- I've heard much about Philadelphia's large Muslim community: one that has solidified its presence in the fabric and culture of this city.
In this documentary, I aim to capture that presence, and tell the unique story of Islam in Philadelphia.
If you found this documentary valuable, please share the link with your family, friends, and social networks!
Let me know what your favorite part of the video was!
Honestly the whole thing. I think that there was a lot of wisdom shared.
The whole video, the whole thing. You did a great job Brother.
It was ironic that they stood in front of Masjid Al Jami'at talking to immigrants about how Islaamic Philly is. Philly's strong Islaamic presence was not created by immigrants, it was established by the largest group of Muslims-- Black people and families who converted to Islaam.
@@dawudabdullaah6977 brother if you watch the full documentary, past the first few minutes, the rest is all explaining as you said
@@badeesall of it
Subanallah that's why you have to take advantage of the elders while they are still with us. The shaykh Dr.Mukhtar Curtis has recently passed away may Allah forgive him for his sins and bless the brother @BadeesNouiouat and everyone who was a part of the compilation of this video ameen.
100% brother. I was privileged to be at his janazah and sit with some of the elders afterwards to hear their stories
@@badees mashallah unfortunately i wasn't able to make it to the janazah. I'm sure many of the elders were present being in there company is pricless.
Brother Muktur, gave me my Shahada may Allah(SWT) be please with him and grant him paradise.
Salam aleykum. Thanks for the documentary. I spent two Ramadan in Philadelphia in 2010 and 2011. I stayed in the mosque at night and met a lot of local Muslims. This was one of the best moments of my life. Very peculiar atmosphere at that time, and so much brotherhood.
Al-ISLAM ... The most beautiful thing I could have ever done for My Life!!! Born in Philly, I've come from a Family Who embraced Al-Islam in the 1950s❣🤲🏽🤲🏽🤲🏽🤲🏽🤲🏽💥🤩😎 Seek to please Allah💖
Alhamdulillah!

let's goooo new video. it's amazing to see how Muslims live in different places in America. thank you for your hard work and keep going 💪
Alhamdulillah that’s my goal. Thanks for watching bro 🤲🏽
MashaAllah! I loved this! The portion where the brother discusses his staph infection and how we ask Allah 17 times a day to be amongst those He loves, and what did those who He loves go through? That was DEEP.
Yes it was, I was really glad that he was able to share that impactful story.
As salamu alaikum I’m a Philly native born and raised and Philly is def the Mecca of the west we have our problems and May Allah help us but one thing is Allah blessed this city with Tawheed because no matter what neighborhood white black Chinese there is Muslims and Masajid wallahu Akbar
Dr Mukhtar has recently passed away, he was a staple n the Islamic community , may Allah have mercy on him & may we keep him n our duas Ameen
This was really good ! I live outside of Philly and spend a lot of time in North / North East so this was a good showcase ! I found this vid because I’ve been doing a ton of research and trying to learn things about Islam. I’ve been thinking about becoming a revert and this vid helped me out a lot when it comes to the brotherhood of Islam ! Very much appreciated !
Thanks Toney! Awesome to hear that you enjoyed the video and are thinking about Islam. Feel free to hit me up on IG @badees98 if you need anything!
@@badees Thanks fam ! I appreciate that
There are no ''reverts'', in fact the very term is discriminatory, as no child is born one religion or the other. To say otherwise promotes supremacy.
You did an excellent job with this video ahki May Allah reward you .
Ameen thank you Akhi
As Salaamu ‘Alaykum. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un. Sh. Muhktar Curtis has passed away. By the Permission of Allāh , his Janazah is tomorrow 2/18/24. I come to this video often and came immediately after I heard the news , May Allāh reward you for highlighting him in the documentary. May Allāh make his grave spacious , filled with light and allow him to answer the three questions correctly.
Where will his janazah be?
@@badees forgive me Ahkee, Philadelphia Masjid. 12:15pm.

Marshallah this was very good! I'm in south Florida and the Islamic culture is not big here especially black Muslims. I was introduced to Islam by a brother of mine from up north so its normal for him I relate to this video so much because it's explained exactly what I deal with here alhamdulillah
Preciate you for watching! Wishing the best for you and your community inshaAllah

Hopefully next time you come and visit the Germantown Masjid community in sha Allah, very active and thriving community in North Philly
Maybe one day!
I think it's important for ppl to know that Germantown isn't the only Masjid n the city that practice the Sunnah, unfortunately some ppl think that,.
@@kevinhoyle8367 Nothing of the sort was even said or mentioned on here but ok.
Beautiful!
Inspired me to visit Philly

MashaAllah i was wondering since my point of view in Philadelphia was the worst place of homeless drug and people of depression which i just saw on social media, It was surprise that its not true but a place where you can find many Muslim around it. Alhamdullillah May Allah protect you and your family. BarakaAllahu fikuum brother
Unfortunately the media only emphasizes the negatives. I’m glad my video helped you see that it’s not all bad!

I would love to live near dr tahir masjid. He has knowledge
Sounds like Birmingham in the UK
Salam walaikom akhi, better not to use the music habibi, jazaka Allah khayran
This speaks to the fact that religion will not clean up a neighborhood of its social ills. People alone can only do that. At the very least, I enjoyed the humanness of this mini-documentary even if I disagree with Dr. Wyaat's Islamic world view. Thanks for posting.
Salam from Azerbaijan
Wa alaykum assalam akhi
Muslims are killing each other in Philadelphia. Sisters have too. Jananzas too many
I was given percaset after surgery it took away the pain but I hated to how weird it made me feel.
Thanks for sharing your story
Didn't Omar ibn Sayyid die as a AME christian?
Highly doubt it brother. In the context of his life it makes sense that it wasn’t authentic. Additionally, his story and the facts that reached us may have been biased.
@@badees l was wondering because I excepted Islam in Fayetteville NC at Masjid Omar IBN Sayyid back in the mid 80s and authentic Hadiths were strongly rejected! I pray to the one that has my soul in his hand that the Muslims except the authentic narrations of our beloved Prophet (SAW). Aameen ya Rubb!
