Hey! I'm glad that you played our game. I do agree that the early game is not super great (it was made during a time when Pilgrammed was a lot more experimental and didn't have a set principle on how mobs were made), so I'm sorry that it soiled the combat for you.
If it offers any respite, the later stages of the game, particularly the bosses, are way more enjoyable. If you ever do decide to join again, I would recommend playing the whole game instead of leaving after the early game. It might shift your perspective a bit more.
    Thank you for playing!!

Unlike most of the scumbags on the platform, you don’t have to be paid with scummy microtransactions in order to create something amazing. Speaking from experience, those frost assassins are the SHITTIEST enemies in the game. The frost cones they summon can't be parried or blocked and they use it as often as their normal attacks, making it nearly impossible to fight it properly, and is the most outrageous stat check in the entire game.
The game definitely shines the brightest in its boss fights though, as they'll be your main goal when starting out and would indicate how far you've progressed. They did hide one of the main bosses in a fucking cave at a corner of the map, and they also made a secret endgame boss and placed it behind a hidden area, with the unlocking of the fight you'd need to travel across the ENTIRE map interacting with buttons ALSO hidden behind walls with the only indication that they're breakable is a tiny mushroom in front of it. (definitely should've talked about the boss fights more, even when you only fought the first 2 bosses, as they're really well designed. Thief King is your introduction to the challenging aspect of the game and he does it really well, so well in fact, a few updates ago he got a major nerf to his moveset because he kept on gripping freshies)
Outside of allat, the game is really fun personally, build making can be a headache but just as rewarding when you make one that can shred bosses in less than a minute. The combat is weird and requires a lot of warming up to for it to feel natural and rewarding, as most enemies later on would force you to learn their pattern if you want to kill them efficiently, instead of punishing you for trying. The exploration aspect definitely requires some work, (most things related to secret bosses are impossible to find without using outside sources).

I think a lot of your issues come from not doing what the game was telling you to do. You had issues with the ice guys because they were meant to be like two-shot by the time you get there, the game tells you to go to the desert after the start which leads you to the volcano and stuff. I do think the game shoulda been like “hey, this will be hard” or smth and the problems are real, but the combat imo is really fun when your doing what your supposed to at that level.

    • @Yeetmaster28
      @Yeetmaster28 3 месяца назад +17

Also note: autoparry shouldn’t be in the game, I get it helps with gank, but when you parry you don’t have a block buffer and can immediately parry again and a lot of bosses rely on the idea of parrying back to back.

    • @dominicballinger6536
      @dominicballinger6536 3 месяца назад +4

Thats fair, many games do things like that, such as Fallout New Vegas. But at the same time they dont make what your supposed to be leveled for that remarkably easy! Unless its Castlevania 2. Also, in Deepwoken the autoparry frames dont let you counter most multi-hit moves from singular enemies, but rather just some really ridiculously quick multi-hit burst type moves. Like, the Thresher's tripple bite doesnt get autoparried and neither does a Golem's helicopter attack. Its not as generous as you likely thought.

The funny thing is that the game does tell you the mountain is hard. There’s literally an npc at the base of the mountain who tells you how challenging it is

    • @Yeetmaster28
      @Yeetmaster28 3 месяца назад +2

@@dominicballinger6536 The mountains still aren’t easy, but the main vibe of most those enemies is a glass cannon, so you quickly kill them or they hit you with high damage moves. And I feel that the ability to back to back parry is honestly better than just auto parrying a swarm. The game is meant to be a souls-like Roblox game after all, which is also why you have such quick firing moves like the ice spikes, they are part of a combo, not just a move used alone, plus they have a loud ice sound. So in reality it’s not 9 frames, it’s a whole combo you have time to react with. Though yea, I probably did assume it to be too generous on the Autoparry, I just feel like the system they have in place is good.

    • @dominicballinger6536
      @dominicballinger6536 3 месяца назад

@yeetmaster2884 I haven't played it personally, but from what I saw on Eclipse's video the startup is still way too short to be able to react to that very well. And it doesn't seem to be put into a combo very well, maybe I just need to see it fight more but it looks pretty arbitrary when it actually throws out the move. Though if you're meant to be able to kill it in two hits due to being a glass cannon anyways, why would you bother learning the patterns? I've played a bit of Elden Ring and even the most basic fodder wasn't nearly that squishy when you're at the appropriate level. A glass cannon sounds like something the devs should avoid to keep the difficulty up, or if they do add it to make the ai very unique and difficult to hit in the first place to encourage learning the patterns as opposed to punching a few times and instantly turning you into another Vlad the Impaler victim

    PILGRAMMED MENTIONED!?!?!??!?!

