Wow. That was a thick, large sheet of Aluminium and a lot, I mean a lot of custom parts and welding. Man... I hope you appreciate it, none of this was cheap... What a gift. Very generous.
Don't want to sound too negative, but this is a media world Matt receiving sponsorship and/or discount deals is because they deliver highly targeted eyeballs In marketing, long play with interested propective customers is the gold standard
A very well documented video.. Filming the process was outstanding (kudos for Janni) as well as the music and narration..Very well designed, engineered and executed..
What a lovely fellow Greg is. Let's hope his business does really well after this. Also I love the piece of music you play whilst the Inspector fulfills her duties 😂
This was another great video, Matt and Janni. Always good to see some metal tradesmen doing stuff. Greg knows his stuff and puts together a quality product.
What a very generous donation to the Duracell Project, it looks just amazing Greg , I hope you get snowed under with work after this gesture, 👍 great video work too , Graham L 🎉
I’m always awe struck at watching a true craftsman at work. Greg with the aluminum and you Matt with the sticky stuff. Thanks for, taking us along. Say hi to the Admiral for me. I’m happy to see it passed inspection.
Wow that was a big project, you made it look so easy I don't think everyone appreciates just how complex it is to have parts fabricated off site and have them fit first go around.
thanks to all the people who help you including Greg, your mom, your wife, the buddy from the boatyard and of course "the inspectour"! I bet you are having fun. How many people get to learn how to make their own gas tank.
This has been a really sattisfying episode, and moi, as a metal dude and product designer enjoyed it thoroughly. And Greg from AdventureMarine is an angel of a dude. Having him build this tank for you speaks volumes for how much merit you guys have on this wonderful project. I pray many more Gregs roll by for Duracell. And on a side note... the only explanation I see for you getting the weight of the tank so wrong is the fact both of you have suoerhero strength! PS: Is it just me, or more people out there also get the Le Paws theme song velcroed to their brains? Yesterday I was humming it for the entire evening! ; ⁰ )
Congratulations on getting your brand new tank in, it all seemed sooooo smooth. Another huge step forward, great episode. As always, sending good energy your way....Neil😊☘☘☘
Those welds are like laid down dimes, what a gift, great guy! Janni, you’re so cute, loved that shot in the shop! I’m sure the Inspector knocked off some points for not having any inspection covers installed, a real danger! LaPaz is so stinking cute!!!
Great episode; good to see welding in progress. Congratulations on all the successful scanning to get a tank that went in and fits in place first time - big achievement! One point of the design bothers me: you don't appear to have a pick up tube from the very bottom of the tank nor a bottom drain tap for taking fuel sediment samples. The reality is you WILL get water in there one day - from condensation, contaminated fuel supply, etc. - and you need an easy way to get it out again. Keeping the fuel dry is your best protection against diesel bug and all sorts of other fuel contamination problems that lead to major engine problems. The best is a fuel polishing system that samples from the very bottom of the tank, runs via separate filters and returns. Next best is a manual pump that samples from the very bottom of the tank into a plastic bottle you can inspect. You really don't want to have to displace your guests from their bunk, heave out the berth mattress, and open up those inspection hatches, just to have a look or to remove a small amount of water from eh base of the tank.
If I had a boat, I would use Adventure Marine. I like watching fiberglass fabrication, but aluminum is really interesting. I hope his gift pays him back tenfold.
Loved this episode! That fuel tank looks awesome and will serve your needs for many years to come. I like how it weighed in at 13 "inspectors"...🤣🤣 Greg is a true craftsman and I am sure his generosity is really amazing!👍👍
Absolutely fascinating video. This is why they’ve made aircraft out of aluminum for so many years. Such an incredible metal. We’re getting trained lol. Such a high quality video. Great job guys.
Thats a beautiful fuel tank. It's functional of course but it also looks stunning. It won't be seen by anyone using the boat in the future but you will know that you have a top quality piece down there. The Supervisor seemed to content too, so it's all good.
Greg did a very nice job on your tank You should feel very confident. He knows what he’s doing from the prep work before welding, as well as the fittings that he made very cool. Can’t wait to see the project finally completed and in the water keep up the good work.
really surprised that the inspector didn't enter the tank to do a thorough inspection. I really wish that I could participate in your restoration project. It looks like a really cool project.
Aluminum is very tricky. Glad a pro helped out so much. In your installation, be wary to keep ANY dissimilar metals away or isolated to prevent corrosion. Even metallic grinding dust. Support it well to avoid point loads and potential cracks.
Having family visit I was a whole day late getting to see this episode. It was totally worth waiting for, Greg was awesome, good explanations and of course Janneke's superb videography showed all we wanted to see, nice music, big smile and a beer. Thanks for taking the time to share this.
The Inspector might fail you for letting her step into the open inspection hatch. Very generous of Greg and Adventure Marine @AdvMarine for the custom fuel tank. And tanks for bringing us along.
Had my bow tank done in PE, and it was welded just the same way as yours. Like you I followed the whole process, and as mentioned before it was awesome to see pros working. Were Greg just not an Atlantic and all of North America apart I would not hesitate to commission my next custom welds. Great guy! Seems like you are a magnet to cool people! ❤
the weld has a GREAT LOOK, a good sign about quality. Your very personal Quality Control inspector seems to Agree and say : Well done Gentlemen. Bon courage and stay safe.
Hi guys, wow what an incredible Tank and thank you for showing how it all goes together and may God bless your mate for donating it to the Durasell project play God bless seem in a big way. Keep up the good work. Really appreciate you guys Cliff from Logan City, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺
Great field trip video! My tank was made from 5052 aluminum also. Seems to hold up very well over time. Mine could use a second inspection plate. You were wise to have a plate in each baffled section.
Yes, more Greg please!! One thing I think would be great to have on a tank is a petcock at the absolute lowest point that you could drain off any water and polish it via an independent Racor style filter.
Interesting that he said that the arc was shielded to keep contaminants out . While true the biggest "contaminant" is oxygen itself which will instantly oxidize molten aluminum ruining the weld. Its nice to see a craftsman at work. the quality of that tank is on par with the craftsmanship of the rest of the Duracell project.
Between Border Patrol and the harsh inspector at home, I can’t believe you’re getting away with this! Excellent video. I done had so much fun watching it.
Wow! Such an awesome video. Greg, you are a master at explaining the process and I gained such an admiration for your skills and quality workmanship. Thank you Janni & Matt.
Catdaddy!!!!! Anacortes is such a stellar place! I worked up there on the refineries … deception pass is without question the most stunning spot on the coast ….. but!!! Next time you’re there, they have a donut shop in Anacortes that has the BEST cinnamon buns and they are massive!!!!!!! So yum!
Oohhh yyaaa spent 30 years with tig torch. The last 6 running aluminum love it. Made fuel cells for anything and everything thing. Great to see your vision and Greg’s precision come together. That looks perfect. What a fit. 👍👍
I like the walter schultz / shannon boats approach - all the tanks can fit thru the companion way - no cutting up tanks or demolition of the boat to remove and replace - As he said all tanks one day will need to be repaired or replaced
In case you missed it in the video, Greg has a RUclips channel. Let's show him some love and subscribe!

