The best use I found is sewing dark coloured fabrics, especially black. You can actually see very clearly where you’re stitching. I love mine! 😃😍
It's also good in general for those who are visually impaired.

Not all the way, no. You can close it until it stops against where the device stands proud where it plugs in.