  • @Bushables
    @Bushables 3 месяца назад +19

this video is probably gonna do really well because of Pilgrammed defenders like myself commenting.
Pilgrammed PVP isn’t something the devs want to focus on, if you were to compare it to deepwoken it’d be best to compare the PVE.
I personally never found issues with the combat in Pilgrammed.
Parries in Pilgrammed are pretty unrewarding, when you parry someone you stun them for a pretty short period of time, and you don't take damage, with most enemies parrying gives a brief window to land an attack.
With groups of NPCs, you either stat-check them, you hit, run, repeat.
To parry a barrage-ish move in pilgrammed you have to spam F, there are almost no AP frames,
the mechanics around parrying multiple attacks are very different than they are in Deepwoken.
In Deepwoken, it depends on the attack, with the sharko coral you can just hold F, with the golem spin you have to spam F to parry.
In pilgrammed you’d almost always spam F.
I just think it’s a different combat system than the one in deepwoken.
I feel like Deepwoken doesn't do multiple humanoid combat well either,
in Deepwoken sometimes its like the enemies just orbit you, fighting you one after another,
it's like Deepwokens NPCs are more considerate than the NPCs Pilgrammed.
7:55 he starts to talk about enemy sound design,
with bosses like N, Snow Cultist, and Shock Marauder, there are audios that indicate the player should dodge, you can react to ALMOST everything. Exceptions for a few mobs.. ice king and ice assassins are actually awful, I can’t defend those.
I didn’t spend much time in the mountain area because of them, the ice spikes are bs.
the fog can be pretty annoying, especially in the sinister, and norther sea.
some people I've spoken to say caves are too dark, although I'm pretty sure you can adjust that in settings,
(I wouldn't actually know, I don't have any issues with it but I usually play in a pretty dark room.)
Pilgrammed is a bit of a wiki game, most of the interesting/challenging content can’t be played in the first 15 minutes.
I don't know if Eclipse actually gave Pilgrammed much of a chance, for me, I enjoyed exploring and killing bosses in Pilgrammed that have more health and do more damage than I do.
We don't see him fight any arguably challenging bosses in the end.
I feel like he’s only seen about 20% of what pilgrammed has to offer, you can’t complete the game in 1-2 hours.
I think eclipse was a little harsh on pilgrammed.
This comment is probably too boring to end up in a ddos video so I think I’m safe.

Hey Eclipse, I don’t know if you’re ever going to see this comment. Around a month ago the Pilgrammed developers changed the raider and frost assassin enemy types. They gave the raider a way to heal if not attacked for a certain period of time and maybe other things but idk fr sure. For the frost assassin they added a red glare effect to signify an incoming heavy attack and added a noise so you know when to feint. I’m glad to see that your video made an impact on the game for the better and I think some of your suggestions have planted the seed for more updates teased in the Pilgrammed rain update coming soon. (pvp reworks in the future, adding new technique system, enemy stuns after combos, etc). Keep up the good work. 👍

theres literally a reason why going to the mountain is so hard early on, its to deter people from going up it early on, thats why the easier areas are directly connected to the previous area, this is really smart because as you progress you have better ways of travel, like different accessories, mounts, and better ships i genuinely dont know how you got up the mountain so early since you have to go through the forest then scale up the side for a while with quite an obvious difficulty spike. Also additionally (kinda on pilgrammeds fault) but about the parrying thing where you go in for 1 hit and run, thats kind of a heavy weapon problem and the game actually has ways to combat that but then again it it kind of pilgrammeds fault as it is the first sword it shoves in your face through clear progression besides the old sword.

Your performance at 5:47 was a... spectacle, to say the least. You were there way underprepared, but even then, most Pilgrammed players with at least four hours of experience would have taken that situation on like it was nothing. Ganking is only an issue if you don't know how to approach it. I never struggled with ganking, and it surprises me that people do struggle with it anyway. You can parry as many enemies as you'd like in one fight, all you have to do is just get better at scanning the situation and acting accordingly.
Further, you ended *extremely* early on. One would be lying if they said this is a generally reliable review of the game in its entirety, since you ended your playthrough where Pilgrammed is at its worst. If you're not going to push through the bad parts, why make a review in the first place? Three and a half hours isn't nearly enough time to make a fair judgement, let alone enough time to actually get good. Players can spend upwards of twenty hours on a casual playthrough, and lots often play for upwards of 50. The point at which you ended it is like getting eight to nine hours into Hollow Knight and judging the whole game (which, considering optional content, can take upwards of 80 hours) based on that.
Games don't necessarily need to fill in a 'niche' just to be fun to play. If a game's fun, it's fun. That's that. Just because another game does it better doesn't make Pilgrammed not worth playing. Take Street Fighter and Guilty Gear, for instance. Both are arcade fighter type games. Would you say Guilty Gear (let alone any other game in the same genre) isn't worth playing just because Street Fighter is more refined? Unless you were just biased for no reason in particular, no, you wouldn't.
Pilgrammed is entirely worth your time if you'd just put the minimal effort forth that it takes to progress.

The meat of this game is build variety, its the perfect balance between letting you do absolutely stacked builds but not breaking the game's balance in half since the bossfights can get just as crazy as your own toolkit. When you went to the mountain for example, by that time you could already have found a handful of dashing skills that double as mobility. And at the endgame, you can have a double to triple jump alongside a glider and a shitton of different ways of procking movement speed boosts. People have made videos where they traverse most of the map in only a few minutes.

