Phoenix i Hybrid Wheelchair - Everything You Need to Know in Under 5 Minutes

Is this the future of #WheelchairTechnology?
So glad to sit down next to the man, Andrew from @_phoenixi to talk about his latest innovation in the wheelchair industry.
I first saw this device when I did one of my "Wheelchairs of the Future" reviews. Never got the chance to sit in one until now. Let's just say, I'm a big fan 🪭.
Why?
(As always, not a paid advertisement, just sharing good stuff)
✅ Very intuitive - Just push on the push rims like you regularly would.
✅ 4 wheel drive - having powered casters means the chair is being 'pulled' over obstacles as well as being 'pushed' by the user with the back wheels
✅ Superlight weight - easy lift of the chair, even with the motors built into the chair
✅ Downhill braking! - Often when you want brakes included in your power assist, it's a lot more weight. Not in this case.
✅ Powered assistance in all directions - forwards and backward.
✅ Safety stop - if you hit a wall, it will cut out to avoid damage to the chair and user.
✅ Discrete motor - allowing the aesthetics for those who don't want the 'look' of a power assist
** Pulling vs Pushing - Horse 🐎 and Cart 🛒 **
You might be thinking, that those tiny casters and tiny motors would not perform as well as the bigger power assist on the market. Which often you'd be 100% right 👍 - lighter often means a drop 👇 in performance...
But! 🍑
When the assist device pulls from the front, the force aligns with the natural direction of the wheels, ensuring a more efficient motion. So you need less power to do the same job. Same reason why horses will pull a cart rather than push one.

These chairs are so cool. For those of us with sore shoulders from pushing for 38 years, that power assist would be amazing. How much does the wheelchair cost?

Not sure yet! Hasn't been released over here in Australia. I would say it would be comparable to most titanium wheelchairs w/ a power assist (like a Smartdrive)
