A huge thank you from a DR-Z 400S off-road rider. I kept losing power over rocky terrain. Going uphill I was over compensating the throttle thinking I was losing power from a bad gas delivery then looped the bike when full power came back on lol. After eliminating a bad gas delivery issue, was searching high and low looking for an electrical short somewhere I was dumbfounded to discover it was the damn kickstand sensor switch. Took a hard fall from looping it but luckily I was geared up and was only sore for a few days.
I love this channel! Hard to believe that, when you twist those two wires together - it creates a loop of somekind? Seems like would be strange to have that even necessary to go down that wire come back and keep the bike running. Wish the kickstand kill was an OPTIONAL safety feature from the factory. Great instructions as usual. I have learned a lot about the DRZ, exactly what I bounced on this channel the first time when learning the 3x3 & jetting. Thanks for sharing these vlogs.
It only shuts the engine off when it’s in gear wouldn’t have shut off for you when it’s still in neutral. I just wrapped a wire tie around my switch to hold it close all the time
Hey, you do a great job on your videos. Love the purple on your bike. I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my 2005 DRZ400S engine. Bought it in march as my first motorcycle/dirtbike. Rode it about 1000 miles and it locked up tight. Oh well, happens I guess. Hope I dont have to watch any engine rebuilds from you for a long time.
Good idea! Things kinda dangerous.. I wonder if you remove that switch and 'Fix' the button, somehow, make it like a 'Toggle switch' and hide it somewhere... You could set it and leave the key in it.. anti-theft device! Hm, 🤔. You think it's possible to change the switch on that spring button? Great video, man! Keep em coming! 👍
@@linksgarage1985 .. would you have to change the entire switch, (that looks like a good heavy 'waterproof' switch) If you could keep it, and just modify it, (Without replacing it) gut it out and make it like a toggle switch? I'm going to try that! 😂. Hide it inside the frame somewhere.. ,🙃
You can start the bike with the kickstand down no matter what but what happens when u put it into gear and start to go with the kickstand down? Thats when it cuts off normally
Probably won't do this since this isn't a problem for me, but I probably will do away with the clutch switch. I hate that it won't even start in neutral without pulling in the clutch.
All good man. I’m the opposite. I won’t be doing the clutch. I know there is a big green light for neutral, but 2 risky to bump it in gear. Good luck and thanks for watching as always.
How do you only have 4K subscribers you make some of the best content for drz mods
Thanks brother!! I appreciate you watching!
Exactly! We need to change that to at least 400K watchers
@@dcjano75 wouldn’t that be some shit! Ha. Got a few more good ones coming your way fellas. Stay tuned.
@@linksgarage1985 I will try to get more of the spotlight on you!
@@dcjano75 you rock bro. 💪🏼 thanks
Just did this last night, I appreciate the time & effort you put into these videos.

Damn man! Sorry you had to go through that. Hope this helped ! That dang switch will mess you up for sure. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!

I cant find your video where you put your fan on a switch...🤔
That’s because it doesn’t exist. 🤣. I never put my fan on a switch.

Congrats on the DRZ. Sorry about the lock up. Best of luck!
Great video Been waiting for this one. Are you going to do the clutch?
No. That one I’m cool with.
great diy brother !!! enjoy the weekend
Thank you!!! You do the same!
Good vid bro, thanks.
@@EShole very welcome. Thanks for watching!
Love the content, been invaluable! Are you going to be doing a video on the "free power mod" as it's known?
Thank you! And I’m not sure on the free power mod. I’ve had lots of request for it. Maybe I’ll put It on the list.
Nicely done. Dumb question: couldn’t you just have left that wire out after you removed it?…instead of butting the ends and reinstalling it?
Thanks. And I’m not sure. I think it would constantly read open if it was disconnected. 🤷🏻♂️

Yea. That’s what I meant. Correct
Where does the clutch switch plug into it's a safety switch where does it plug into
This would work the same for the clutch kill switch as well correct?
Probably. I kept that one.
Is purple back from the 90's?
For me it is. 💪🏼
Mine is 2024 dr400s is it the same? can i do it on mine?