Well the sounds with the attacks are needed, some parry mechanic or something that helps with the fighting multiple enemies at once could be there. Bosses are enjoyable, the ice assasin guy does have a 'very encouraged to hit and run strat' ice spike move, and he should be fought at a higher level so you can two-shot him or something as I heard from the comments.
But this is because the early game is quite experimental, and they probably left it that way and went to make the later parts better. Probably should address the foggy landscape as well, well that's not a problem to many players it seemed
Pilgrammed is definitely a boss fighting game, as enjoyed by that part of the game according to people who still loves the game despite the flaws and.. some random niches I guess,

IMO Pilgrammed is closer to something like Terraria. It has the same boss to boss progression, and the same class building, through using accessories and armor, the only difference being obviously the skill tree.
I believe if I remember correctly, there is about 4-ish classes?
    Those being:
    -Ranger
    -Mage
    -Melee
-Brawler ( I don't know what else to call the fist playstyle. )
Much like terraria, you are left in the dark for most of the time, and it is up to you to find out how to become stronger.
Also I'd like to agree with Eclipse, the combat is VERY much 1 on 1 oriented. It is the game's main issue, (as he brings it up), but I think it does work for bosses, which I think Eclipse did not experience has not experienced enough of. Since I do believe the bosses may be the strongest, ( and main ), point of the game.
My main issue with said bosses is the fact that some of them are extremely difficult if you do not have some sort of sustain, or if you don't throw yourself at it for 4 hours until you learn it's moveset.
    Anyway in summary,
Pilgrammed is more like Terraria in it's class building.
The only similarity Pilgrammed has with Deepwoken is the parry-based combat.
The bosses are the best part.

As a pillgramed player who has played since 2023 this review is mid.
Look pillgramed is supposed to be a non serious goofy game it’s not trying to be deepwoken and for early game just grind at the desert area and those snow cultists are mid game enemies since pillgramed lets your traverse the map without restrictions but don’t into areas that have strong enemies until you have the proper gear to go there and also, the reason why you keep saying you hit the enemy and dodge is because you use a greatsword and greatswords have slow swing speed I feel like auto parry should not exist because the combat is supposed to be basic. And also use the mirrors that are in the villages they offer quick access to said location you’re going so that you don’t have to travel over there again when you die.
Pillgramed is a fun game and it’s a passion project bosses are cool and I agree with most of the positive things you said.
Ps if you see a beam of light go over there there are enemies that have a chance to drop gems and you can forge them into your weapon to give it status effects like fire, ice, explosions, and lifesteal the list goes on but I don’t want to name the all.

    - build making, yes, i love making builds in this game
    - the combat, that's 1 thing i don't agree Eclipse but i understand completly why he thinks like that, altough you can hit and run (Sorry if i misunderstud) you can also dodge to the sides of the enemy's attack, there's no real need to run unless you want to regen life or you play like that, you can always parry, at least 90% of the attacks on Pilgrammed are parryable, if not, you can dodge it, therefore (in theory) you can stick up to the enemys, dodging and parrying without the need to run, i won't talk about the Frost Assasins part since that's 100% right god i hate those enemys please deleted them from the game (it ruins my dear bowl). I understand, not all players can just "parry and dodge" all the time, so they attempt to run whenever they don't feel the confidence to fight the enemys, that's what i would say for that part, correct me if you'll think i'm wrong
    - last point: I just love fighting bosses in this game, so i make new builds to fight them again or just came up with a challenge
Love your content Eclipse, hope you do well!

I completed pilgrammed about a year ago, and to this day I believe that it is THE BEST PVE game in Roblox. The ability to make so many different and unique builds makes the game very special.
However fighting npc early on is cancer because of the bad parry system, but fighting bosses later on is really fun bc it actually takes the skill ,however the problem is getting there. So more you progress the game gets better LIKE WAY better but that's a flaw on its own, having to get to mid-late game to enjoy it more is not fun.

I've watched the video now, and pilgrammed is HEAVILY based on bosses. there are dozens of bosses that you have to find via exploration such as granny, old fart, pro thief, sailord, and many more.

The thing is its fun, although the combat system is a problem, it can always be changed in the future, not to mention it's the biggest and smallest problem at the same time, even if deepwoken is a "superior game" it doesn't mean pilgrammed is bad, as long as things get better in the updates and changes are made then it may someday be just as good. The game is very simple yet has a lot of things for you to look at, and it's unique, it's fun!
Also can you play item asylum?

    Pilgrammed my beloved
Edit: As someone who's beaten the majority of the bosses in the game, your points are completely valid. The combat is, for the most part, pretty simplistic, and at certain points you're more of predicting than an enemy will do something rather than reacting to them actually doing it, which can be a bit annoying. As someone who sucks at games, I literally just went for a "tank all damage" build (which I made myself, the build making of the game being a highlight for me), which solved the issue of parrying for the most part, but still doesn't remedy the combat for the most part.
So yeah, a flawed game, but it has charm to it. I always like playing passion projects like this.

Hello Eclipse, I would like you to review Attack On Titan: Freedom War, its a PvPvE, permadeath, Story mode type game where the only thing to grind is your Skills (Hand Cut, Blade Throw) and Upgrades (Hook Range, Gas Efficiency, etc.). It has a Tutorial that teaches you on how to manuever the ODM gear and how to orbit or kill a titan properly. After you finish the tutorial there is a tab or a UI that you can access anytime while playing that teaches you the controls and gives you tips on what to do in a PVP (Human vs Human, Human vs Shifter, Shifter vs Shifter) situation. its got under 500 players right now so it would be great for it to get some attention and maybe give the developer some motivation to update the game.

