I can't speak for Tim, but I think that one fell into the category of "foot out, try not to hit the deck" category. One minute you're on the middle of the trail that's fairly clear, and the next you're slightly off center and the leaves are just waiting to take you down.
2010Stinkbomb Charles is pretty good with it at this point. He can set the angle slightly down from default so that it gets what is right in front of the rider better than if it were set to stay level with the horizon.
