He is getting his family and the blessing of having a halal relationship that should help the both of them to jannah. If a man cant afford the amount of the dowry she is asking for he can state what he is able to afford. She may ask for whatever but its if you can afford it to begin with. If you cant then you cant or save for it. Or the couple can come to some sort of agreement. And the dowry is a marital gift ordained by Allah. And Allah knows best. Hope this helped some. However as a man if you can’t afford the dowry or the sister is not within your capacity to provide care then you shouldn’t marry her. There are some very good sister in our communities and there are very good men. I think our biggest issues is forgetting to put Allah first.