If only there was a way to return the favor..... 🤔
@@minibigs5259you mean some fiberglass work or 75k views causing his phone to already be ringing?
@@larkangel6593 yup, a 25 - 27min video advertising his services would be a great way to do it. They should probably get on to that...
@@minibigs5259 There is, take him sailing. And put up his poster in the shop.
What a craftsman. Incredibly generous of him.

yes, we were
A very well documented video.. Filming the process was outstanding (kudos for Janni) as well as the music and narration..Very well designed, engineered and executed..
thank you, Frans!
I was going to say the same! Maybe the best episode yet Janni? Editing was 👌🏼, music was 👌🏼 and the crème de la crème was the inspection at the end. 💯
Great video, you can tell that guy is passionate about welding and he explains well. Better than some teachers 👍🏻✌🏻🇨🇦
I seriously enjoy watching experts at their craft
What a lovely fellow Greg is. Let's hope his business does really well after this. Also I love the piece of music you play whilst the Inspector fulfills her duties 😂

Great teamwork. I hope that this video will benefit his business in many ways
(And dinner from Maya too!) 😋
What a very generous donation to the Duracell Project, it looks just amazing Greg , I hope you get snowed under with work after this gesture, 👍 great video work too , Graham L 🎉
Sometimes I wonder if it's not the La Paz (The Inspector) moments that keeps me watching. Thanks Greg for your help with this project!
Canadians are the best! What a great job and awesome gift for the boat.
Awesome work. It looks like Greg is the man for the job! Amazing fit in the end.
Very fun to watch this one. 👍
thanks! Anyone reading the comments should totally check out Jon's channel! He's building a boat too! ruclips.net/channel/UCrhxxvqtQ8z3fIc_abwndsg
Oh no - cat fur in the fuel tank! Lovely welding and so nice to see you Matt and Janni again.
Likewise!

The Inspector might fail you for letting her step into the open inspection hatch. Very generous of Greg and Adventure Marine @AdvMarine for the custom fuel tank. And tanks for bringing us along.
we were heavily fined for her fall into the open inspection hatch. but at least she passed us!
Well done Greg, the roll of dimes you lay down is impressive!

we are indeed very lucky that Greg reached out to us! He made a perfect tank.
Beautiful welds!!
yep!
Well another great video clip. You live in a beautiful part of the world. The skill sets in NW USA and SW Canada is just incredible.
Very cool Matt, bit of metal shop instead of yacht shop..All good, great stuff
Wow,thats a solid favor!😊