Pilgrammed is weird, the description says rpg but it’s a little more like a looter when you consider it’s end goal which is kinda just kill all the bosses with your new marginally better weapon, his game does not exactly take itself seriously and in my opinion should not be taken seriously considering sniper from TF2 is in the desert dancing for some reason and the final boss being a mushroom that yells. The game’s combat is definitely a problem as well as the fog as you said especially in a certain part of the map called the sinister sea you would hate sailing there but I think there is one problem you missed or were fine with which is the rally skill, the game almost requires you to have it because it applies to everything and you’d shoot yourself in the foot if you don’t have it, might just be me but I hate having to always need a specific skill for a game to not obliterate me near the final set of bosses.

Its come to my attention that you have not played rogue lineage.
Im sure you know what the game is, and the awful reputation it has amassed due to its toxic fan base, however I believe there is more creativity and more potential in that game than deepwoken, despite being made by the same devs.
Ngl its literally what you hate - as a wiki DEFINED game, you literally cannot even progress to ultra without knowing how - unless you explore the world - in which secrets are hidden very meticulously so it would take hours upon hours and lives upon lives to legitimately obtain an ultra class without help from the wiki (also being in the discord is very helpful for getting trades). Honestly me personally, the wiki is kind of what made me like the game, although you describe it as bad game design - the rogue lineage wiki is well structured and displays the game's complexity (not in a confusing way but depth of interactions) - like enemy weaknesses.
The mana system is amazing, the combat system is very intriguing and i think its better than deepwoken in this aspect. Where deepwoken is essentially turnbased, where you land a parry to make it your "turn" and attack with the hopes that your opponent makes a mistake, rogue lineage combat is more like a rock paper scissors of moves and their appropriate reactions.
Not to mention the community and progression is awful. 90% of players you encounter will kill you on sight and say ez, in addition to this, it is nearly impossible to progress to most ultra classes without a use of an alt account if you are a new player as it requires kills or "arrests" of others as a requirement. There are ways to progress without having to do this, but it is long and really not worth it on a permadeath game. However, to get to a super class, the game is nowhere near as hard.
To have adequate knowledge to judge this game I feel a new player would need to do the following:
    - Get a super class
    - Buy tomeless service from someone in the discord (not even gonna ask you to do it legit) OR be a mage super class
    - Explore the tundra (bring a torch or have ignis)
    - Kill a player
If you choose to play this game, all I'm saying is - good luck. It has a bad design, but it was made with love. I hope you come to see that like I have.

  • @Saakija
    @Saakija 3 месяца назад +1

Pilgrammed is mid, and thats coming from someone who played the game. Sure the armor system was fun, but the only thing that'll keep to motivated is the big numbers you see when you do an attack. Whats worse is ENDGAME, just basically fight the bosses but to reach some of them like Old Fart or Cata its a whole challenge itself. Some of these bosses are RESILIENT to your builds so that you have to obtain another build to beat that boss and this butterfly effect and go all the way back, going back on endgame there isn't a whole lot to do and thats why the game died, its really a temporary fun.

    • @Turn_to_Jesus
      @Turn_to_Jesus 3 месяца назад

This will be long and none of these are in chronological order.
But Your massively incorrect on “going back to endgame, there’s not a whole lot to do” end game is the main focus I believe so to say there isn’t much is an overstatement. A decent chunk of the bosses in pilgrammed are endgame if not mid end game.
You’ll discover more items that you’ll usually use and have fun with with end game along with exploring the areas.
You also said “the only thing that keeps you motivated is the big numbers” but if that’s your only motivation that’s sad. The motivation you were supposed to have is finding new areas-getting new weapons and items, leveling up for skills, and much more.
Maybe I’m misinterpreting it somehow. But another point you’ve stated is that some bosses are just resilient to your builds. And I’m not sure what exactly you mean by that but I’m pretty sure you can use melee on literally every boss without a problem. Same with range builds.
There’s no bosses that you can’t fight with a certain build because there resilient to it. They might be harder but you can still use the build regardless.
And then the final point is when you stated that some bosses like old fart or cata is a challenge in it of its self to find And I agree that getting to those bosses is flawed, who in there right mind will find 3 mushrooms across the map without looking it up.
Let alone the necklace you have to find from mountains to get to the eye of storm. With Cata and grave tree lad, it is a challenge to get to them and unlock them and even very annoying at times. But those 2 bosses in my opinion are worth it.
Cata drops 2 weapons and there both pretty good and fun to use. Fighting that boss is hard as he is an end game boss so you will have your struggles. And with grave tree lad in my opinion he’s one of the lesser fun bosses to fight (not as bad as some others but still) but luckily he drops one of the most unique weapons in the game-grave tree. It has 2 different heavy attacks and it spews poison after you do the first heavy in the m1s.

