    My review of Luminar Neo
    ➜ www.digitalpho...
    Key Takeaways:
    - The reviewer eliminates Portraiture 4 and On One Photo AI early on due to their limitations in handling hair, eyes, and blemishes in the editing process.
    - Luminar Neo and PortraitPro are the top picks in the video for their comprehensive and automated tools. They both have the ability to blur the background, control hair and eye brightness, and manage blemishes effectively.
    - PortraitPro offers more intense adjustments and can significantly change the appearance of the subject, which may not be desirable for those seeking a more natural look.
    - Luminar Neo can add a glow or an "Orton effect" for an overall softness and includes an efficient tool for blemish removal, which could save a significant amount of time when editing multiple images.
    - The reviewer's personal preference is Luminar Neo for a more natural look and for streamlining the workflow, but also suggests that PortraitPro could be used selectively for certain jobs.
    - The video suggests that beginners might find Luminar Neo easier to use, while more professional portrait photographers might want to look at PortraitPro.

    Excellent comparison vid - straight to the points that matter and it was easy to see what each could or could not do. Thanks for doing this. I don't do a lot of portait work but if I do I go to NEO because it is easy to work with and gets excellent results. Your vid has just reinforced this!!! I have ON1 RAW 2023 but I always go to NEO for all my editing. I just can't get used to ON1 and NEO is so intuitive that I can't bring myself to try to re-learn a new software that seems to me to be more difficult to use.

      Glad you found this helpful. I find ON1 the full program not user friendly at all so it's not just you.

      What files do you work with. I thought about leaving Neo due to lack of basic editing tools and some down right horrible tools like super sharp

      @@Zetaphotography Who are you asking Nigel or me? I use raw files. Lack of basic tools, Neo has that. Develop and Develop RAW do all you need. What tools are missing?

    PortraitPro is definitely the superior option - for me! I want makeup options, smoothing body skin and detailed face reshaping tools. None of which LuminarNeo has. Thanks!

    I find adding grain gives the final portrait some bite, some weight. Digital at the higher end is far too cold, sharp and dry for my taste. This is great, thanks.

    I'd love to get your thoughts on Evoto AI. I've really been enjoying it lately and think it handles skin better than any I've tried. And the double chin tool is phenomenal. It's not perfect but it's currently my go to for final touches for most of my portrait work.

      The pricing structure seems like it is for pros only, you pay by image? How do they track that? Which package do you have?

    • @adamchandler8508
      @adamchandler8508 Год назад

      @@DigitalPhotoMentor I hadn’t either until recently. I don’t love that it uses credits but I does such a good job I’m willing to bite the bullet. Depending on how many images you edit a year it may be comparable to a standard subscription. I reserve it for headshots, senior portraits and such, not family portraits.

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  Год назад +1

      Thanks for telling me about it - I tried it and for me it's not a fit because it doesn't integrate with Lightroom as a plugin. I has a lot of nice tools and works pretty well. But some blemishes it missed I couldn't find a clone or healing tool to fix those and if someone has blemishes and freckles like the one portrait I used in the video it seems to not tell the difference and smooths them all out equally. But I could see it being a huge time saver for someone that does a lot of bulk portraits.

    • @adamchandler8508
      @adamchandler8508 Год назад

      @@DigitalPhotoMentor I bought the first package which was something like 1200 credits for $80. Each time you export an image that you've edited it uses one credit. I believe there's a trail in which you can export 5 images for free.

    Is the background blur on Portrait Pro the 2023 version? I just recently upgraded my computer and now I'm trying to figure out how I can get Portrait Pro on my newer computer so I can use it as a plugin within Photoshop. I always enjoy your videos!

    Hi,
    I'm getting color shifting issue in potraitpro studio 23 after importing the photo from potraitpro to Photoshop. I've changed the color profile in potraitpro but the issue is still there. Do you have any idea why is it happening?

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  6 месяцев назад

      What color profile are you using? Do you mean Adobe RGB versus sRGB? The issue is likely color management and what you have set in each program.

    Why not use both for their individual strengths.
    I use PortraitPro but still finish up in photoshop.
