I started using your plotting method a few weeks ago, and it's great! It's useful if you're writing a multi-pov book because there you can organize each character's screen time - for example, next to the chapter number, you can add "(character's name)'s POV". As for the setting tip, oddly I've always used this tip because the settings and descriptions were one of my favorite things when writing, but now I realize how useful it really is! :)
i feel like writing [name]'s POV might not look that good on an actual book, so you might want to simply write the characters name below the chapter number instead.
@@71002 It was an example for a plotting doc, not an actual chapter doc.
@@YazzyFairy oh, my apologies. it appears as though i misread your comment, sorry about that. but yes, for plotting, your idea would probably work better.
@@71002 No worries, that happens to all of us!
I also like to add a third column for chapter name because I like naming my chapters :D
Me too :0
Same 😂 it helps me understand the general gist/idea of the chapter and it’s purpose to the overall story
Me too!!!
I like naming chapters but I can never think of names lol
I used to not plot my stories but I started using your plotting method and it’s helped so much. Like it helps me see the direction of my story and know what makes sense. I haven’t written a whole book yet I mostly write short stories but I feel like if successfully be able to write a book with this method. After plotting it’s SO easy to write.
i definitely agree because i just plotted my first chapter!!
Been doing table plotting for ages! So simple and efficient. I have no idea how i've never thought to first think of settings to write a scene. That seems so obvious now and I can't wait to start plotting my chapters. Great tip, love your videos :)
Ur plotting videos are always so interesting (as someone who plots quickly too I love these!). And yes tables are so helpful!
Ooh, I love the idea of brainstorming settings to inspire what scenes could happen in them! Writing a list of mine now 💕
I just finished writing like my first two chapters and you're videos help me a lot to re-discover my affinity for it this weekend. so thanks. I kinda had a general outline and then just wrote the story and let the character dictate where things would go.
right while i was plotting my new project !! heh
thank you so much for your videos, you motivated me to not give up my dream of being an author
i just found your channel and omg i’m in love! this is the exact kind of content i need rn
yayy! so glad we can be besties 🥺
Wow I love the idea of this template. What an easy way to organize and see the overall novel at a glance. I love your channel
you have no idea how much your comment has made my day! aww thank youuu
I'm am just starting a book, and your content helps ALOTTTTTTT. I want my book to be flowing, and easy to read. And I think your content will really help me. Thank you!!! :]
I'm wanting to plot a new story so this was much needed!! Even tho I shouldn't be plotting a new book cuz my other project isn't done yet but I want to plot it soo bad 😭😭
Samee.I have too many ideas and Im scared Im gonna forget about them by the time I finish my first project😳😊.
@@marteguri1046 this is sooo true, but i also don't have enough time to plot it all 😭😭
i like to plot my ideas right when i get them, since it doesnt happen often, but honestly im working on like 11 novels right now
For writers wanting to know how to plot I highly recommend reading "Save the Cat Writes a Novel" by Jessica Brody. Also "Write Your Novel from the Middle" by James Scott Bell. Those books changed a lot for me and my writing because now (I'm a plantser), I can have certain beats guiding me through the story while I still have enough room to explore and don't plot the story in too much detail :)
Wishing you a happy and wonderful new year and sending you love and creative vibes
This is the best plotting method I have ever seen. Thank you!!!
I watched this video with no actual plot written whatsoever beforehand and in about an hour after watching it, I got 4 chapters plotted and have many more ideas for the upcoming ones. Your tips are great!
Update: Just finished plotting up to chapter 7 just by following your tip with the setting. It helps so much and it makes my plot so much more interesting.
I’m using your table strategy to plot my book rn! I’m excited and nervous, this is my first ever romance project 😅
girl your videos are saving my life
I love these videos, even though I don't really ever plot (more of a pantser) but I've been wanting to try and plot a new idea of mine since I feel as if it needs one. Thanks Ana, hope you get better soon 🤍🤍.
Congrats on 40k 🥳🥳🥳!
Have a great new year, y'all! This is our year 💪🏻
And now i become fans of this channel because its sooo helpful for new writer. Thank you and keep post new content.
Hi ana! You can't imagine how this helped me so such with my plotting🙌🏽💗 Tysm!
Currently binging your videos because I want to try writing a book, you are such an inspiration! Your methods seem very helpful, let's see what I'll manage to create in the end of the day! Thank you for sharing all these great tips with us, you're my favourite
This helped me organize my scenes really well! Thanks!
Congo Ana, you have over 40k subscribers now!!! 🎉🎉
Your videos never fail to inspire me to write! You always have wonderful advice right when I need it. Thank you so much🥰
aww ur so sweet! i am so so glad you find helpfulness in my words!!
THIS IS JUST DELICIOUS, I LOVE THIS PLOTTING.
I think using this method is a lot stressful than what people may do. Thanks for the wonderful tip ana, you just saved me from stress...
By the way, could you do another video of reacting to sub's character's? I would love to see more of everyone's characters! Also, HAPPY ALMOST 41k!!!