    • @Saakija
      @Saakija 3 месяца назад

Idk where tf my previous counter argument went so I'll be forced to dumb it down,
On the topic of motivation, sure leveling up and exploring is fun, but in the grand scheme of things its really only to make a better build that does more damage to beat the content in the game.
Going back to the resilient part of my argument, I just meant that some of the bosses are more resistant to some of the damage you do for example ice builds against the Magma turtle, or gun builds against Cata or Granny. They're possible but usually only if you have minmaxed it or are extremely skilled.
Now onto endgame, my longest argument, first with the bosses. Endgame bosses make up around 30% of all bosses in the game, with Cata, Old Fart (Really only a skill check, Snow Cultist, Patris (Can be completed at midgame) Sailord (Skill check) False Believer, Highway Son (used to be on the midgame list) and Prism Troll.
With 50% being mid game and 20% being early game,
Once you reach endgame theres only 2 choices, drop the game or minmax your flex builds. You could also play with friends which is the main motivation of many players such as me.
Sky battlegrounds and Big Iron were meant to be Endgame content with its requirements, but even then it could be completed at midgame with enough effort and with friends.
This game is best fun with friends, so play with friends.

Who the hell compares this to Deepwoken? Is it the parry system? They're very different games wtf
In terms of combat problems, I'm sorry to say but it's genuinely a skill issue (I know this because I had similar criticism when fighting the thief king saying the parry system is not tight and clunky but after toughing it out, it's one of my favourite roblox games). HOWEVER I've never played Deepwoken (I'm broke) so your criticism could be valid cuz I've never experienced the auto parry and all those little systems in Deepwoken. I say COULD be valid but then you complain about the Ice Assassin when I can see that you're using a BRONZE GREATSWORD??? Out of all the enemies to complain about, THE ICE ASSASIN?!?!!?
Why are you in the mountains with such a weak weapon? Is it for the challenge? Then why complain about the Ice Assasin? Did you skip the inn clerk and the advice he gives? He tells you directly where to go after, from beating the thief king to going to the desert across the bridge. And while you're travelling to the desert you'll find the knight on the stone tower and multiple paths that lead to different areas such as the swamp and sea. The inn clerk is awesome at funnelling new players to the next area and continue progression so the player never feels stuck (although this stops after a certain point and you can essentially anywhere you want to go and you'll be fine because at that point you're strong and skilled enough to go anywhere). I know you rightfully complain about the lack of a tutorial in a roblox game but this is not one of them, did you miss inn dude? What about the mirrors for fast travel? The movement system? Beds for spawn point? The shops selling weapons, armour and their respective passives which change up what weapons you use for synergy? The music? The secrets? The bank?
The way all the areas are connected is brilliantly created I'm extremely disappointed that you didn't talk about that, it feels like you didn't interact with the systems that the game has given you, this game is a very good balance of telling you where to go but not holding your hand, you can choose to follow the quests or go out and do your own thing but the game won't coddle you in combat or if you encounter a super strong enemy, this is the literal definition of get gud.
Speaking of strong enemies, the fact that you didn't talk about the bosses tells me you didn't play this game enough which I hate to say because I'm in the camp that 2-3 hours of gameplay is usually enough to say whether or not you like a game or not. BUT the fact that you didn't talk about bosses in this video is extremely poor, I don't know what exactly happened but this has been one of your worst videos yet, it feels like you left out a ton of important things.
I will say that the fog is extremely intrusive, they 100% need to get rid of that, it makes travelling on the sea an absolute nightmare.
I don't want to force you to play more and I've never played Deepwoken so it genuinely might feel like a watered down version in every possible way. However, I still do believe that this is the best roblox RPG out there (besides Deepwoken from your perspective), combat is good, the build variety is absolutely insane, the maps are awesome to explore, the way they're connected feels like Dark Souls and the bosses are awesome as well (some of them are insanely hard). It's a shame that you feel this way but it's a bigger shame that this video doesn't showcase how Pilgrammed really is.

To be fair, the one thing that makes me want to play pilgrammed and not deepwoken is the casuality, deepwoken gives no room to it, you hop into a server, you have to always be careful not to get jumped by a voidwalker, ganked by a guild or attacked by npcs, pilgrammed gives so much more room to explore and trial and error, wich makes you able to play without a wiki and also learn the bosses and enemies movesets by yourself. Another thing is that you can always explore different builds with different equipments and weapons without having to do the same thing for every single build, you can just go and grind for the item you need by killing a boss or completing a quest.

from what I can tell Pilgrammed is just a shitty souls game. Deepwoken has elements from souls games and other games but also has very poorly made systems that are very anti-new player like.
I dont even think voidwalker is anti-new player actually, I think it’s anti-player in general, I can fight back reasonably on-par with voidwalkers but they are just sooo annoying…

The reason for the Ice Assassin taking so many hits is because you're in the Mountains at level four. The game is free roam and does allow you to make your own choices regarding progression, but it heavily encourages going to the Desert, which then leads you to the Volcano after a little bit of dialogue, and this is when you get a MASSIVE power spike. (Also, bad design on the developer's part, but the early Greatswords SUCK for fighting enemies. That's part of the reason you're doing the "Run away, get one hit, run away, get one hit" thing.) I love this game and hope that you'll play it in your free time, as the game gets more and more fun as you progress.

