      Not to worry, Mrs. Cremona. Those who click "thumbs down," have either done so in error, or are part of the RUclips sub-human species often referred to as "Sniveling Troll Losers." These types live in a suffocating, poisonous reality filled with feelings of jealousy, hatred, and self-loathing that they desperately want to transfer to those whom they envy.

    What an absolutely stunning piece! Really beautiful! And it's especially satisfying to know that you probably slabbed the boards yourself from a suburban tree removal somewhere, then from there to drying it and working the lumber down into its final dimensions, then into this amazing heirloom, like someone in the mid-18th century crafting in this style. Well done!

    I'll be honest it's not the type of furniture that I would buy for my home - but man is it beautiful! The aesthetics - although not my favourite - are undeniable, your skills and attention to details are simply masterful. The matching of the wood grain throughout this project is probably my favourite part and I am smiling at the idea of how nice it will look after a few years of maturing. I hope these pieces remain in your family for generations - that would be the most fitting tribute to your work.

    Matt: Your Guild project is at the top of my wish list! I built a queen anne lowboy a few years ago along with my wife for one of our granddaughters when she turned 13. Lucky girl! My wife did the ball and claw carving on the feet and the front shell. And yes, we work well together. Now she (my wife) wants me to build the highboy. She doesn't care that we already have a nice commercially made one in our bedroom. :) I'll use that as an "excuse" to get some more expensive tools!

    Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ruclips.net/user/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

    • @jeremyspecce
      @jeremyspecce 6 лет назад

      froggleggers well, Trent Preszler makes canoes that take a year to build and he sells them for $100,000. I think this only took Matt 5 or 6 months so you should be able to get it for under $50,000 by that math!

    • @froggleggers1805
      @froggleggers1805 6 лет назад +2

      It was a serious question.

    • @jeremyspecce
      @jeremyspecce 6 лет назад +6

      froggleggers I mean, I was being funny I guess, but that canoe IS an actual example. I think this took Matt about 5 months to make. If he only worked 5 hours a day on weekdays only that would be 500 hours. I'm sure it was much more, but we'll play it conservative for easy calculation. It's highly skilled "labor" so I'd say it's easily worth $100 an hour. That's $50,000 right there, so it really isn't that out of line with what a reasonable cost may be if you were to have something like this custom built to order.

    That is quite possibly one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen made. This is at the top of the list for aspirational woodworking. The effort you put in for the molding miter matches at the top alone is pretty amazing. Well done!

    My parents owned an antique Chippendale highboy very much like this one. When my Mom passed a few years ago, my older brother took the highway, dang it.
    One of my aspirations as I grow as a woodworker is to build a replica of that piece in mahogany. When I get to that point, the example you have provided (plus the plans and 36 detailed videos, which I will be purchasing) will be a huge part of what helps me get there.
    Thank you, Matt!

    I watched your entire build without interruption. I must say to you, in my opinion, without exception, you are truly a master carpenter and precise woodworker. Absolutely fantastic and quite amazing. I only wish I possessed the skill. The product was incredible and very impressive. Keep care of those fingers, they are competent and exact. Accidents happen quickly, take great care!

    WOW!
    The patience necessary to finish such a complex piece. The man hours to see it through. The issues, mistakes and problems that you must of had to persevere through. I've seen so many projects like this started and pushed into the corners of the shop due to these factors and dozens more. I admire your tenacious character and your skill as a Master Craftsman.

    Good afternoon Matthew from the UK. I know this is a long time after you put this feature onto You Tube but I just had to add a comment.
    Usually I watch all your log sawing activities and always enjoy them, and fascinated by the different grain patterns you achieve.
    However I have only just seen the feature of your work building the Queen Anne Highboy unit. Absolutely superb, I never thought of you as a woodworking craftsman but this work is outstanding. I always envy the wood which you Americans have available but in the final analysis it has to be 'worked' and you certainly have done that very well. Thank you for a most enjoyable feature.

    When you consider Matt built the saw that cut the wood, THEN, used that wood to build this piece. Well, you have something, and someone, who is very talented indeed. Well done Matt.

    A person may understand there is value in knowing something is hand made but to see what actually goes into doing it doubles its value. I am truly in awe at watching this piece come together. I can honestly now appreciate what others can feel in fine music. Matt, if I could afford it I would commission a piece from you. Finding that which is within us and be able to express it so well is just beautiful. .................... In other words, Matt, ain't half bad!
