Good timing. I just started a project similar to this last month. Can't wait to have fresh fruit of my own in just a few years. I didn't know until recently you could get starter trees that will produce in 1-3 years depending on variety. I always thought you had to wait years and years to grow a big tree.
Looks like a fun project! I've done a lot of work like this and I definitely suggest putting extra on off valves through tout the system incase you ever have a leak on one of the lines and forsure give yourself a couple places to tap off of easily incase you ever want to add more lines to the system!
My great uncle has been outdoor gardening with raised beds here in AZ about 100 miles south of you, he has mesh screen (smaller than chicken wire) surrounding the area and has misters lining the frame. He says it's helped the birds and varmints and the misters have helped keep it cool during the hotter months. And he says it's a must to strategically plan what and when to plant with the seasons. Spring and Fall are great producing seasons for a lot of stuff here in the desert. I can't wait to see what's to come of what you started doing in your backyard, much love 🤙
I have been excited for this video ever since you mentioned doing it. In my head, I was like I can give you lots of tips that use your grass clippings and leaves. You ain't got no grass boy! For real though. Your setup is getting very well dialed. If I was to add any help here it would be to incorporate a shade clothe for the veggies. Some tend to bolt early because of heat and or light. Also to buy you're seeds as local as you can. Usually there is vigor breeded into those plants that are suited for your environment. However, you probably already know this cause you are Mr. Grow It😎 It's going to be VERDY NICE!
Awesome project. The hugelculture thing is great but please search for the oldest most decomposed logs you can find. The reason is that wood sucks up a LOT of nitrogen as it decompses and it can take several years for it to release into the soil. So if you find old rotten wood you'll help the process. Also you'll probably need to add nitrogen for a while for the same reason. And yeah, I'd use mulch. But it can be the same and suck nitrogen so maybe you can find some old mulch that has composted for a while. Good luck with your backyard Eden!
You have a large garden and I would use it. In both containers I would plant only low plants like spices and herbs. I would use some of the corners of the garden for tomatoes and peppers by enriching the soil first. For a family about 10 tomato roots with a good structure to tie them. At the end of this space you can plant some corn and peas to enrich the soil.
looks just like my neighborhoods in AZ. im in the process of landscaping a Acre that looks exactly like this. It takes time and patience but its so damn rewarding once you get everything up and running.
Did not know that CO had Palo Verde trees, too. Reminds me of the valley in AZ. If you are in AZ, you should hit me up. Get you some of my hand blown glass into your hands. 🤘💚🤘
Very cool, or hot lol. I’m interested in ways to grow outside in the hi desert. More on how much water the trees need. I do know that if you have a fire going close to the base of your tree it will rage from the extra carbon monoxide, I believe is what fire releases? Very cool thank you and looking forward to more gardening outdoors with Mr. Grow It.
Classic vegas back yard. Walled in like a prison yard lol. Good to see you doing that. I always felt those that do a native/non grass yards there should get a tax break. Growing a lawn in the desert is one if the silliest things. Kills the water supply. Leave it native...its a desert. Not a golf course lol.
If i lived where i could grow citrus i think i would plant two each orange naval and i dont know but if i could i would grow those little tangerines and a couple regular tangerine and lomons it looks like you have a big yard and you could create a fine food forrest Good luck and Merry Christmas
They say hugelkultur is self watering and I’m sure it is, but I haven’t found any trouble watering them the same amount as the non-hugelkultur beds next to them
The first thing I would dop with that yard is get about 15 truckloads of woodchips. It may be unsightly the first few months, but after it starts to decompose you will never need to water your trees again.
Yea, make friends with a local tree surgeon and or landscapers and let them dump clippings and biomass and cover that space with a foot or 2 of future soil.
I’m living in Australia, in my back yard I’m growing a passion fruit plant since year and a half ago, this year it finally had the first harvest with more than 300 fruits! We are eating them all and sharing with friends but the market price is Aus $1.5 per fruit 🎉🎉😊
Fly me out. I’ll install your irrigation, 😆. Might as well make it a 4-zone and water the rest of the yard. Or atleast run the extra zones and cap them off to add on to future. The ditch will already be open
Wow brother things look bangin!!! Great job. Can’t wait to see it in person!

congrats man! love your content!
Nice 👍 love this type of video coming from you. You can use the leftover chips in your raised garden after the stumps are grinded down.
Cool, Nevada growing 😮 ❤

Nice Projekt 😮❤
Self-sufficient me have those raised beds❤
Will you need to worry about scorpions in your raised beds? Curious about how that works in desert type areas
looks just like my neighborhoods in AZ. im in the process of landscaping a Acre that looks exactly like this. It takes time and patience but its so damn rewarding once you get everything up and running.
I was thinking it looked like AZ
i think he is in vegas but AZ native as well
A bunch of fruit trees and a dog.😂
With your fruit trees are you going to use elevated raised beds as well?
Did not know that CO had Palo Verde trees, too.
Reminds me of the valley in AZ. If you are in AZ, you should hit me up.
Get you some of my hand blown glass into your hands.
🤘💚🤘
Hiya bud. Have you visited viragrow? They are located towards north las vegas. I use they're soil for my outside garden.
Hello from Peoria AZ
Be sure to add a hose bib hook up near the raised beds.

palo verdes are good nursing plants to start others in the shade.

I'm just commenting so the algorithm knows how dope you are.
I mostly know you for the medical plants but you mention other plants from time to time but I'd love to hear your talk more about general gardening
You should look up garden foresting I think that's what it's called but anyway it is basically a garden around your trees
This is awesome! Me and my lady has big plans for our back yard as well and have already started a couple raised beds!
Have you considered working Orbeez into the soil lol? Its what theyre designed for and the break down but hold a ton of water.
You should hook up with the Millennial Gardner.

Why not use Blumats instead so you don't have to add the two zones?
Drip Irrigation

U need to hook up with growing your greens on you tube he lives near you and could give you some tips for growing there
Keep in mind that fruit trees attracts mice.
I think he's in Nevada
Rent a chipper. Or buy a used one at a pawn shop. Not worth buying a new one as a Desert Homeowner.
dude moved to mars

Learn how the locals grow before you start. Ray's badge won't do it. Your season will be short.🤔🫡