pilgrammed's mains charm is the boss fights ngl.
regular mob combat is pretty..meh, but the bossfights are pretty fun
thief king and viperfang may feel like a stat check because they are quite literally the first 2 bosses you would ever fight and thus are pretty weak, but when you get to more mid-late game bosses like the skeleton, false believer, snow assasin, highway son, N, etc, you will slowly learn the moves through out fails, and going from getting shredded by the boss to parrying almost all of the boss' attack is insanely satisfying
but honestly, I don't know why they made thief king, which is supposedly the first boss you would ever encounter, have like the hardest moves to parry/dodge...viper fang is not that hard but the insanely small arena also makes it rlly weird to fight, to a point that most people would just stat check them

Honestly I'd have to say respect to you, but nearly every critique you had on Pilgrammed could be subjective. Though, I understand that there were some genuine issues, mostly asserting to combat, which I can completely understand. But personally playing Pilgrammed I've never had an issue with the combat. It seems like to me that Pilgrammed is a "hard" game, but not a game to be looked at in quite a serious sense. I feel like you oversimplified the "Attack, dodge", sure it can seem stupid when it's used against just a regular 'ol mob, but when against bosses like The Archmage it could be looked at differently, and I actually really like this aspect of the game. Possibly the best things about Pilgrammed is the "vibe" and the exploration. I don't think I'd call it a "wiki game" at all, most of the game you can get through without having to watch a video or something. Not a lot of things are directly hinted at but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's a wiki game, there's a sense of exploration to it and it's definitely something any new player can get through. I guess I'd have to say the goal of Pilgrammed is to just explore the world, if you go out searching you'd find a lot of things that'll peak your interest. But of course not all things can come that easy and eventually there will be a sense of mystery, and that is when you may need to turn to a "wiki", but to just outright call it a Wiki game doesn't really sit right with me. I guess at the end of the day it's just about your tastes as a player, and what it seems like to me is that you may like games like Deepwoken, which isn't much like Pilgrammed at all when you really get to know the difference between the two. In my opinion, playing through Pilgrammed it felt much more like Breath of The Wild to me. And if I'd have to say any criticisms about Pilgrammed that actually mattered that would be the lack of replayability for players who've already 100%'d the game, and the start of the game can feel lackluster.

I feel like his opinion on the combat wasn’t developed enough through what he played through (though as he said, the game didn’t give much reason to get him to go that far unfortunately 😭)
Like there is a night and day difference between mob combat and boss combat, and since bosses are the focal point of Pilgrammed as a whole, I feel like he would’ve seen things differently had he gone and fought said bosses.
As for your stuff on this being a “wiki” game, I feel like his claim has merit. Yes, exploration can get you through most of the game on your own, but you CANNOT tell me that stuff like Old Fart and The Winter can be done blind. I liked that the game became open-ended past tho e Desert/Volcano, but I feel like it was a bit TOO open-ended, if that makes sense.

Pilgrammed overall is just a good game, my honest rating on pilgrammed is an 8/10.
The game overall has good, simple and easy to follow mechanics that you can get used to quickly.
Pigrammed has a wide variety of accessories, weapons, mechanics and areas that you can never really get bored of.
There isn't much of a story in pilgrammed but I feel like that adds to the charm that pilgrammed has to offer.
But pilgrammed low key lacks proper progression and and the fighting mechanics aren't really bad but not the best.
As for what's BAD about the game is the lack of updates but honestly that's fine since the dev team is just two people currently.
What's also bad within the game is that sometimes when you use some of the game mechanics it will sometimes just randomly not register.
The game is overall a good game so that's why I love it, it's simple yet complex enough to love, there are problems within the game but I really love it, it's a simple master piece at least to me, I disagree with some of your points like the "wasteland part" and the part about some npcs, overall I can see myself agreeing with some of your points like the fighting mechanics, it's lacking yes but the fighting mechanics shouldn't be too complicated.
so i somewhat agree with you and i liked the video and subscribed 👍

600 hours on pilgrammed here, I believe the world pilgrammed had to offer is amazing, it has much more than you think with sky islands, deep caves, under ground towns, and even a huge catacomb to explore (and its shockingly not a walking simulator there) I understand you want hand holding in these types of games but I think its super fresh to explore new areas without constant hand holding and find new equipment to use and create builds with, Pilgrammed is a game with tons of bosses, nearly has many bosses there is base mobs. The bosses definitely carry the experience when first playing, learning they're attack patterns and using their drops is a overall nice feeling. Now parrying/combat, I dont disagree with you at all but imo I enjoy how smooth parrying is when you come to learn it fully, although I haven't fought base mobs legit in awhile (since you can mostly ignore/one tap them) I think when you fight the other bosses that come across it becomes better. Now I know I typed a lot and probably wont go back and read it all so if I made any grammar mistakes or stupid phrases, my apologies, any way thank you for sharing your opinion about pilgrammed, I liked to see others view on this game other then mine so thank you for that. (and also supporting the game kind of?)

