Working manually with an block above the salmon slot in 1.20. But you cant go afk cuz u must throw it in again. I've made myself an easy mouse macro for this. :)
you can also add an iron trapdoor over the lava to close when you aren’t using the farm so you don’t accidentally fall into the lava (definitely not speaking from personal experience)

Since I couldn’t throw my rod without letting the fish escape, opening the chest or entering to type a sign, I placed a block above the chest and threw the fishing rod at the block. Worked perfectly 👍
I built it two times. Exactly same build. One farm works perfectly and the other one is burning my loot. Teared it down and built it up again. And it burns the loot. I really dont know what is the problem...

For anyone here about the new issue of trying to fish without editing the sign, here's a solution. Standing in front of the chest, two blocks away, mine one block down, then fish with your cursor pointing above the chest and sign, enough where the hook lands under the sign. There, problem solved

Since 1.19.80 released apr. 26th the mechanism with the sign no longer works, and the reel doesnt automatically reel in once an item is caught so this farm is mostly useless now.
it’s not letting me “aim the rod at the sign” . When i try it just doesn’t cast, it only casts if i aim at the water and then that doesn’t work either. What am i doing wrong???
This works so well! I hate fishing but it’s an easy way to get quick xp. This farm has been awesome (also it works for me without the salmon, I just used another water bucket.)
Put a block of glass on the open spot next to the hopper minecart so it doesn't move. It should in theory not move anyway but mine did move and I had to fix it, use glass so you can still open the chest
On 1.20.1 and for some reason it is not working. I have to crouch to cast at the sign; is this normal? The bobber just sinks and does not move. After about a minute the hook comes back in and no catch. I checked my inventory, the top box, the bottom box. I cannot find anything and no XP coming out. Also I noticed a fine detail that the water flooding the box is completely covering the box. I am on Java edition.

Just set up mine in bedrock edition, and was having the same issue, and then I had to facepalm 🤦♂ myself because I was the one making the mistake. You need a "Minecart with Hopper" not just a minecart. I did the switch and then it worked for me, hope that helps 😀👍

This is the best one. 12 seconds on an auto key press works well. With lure III and open sky or glass above it I have the most success with 7 seconds and 300 milliseconds per keypress and I set the key in game and in the app to numpad 9
Update - I've been using this for two or three weeks. I have a couple comments. It's not an AFK fish farm on its own. I wired up a servo motor to hit the LT to fish (playing on Xbox), and connected 15 chests under the farm using hoppers, so now it's truly AFK. Also 100+ enchantments an hour is not true. I've maybe gotten 8 double chests worth of enchantments in 50 hours, so that's 8 chests x 42 per chest / 50 hours = 6.72 enchantments per hour. Which is way less. But I'm not all negative, I've gotten buku enchantments / enchantment levels, and maybe 8 total Mendings for me and my buddy. So this does work, but it takes a LOT of time if you're manually hitting the button.
Used this fishing method since 1.18 and I got SOO MUCH ENCHANTMENT BOOKS AND FISHES, estimating 20 or 50 I think. Good video and indeed an efficient farm

@@claireiscool1 They patched it. Kinda. You can't get treasure items from a 1x1x1 water block, only fish and junk. You need at least a 5x5x5 water source to get treasure, and for better treasure, an 8x8x8 water source.

Update: If you play on 1.20 or above you need to aim the crosshair slightly above the chest before casting the rod.

it happened to me once in my old world thankfully i had netherite armor with enchantments so luckily i was quick and survived

For anyone confused, you gotta use the auto clicker at 10 secs
Just hold the button with a toothpick or coin
put it at 8 seconds 30 milliseconds if you have a maxed out fishing rod

I built it two times. Exactly same build. One farm works perfectly and the other one is burning my loot. Teared it down and built it up again. And it burns the loot. I really dont know what is the problem...

U can afk in this farm if u have bought minecraft to ur phone and then use autoclicker in 10sec
If youre in console, you can intall a digital controller and an autoclick

For some reason when I aim at the sign it tells me to edit it, so I can’t use the rod

Might be a little late, but make sure the hopper is the block under the lava because the sign is on the same block as the hopper

For treasure you do need 5x5 (fish in center) and deep water (more than 2 deep). I think you need air above as well.
