The title: 'Hundreds of tenants given less than a week to find new homes', is at odds with what is said at 1:01, that tenants were given eviction notices a couple of months ago. It's sad that people are being kicked out through no fault of their own but...
If they're being evicted with an N13 and the units aren't being demolished, these tenants all have the right to move back in when the repairs are finished. They would pay the same rent, too.
Just evict everyone because they need repairs. Wow the people who are paying $850.00 obv. The new tenants will be paying about $2000. Wow greedy landlords
Walmart, Canadian Tire will have tents available for sale to these tenants. Lots of open space in Gore Park or Gage Park for the residents of this Renoviction to be placed. Andrea Horwath as Mayor of Hamilton should be getting onto this as soon as possible to make camping available in all parks and open vacant lots of Hamilton. Modify existing vacant buildings into affordable housing units not government controlled like Hamilton Housing with its 10 year waiting list but citizen controlled so people are placed quickly into vacant units around the City of Hamilton and surrounding communities of Ancaster, Dundas, Waterdown, and Grimsby.
Good Temp solution, you can turn a tent into a comfortable space to sleep, but I like the Sigle Homes they are building in one of the American cities, just bigger than a half transport truck, self contained with a space between you and the home next door. She might not think it now but spending your Golden years with a Yard right out the front door with some room for a flower bed and people about is better than in a dim apartment with A/C and isolation. Still a shitty thing to do, but this a problem that has many faces and Canada has to address the homelessness issue being created, we live in a winter Country. We might as well do what is right the first time, we are going to have to eventually anyways. Cheers! 🍁
This is happening in my building. A big crooked slum lord bought up 300 million in building's and the place has turned into a slum. My building of 23 units already has 10 empty apartments. Dont tell me there is a housing shortage. Its a greedy corporation with housing being the new Wallstreet.
They were notified months in advance, the building is falling into disrepair and they have been compensated 4500 dollars. How the heck is this a problem? They put off finding a new place for months?
Bed Bugs.... take the 4500 and watch that they do the renovations and repairs. It's too late to fight this from there, They will just remove you. And get a Lawyer, I don't think they can do that without the City Condemning the property which makes it a hassle for them to reopen it if that is the intent. They would probably need to go through the whole building like a new build which means they would need to replace everything that was iffy. Wiring Plumbing, structural.... and those damn bed bugs. They look like they are "in the building" crawling in groups like that in the day time and away from upholstery.
They are doing what needs to be done to fix it .... don't rely on others for your housing ... move to a cheaper place in a another city ... welland ...
This is what happens when you don't let landlords charge the market rate for their properties. With rising costs for landlords, events like this will become more and more common. A fresh coat of paint and some new carpet and they will be able to get double what they're charging the current tenants. Would you be a bad person for taking a 100% pay raise at work?
Except they can't terminate the tenancy with an N13, if these tenants know their rights then they know they have the right of first refusal when the renovations are completed.
if only they were refuges than politicians would care.
Nice zenn diagram 👍😈😆
then not than
This is sad it's happening in Canada
If they have a lease that letter is not legal to evict them.

Typical criminal money grubbing landlords. Its so typical, here in Kelowna the landlords should be in prison
Go to city they will give you a free tent and a sleeping bag and also tell which parks are open for camping

When people ask me why I wouldn’t die for this country…
Its so hard to watch 😢
We can all thank Trudeau and he doesn't care
This really motivates me to plan retirement elsewhere.

Welp, stop voting Liberal and NDP and this will stop happening.

Church should take them like the migrants !
Hamilton use to be an affordable city. It’s become such an expensive hole.
Same problem in Kamloops, BC
Everywhere!
Thanks to Toronto.
@@shauncameron8390 exactly and the mentality too.
When I first moved here rent ws like $500. I moved here because Burlington was too expensive
Crazy stuff. How do they survive? I'm sure most tenants will stay and have to be forced out by police. But where do they put them?
Goodbye!!
That's illegal!! 3mths notice. Renos?? Or wanting more money!
We have big immigration numbers with no plan for shelter, the Liberals have failed Ontario, There are no rental units available.
Some migrants don’t like to come here the coming because of your gouvernement tell them live us alone we need to live like human beings
I can't understand what your point is. If you are a migrant and you don't like coming to Canada, then don't.
I didn’t get it ?
Sure blame the landlord ... but what has the government done ? .
Is sick more people will be homles with prices naw no one can afford tent they can renovate one by one is bugs I would not live there anywhere
They are doing what needs to be done to fix it .... don't rely on others for your housing ... move to a cheaper place in a another city ... welland ...
good lib voters how can this happen
América love it or live it the need more money for the appartement
Huh??
Your comment makes no sense.