    • @pantommy
      @pantommy 3 месяца назад +1

The fuck does "hand holding" have to do with any of this? Not having a 100x100 stud open field is hand holding? Areas like the forest and savannah are way too large for what they have to offer, they feel empty. No one's asking for arrows pointing in the direction you should be going, but areas should have a certain flow to them that's just not really present (especially with the dumbass fog in some areas making "exploration" just blindly walking around).
The reason people don't care is because of the mirror system, you've been accustomed to that so you're going to ignore the flaws.
And about the bosses, it'd be great if they were actually integrated more into the core game progression, shit like Granny is nigh impossible to find without looking it up (literally find a random crevice and fall down). Prism troll is also an example of an obscure quest with little to actually point you in the direction of solving it, like who would even think you need to pickaxe a certain rock with a gemstone pick? Literally everyone finds out about that from the internet or from other people, seldom do people actually find stuff on their own.

    • @BadPredictions
      @BadPredictions 3 месяца назад +13

When I say constant hand holding I mean the game doesn’t guide you throughout like 90% game, it leaves you at volcano to continue exploring, also I understand bosses like granny are nearly impossible to find but I wouldn’t say granny is a boss required to kill. I get your point was some things are nearly impossible to find which I can’t argue with but most of the bosses don’t require research to find, although old fart is very difficult to find legit, it’s considered the final boss which I feel like is understandable.

It's unfortunate that Pilgrammed's early game is more casual than it should be, with difficulty only increasing mid-game, with bosses getting more difficult and harder to cheese, forcing players to relearn fundamental mechanics like parrying and dodging. I do agree that the game should have better indicators, and autoparry frames as well.
But still, your points on Pilgrammed's flaws are pretty solid, *especially* attack startups and parrying not being necessary to learn for the majority of the early game. Considering that the game is nowhere near finished, I believe the developers will continue polishing most of Pilgrammed's flaws over time, which mainly consists of early-game content.

You should try Dummies Vs Noobs. Its a round-based game (unlike deep) where you and a bunch of teammates try to survive rounds of enemies (the noobs). The game includes multiple different classes that are easy to navigate and will help you learn their abilities quickly (without the use of a Wiki type source). There are also different types of game modes you can try that are similar to a campaign mission, a cod zombies, a "tower defense," and a game mode where one player is chosen to be the "mastermind" in which they choose what enemies will be spawned in the rounds; in this gamemode, when the final round is reached the mastermind will become playable by the character and act as the final boss of the gamemode, FUN!
Id also suggest you try Fantastic Frontier. Its an oldie but a goodie, revolving around this fantasy-type world with a lot to do and explore. (ion got much to say for fantastic frontier, i like it a lot but it has a lot of the flaws pilgrammed had, such as being hard for early players. the game also doesnt have a dodge and parry system, but still works its magic, trust.

It's always intriguing to see the diverse range of perspectives and opinions that surface in online discussions, and your input is no exception. In today's digital age, where countless voices merge into a collective conversation, every comment adds a unique layer to the ongoing discourse.
Your comment, in particular, stands out in a rather distinct way. It's evident that you have invested a considerable amount of effort in formulating your thoughts and expressing them with such conviction. Engaging with content online requires a certain degree of courage and openness, and for that, your participation is noteworthy.
However, the essence of a productive conversation lies in the quality of the contributions. Constructive feedback, well-articulated arguments, and respectful dialogue are the cornerstones of meaningful exchanges. @@Cryptic_Diver
      Dear Cryptic Jace,
I hope this message finds you well. Today, I felt compelled to address a recent comment left by @rugersonn, which stated, "Ur a silent heart user (doxxed)." The intriguing nature of this comment warrants a deeper reflection on its implications and the context in which it was made.
Firstly, the phrase "silent heart user" is quite enigmatic. It conjures images of someone who operates quietly, perhaps under the radar, yet with significant impact or intent. The "silent heart" metaphor suggests a sense of stealth and introspection, where actions are driven by inner motivations rather than outward expressions. In the digital age, where visibility and vocal presence often dominate, the idea of a "silent heart user" introduces an interesting dichotomy-one of quiet influence and subtle presence.
The term "doxxed" introduces a layer of complexity and concern. Doxxing, the act of publicly revealing private information about an individual, is a serious breach of privacy and can have profound consequences. It suggests that @rugersonn is accusing or warning you about the exposure of personal information, which is a critical issue in our increasingly interconnected and sometimes intrusive online world.
In addressing this comment, it's essential to consider the broader implications of online behavior and the responsibilities that come with digital interactions. The internet is a vast space where anonymity can be both a shield and a weapon. The balance between expressing one's thoughts and respecting others' privacy is delicate and crucial.
The comment from @rugersonn, whether intended as a warning, a criticism, or something else entirely, highlights the need for caution and mindfulness in our digital engagements. It serves as a reminder of the potential repercussions of our online actions and the importance of protecting personal information.
In conclusion, while the comment "Ur a silent heart user (doxxed)" might initially seem cryptic, it offers an opportunity for reflection on the nature of online identity and the significance of privacy. As we navigate this complex digital landscape, let us strive to foster a community built on respect, understanding, and thoughtful communication.

In my opinion the “hit and run” combat is a skill issue on eclipse’s part as the game isn’t really designed to be played like that and doesn’t work in the late game. In my opinion, the issues with the combat are from his inexperience with the game. Btw the way you fought that assassin made me scream with misery.
Essentially, the combat isn’t bad, you’re bad
Edit: sorry if this sounded unreasonably aggressive.

