I just queued this for download on my Xbox game pass. I love old school arcade style fighters. Takes me to back in the day when I would hit up the arcade with my dad.
If anyone's wondering, Ukyo is coughing because he has tuberculosis. Also, if memory serves me correctly, back in the day they thought apples helped fight the disease. That's why he always has some on him, and uses them for his attacks.

But today I realized why he's running from the girls, it's not only his girlfriend that he doesn't want to disappoint, but he doesn't want to infect anyone either. This game was so well thought out it's nothing short of a masterpiece of art, down to every little detail! :) Personally I preferred Galford! Doge (puppy) rules!
I knew this had a reputation as one of the towering classics of the fighting game genre, but I didn't expect it to look so damn satisfying. I can't wait for it to come to Virtual Console!
This is one my favorite 1994 SNK game, I beat the game by using Jubei, the one with the katanas and I beat Mizuki the one who's the last boss, and got a good rank on my score that was just enough to have it on the Top Ranking List.
The characters Hanzo and Jubei were actually based on historical warriors who went by those names. In other words, Hanzo and Jubei did exist, and in today's modern culture, they appear in video games, books, manga, anime and film.
And I noticed a couple rounds near the beginning of the video where you might have been able to finish the round immediately if you used the CD version instead of the D version. Sorta beats having to fish for one last poke to kill the opponent at the very end of the round. Just my 2 cents. Good video though.
I can't believe there is someone out there this damn good at this game because I got the collection and I know the makers programed the game to cheat their ass off.LOL!
it does take skill to get a perfect every round even on the easiest difficulty setting...you may get hit once or twice on that level so it is a bit impressive you managed to stay untouched
was the referee not a secret character that you could fight against at some point? like jade, smoke or reptile in the MK series before they were playable characters?

and ninja scroll is based off....ninponcho by futara yumada and that is in turn based of the koga ninja scrolls, which is in turn based on myths and history. Take hatori hanzo that guy appears all over the place as a ninja which is weird cuz the real dude he was a samurai known for his spear techniques...
Hmm, I don't know if doing the combo off a jump-in forward+AB into AB > AI would make the CD version not guaranteed, but I know that whenever I can get an AB off whenever I play, I usually get the CD version guaranteed off the standing AB. Granted, I never go for an AB off a jump-in f+AB since I still don't know the timing for the standing AB to connect, but I can't imagine it would change the on-hit property of the move...

I am curious why you never use the CD attack for Ukyo's afterimage special move. Sure, it leaves you open if they block but it does substantially more damage in combos.
Maybe at this time when recording this clip, he had not recognized there is a CD attack. The same like me, I had finished the rounds of this game a lot of time before I knew that there is a CD attack. This video bring me back to a very nice memory nearly 20 years already. ;).

you are using a cheat code, there is no way you could have went through haohmaru's crescent slash uppercut, in ss2 that move was invincible at the start and could counter anything especially standing attacks, definte cheat code or enabler.

I noticed that when you do the AB > AI attack combo, you use the D AI attack. Does that do more damage than the CD version?

Yes. Every now and then after a battle, the ref would jump in and start one with the player....and usually get the crap beat outa them.