Yea, it'd be amazing if u could do a video like that Ana! And HAPPY ALMOST 41K!!!!! ❤🎉💫
Hoping we’ll see that sample dark academia plot in one of your future WIPs (or weekly short stories haha) that sounded interesting!!
Hi Ana I'm first, I always enjoy your videos and you always inspire me to write
Excellent advice! I'm working on implementing your tips right now! Thanks!
If I'm being honest, this was a very helpful video. like really! I, myself as a writer struggles with it a lot and knowing there is a way easier method was just... wow! thnx ana. Have a nice day =)
I'm using this asap! Thank you so much!
Could you please make a video of how to plot a story or like you plotting a new story idea?
ohmygosh, YESSS I needed this SO much!! Your videos are always SO helpful!!! I'm a MAJOR paster, so this is soooo helpful!
Hey Ana! I was wondering if you could make a video/podcast episode on writing character voice. I have been struggling with recently in my duel POV novel and any advice you have concerning it would be much appreciated. I can't thank you enough for the help you have given me with my writing through your content.
seriously my goal now is to have an organized desk like ana's
it’s my first time writing a fantasy genre and i have like ten characters who will end up in each other’s life but they also have their own plot and it seems so hard to start the first draft.
so i was wondering if it’s a good idea to write all of their stories separately and then put it together and edit as a second draft.
because the first page is hard to write and i’m really hyped up about side characters more than the lead ones 😭😭
Congrats on 40k!🎉
I’m currently using campfire for everything thank you for recommending it
I love your videos!!! They are so helpful
Thank you Ana for this video sorry I was late. This was helpful.
Thank you for this sis 🙏🏾
I started using your brain vomit technique
SO HELPFUL AND USEFUL
Hey Ana, you've inspiried me to Start writing my own book
Or maybe I've written the story before writing and planned the outline in the middle of writing the story 😅
Hi I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos and your novel ideas, they are all so incredible and original and you inspired me to write my own novel recently :) I have a question though, what app do you use to edit your video's because I really like the editing you do? If anyone else knows what it is can someone plz tell me!
Your account looks so aesthetic
Love your videos
What do you plan to do once you finish a book? Like is there a goal for it to be actually published or do you put it on any reading websites or platforms? Or are these books more just for yourself
Hopefully publishing or polishing your skill to get picked up. Of course, the original motivation would be that you want to write
I really should do this…she says while writing completely without thinking about more then the current scene
I know that’s dump af but i literally don’t have the energy to do this anymore (currently on 70k words)
Brilliant Ana, thank you
For some reason I prefer plotting to actually writing. I plot extremely but I still struggle to actually start the writing😪
I have the opposite -- I write really well, but struggle to plot --- I just let my mind run wild, then spend a lot of time editing. I have so many ideas, write them down but don't plot out each chapter. hanks Ana, you have good ideas that I'll put to use.
ana do you know that you're on nanowrimo's official blog?? freaked out when i saw it omg
Can you make a video recommending books for 12+ pls 🥺
I have all my ideas and plot and everything. However I struggle heavily with how they will get to the big parts of the story. Like for example John has powers and then his friend kills him later on in the story. But I don’t know how they get there to the point! Do you have any recommendations? You brought it up in your other video and you worded it as “A to point B” I struggle with this a lot or do you perhaps think it will all come together if I just plot?
I've been really stuck on starting my story and getting the plot going, my most difficult problem is that I have parts of the plot ready and there but *how* exactly do I get from plot point a to b?
This template is simple and nice, it's quick and easy for me to understand!
Though if you don't mind answering this question Ana, can you use this template to just put down plot points and not exact chapters? I'm not really sure on how long I want each of my chapters to exactly be..
0:22 i saw inosuke's poster in almost all her vlogs and vids but i had to comment about it >:)
Settings create action right?😊
Hey I need your help!
I started writing like 4 months ago but i write some chapters and then i like stop liking it and start a new one. I have started six. What can i do?
My book is Mlm Zombie-Human love story I’m stuck on how to plot the first scene
30 mins early!!
so I'm still learning about these "writing things" and I still don't understand what plotting is.
Hi, I can help. So basically plotting is like planning out the basics of a story (characters, conflict, scenes in the story, settings, etc) before you actually start writing the story. Hope that helps 🤍
@@mettabel8097 Thank you so much!!
@@Jujutemblog you’re welcome ☺️
I’m happy I could help
Interesting.
I’m pretty young so I was wondering when should I join NaNoWriMo? Like what age or stage in my book writing, is there a certain number of manuscripts I need to do? Do I have to be really skilled in writing? I am of course not the best but I see potential in myself :). Is NaNoWriMo hard to compete in? If there is something else important please let me know, I really would like to enter NaNoWriMo but I don’t know if I’m cut out for it, or the young NaNoWriMo program?❤❤ You definitely have helped me so much in trying to make a manuscript! I hope I didn’t waste your time❤❤❤ :)