I think your main issue with the game is that you went about things in the "wrong" order. Well, "wrong" isn't the right way to phrase it, as I don't really thing there is a "wrong" way to progress, there's just different ways of going about it. Pilgrammed is a pretty open game, and it has no qualms about letting you wander into areas way above your level, such as the tundra. By brute forcing the Rockwondo quest you were rewarded with a "weapon" way stronger than anything you'd have found if you followed the path the game expected you to travel. Pilgrammed will naturally lead you towards the desert if you follow the quests you receive in the starting town iirc, though rather than trying to shift your attention to these quests the game lets you find them on your own. However, some players lean more towards exploration and following their own path, which can lead them to harder areas and throw the progression all out of whack for certain portions of the game.
Pilgrammed doesn't expect you to stat-check all it's enemies, at least not the first time through an area. It's only once you've cleared an area and gotten better loot that the enemies you fought previously become stat-checkable, which I believe is fair since it allows you to get any drops you might've missed much more easily. With the way the game's gear system works, though, you can get gear way above your level by, again, brute forcing things.
I do believe that this open endedness is a major part of the game's charm and what makes it fun, but it can definitely lead to a poor first impression like I think it did for you. That's not to say the game is perfect, it absolutely has some issues and I think you spoke on a lot of them here, but at the end of the day I don't believe they bring down the game all that much, at least for me. The combat, while a little clunky, is satisfying enough once you get into it. A good amount of the boss fights are genuinely difficult and can only be overcome with skill, many with anti-cheese measures in place. The emphasis on player freedom is so liberating compared to most roblox games, and I believe the open world and overall progression loop is conceptually better than a lot of open world AAA titles, though definitely nowhere near the same level of quality.
Overall I'd say Pilgrammed is one of the best RPGs on the platform. It's definitely rough around the edges and has a myriad of problems, but the foundations the game has set for itself are fantastic. I just hope that in the coming updates the developers give a little more love to the early game, and maybe a little more direction for new players.

this is the same as playing Terraria, killing Slime King and Eye of Chuthulhu, then making a "review" of the entire game. you should be ashamed of yourself of even pretending this is a review, Mr. "3 hour playtime is enough to review a game". If you wanna review games, atleast do it right, your reviews are worse than a IGN journalist review

@@StarryArrii It's not the optimal way to play, but the decisions he made, forced him to play like that since he doesn't have nearly enough mastery of combat to be able to fight against very high level npcs.(Hence why running and using a move over and over was the 'viable strat'. It isn't the only strategy you can use, but it was the only strategy he could use)

So I watched the video and I agree with some of the points, you made me notice what pilgrammed lacked and it's definetively not perfect. I think pilgrammed's great because of the combat, specifically against bosses because combat against normal enemies is mediocre and not fun, I just really like the way bosses are in pilgrammed because they are actually fun to fight (at least to me), most have a pattern and you have to memorize it to have an easier time fighting it, not only that but most bosses require you to learn the timings for parrying and attacking. Another thing is that some bosses are ''secret'' and require some exploration and talking to npcs and whatnot to actually access them, which gives pilgrammed a lot of content. The reason most players stop at where you stopped is because of the lack of a direction, making new players miss out on a lot. I hope you enjoyed the little bit that you played and keep it up!

I wonder how fast a DDOS episode of eclipse absolutely clowning on the pilgrammed people who didn’t watch the vid before commenting. As somebody who recommended the game to him, I agree with his statements on ganking. Early game when trying to do the same rockwondo quest he tried to do, getting jumped by everybody and their grandmother got old after a while. My approach on this was to search around the map for better loot and eventually came across the volcano. If I didn’t do this and took eclipse’s approach, I probably would’ve never logged on again lol. Even though he didn’t really like it, I’m glad to see his opinion on this game.

He did it. He did it bro. I haven't finished the video but I respect whatever opinions you have.
    As I watched the video:
The ganking thing you mentioned was never an issue for me in the about a week playtime i have but it could be annoying from time to time.
The no block buffer was never an issue for me.
Even though it is an open world game as most open world games are you the frost assassin is a midgame enemy and you were VERY early game.
Alot of the better parts are the bossfights in my opinion, although the earlier ones suck.
Yes, the game is foggy, but vision goggles are a thing you can find in arguably the foggiest area which I don't know why they decided to do that, but hey its better than fantastic frontier fog.
    Things I want to add:
The guy in the shack says to go to the volcano so that's where you're intended to go after
I find the game better than deepwoken, but that's just me.
I got in day one so the experience was much different and since everyone was finding stuff out at the same time you didn't need to look anything up, which I would argue you still don't have to, but it does make things easier.
Even though i will ride this game VERY hard there is clear issues. Thank God you didn't find out 4 bosses and a good chunk of content in general was locked behind fetch quests. I think you would have grilled the game for that, as it deserves to be.
    Anothering thing to note:
Pilgrammed's third major content update *might* be coming out in july and they may fix alot of these issues, if you don't check it out yourself I will provide an update comment, regardless if you read it or not.
also as you can probably tell, my grammar is nowhere near the best. I apologize if this was hard to read if you even read it.
I'm glad you checked it out and I'd be happy to hear additional feedback.
