read. Engaging all the way through, with several twists in the plot.
I’m really enjoying listening to the story. Having lived in the area it’s more alive. Also knowing some history of the time adds to the atmosphere of the story . Love also the English.
Thank you so much for this intense story, the narrator was fantastic as he made the drama required for the book but at the very end feelings of hope. I felt so sad about the loss of the baby due to the violence of one of the characters but I’m so thankful for living in 2023 !
Wonderful audio book! The narrators voice was excellent. Please keep them coming. I loved the historical background and the beautiful descriptive scenes of the country side. Thank you!
Wonderful story and excellent narration. I also enjoyed learning a bit more about the Irish position under English governing and the workings of the Irish constabulary. Good job all around!
Thank you. This harrowing story was beautifully and sympathetically narrated. Major Kelly was a pompous, arrogant and sadistic character; it's horrible the English closed ranks to protect a violent killer. Politics and wars over religion cause so much pain and suffering. ❤ xxxx
I’m not sure if I commented on this book. But I really enjoyed listening to it. It was excellent to know the Districts as well which added to the enjoyment as well. It’s a pity I can’t find more audiobooks by Conor Brady.
I enjoyed this book. The reader's voice was pleasant and his enunciation was clear. I got a clear picture of the main characters. The ending was a bit abrupt. I wanted the criminals to rot in prison. I wanted to see Marie recovered, as well as Swallow. I'm hoping there are further books with these characters, or by the same author. Great job by both.
I am half way through at the moment , . The only down side to the reading is his pronunciation of place names . A little homework or a phone call to an Irish friend would have given him a heads up . Otherwise its going well.
☘I'm Irish and am enjoying this clear narration. I'd rather this, than narrators trying to fake Irish accents, of which we have many. Too many very different dialects, like other countries.☘
Loving this book- but where are the Irish accents? I started the book because I like thrillers but the Irish accent would be the icing on the cake. It really would have made the difference in my listening listening experience. But its a great story. Thank you!
Well, I puzzle over the rave reviews. To me, this was one long slog of monotonous narration employing strange accents. However. I am always grateful someone takes the time to offer these. Excellent technical quality.
I don’t get why people are praising the narrator. He has a nice voice, but there’s no inflection or emotional emphasis in parts that really call for it. He seems to be British, but the dialogue when playing Irish and German characters is entirely American. And it’s just completely monotone throughout, every voice sounds the same…personally the whole package very much takes me out of the otherwise decent, if a bit boring, story.
Ok at 2.59minutes in 2the book I know exactly who has killed that poor girl and I know why. I wont say. But I know 😮 Still gonna listen all the way through. The .... I wanna say who so bad. Lol Me thinks jealousy or anger was the reason She wasn't engaged withh the killer. But it was the cause.
Next time get an Irishman to read an Irish story. The pronunciation of place names and the Gaelic mother tongue was fekkin brutal. Nearly had to give up. Me ears were fekkin bleeding. Great story though.
Not every Irish person has an accent ' ! I was born and lived in Rathgar, spent many a day fishing off Portobello Lock with my brothers, they both went to ' Singers' ( Synge St.) and we have no accent, Dublin or otherwise.
It's as if the "big money" publishers and presses work in a freak show. It's their goal to be the most popular (bringing in most dollars and fans) star in the tent. At times it is hard to tell the reporters from the grifters.

Loving the story, and being a Dubliner , getting a kick out of knowing the areas it's talking about. I like the narrator too, except for a couple of things. There's about two lines of Irish in this book, and it was like someone just said " read it as best you can". It sounds nothing like Irish. I'm pretty sure if it were German or French they would have bothered to look up how to pronounce the words. After that, there were place names wrongly pronounced, and the victims brothers name actually made me laugh out loud. Capel street must have been mentioned 20 times...every one of them incorrectly. Come on! If you're reading it, a little research goes a long way.

The Orator was excellent
Congratulations Mr Brady
You nailed it 🎉
A straight forward engaging story with an excellent reading voice. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!!
Yes I thoroughly agree The Voice reading the book is just outstanding. Very easy to listen to.
I am Irish and the constant place naming is very irritating. I don't like the way he reads it doesn't sound natural.

The narrator was awesome. Easy to follow along. Great storyline too. Loved it.

The smooth switching of this narrator from British to American was trippy.

PLEASE no spoilers in comments. It ruins it for anyone coming after you.
You must get very upset by Israel bombing babies in Gaza, At least this book is only fiction.
Love the narrative and the speaker!!

very entertaining, good story and great narrator
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. No graphic descriptions of sex, no nasty language, just a really great story. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the feedback!
💡We're thinking about making an ad-free member only section. Thoughts?

No the ads are ok because there has only been one in every book I’ve listened too on the channel
So not bothered by them

A little less monotone??? It is an Oirish story and I did expect a great yarn to be better narrated. But still a great yarn, thank you all🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Reading the comments I won't listen , obviously oddball like it...

🤔
I spent too much time with this book. I thought the narrative slow and tedious.
Categorizing this "novel" as a thriller is over the top hyperbole.
Fed up with the Ads. I'm out, disappointing as fair plot. Found other utube businesses without Ads.
That's nice that they can fund their efforts without them. Have a great day!! ⭐️
@@booktvofficial Thank you, you too.
The ads seem to be short and sweet so far, not objectionable, which is quite unlike me to admit
I agree. That creepy, whispering voice popping in unexpectedly is unnerving.
