- Almost 500 days after he was detained in Russia, Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich is heading home.

With him are former US marine Paul Whelan and Kremlin critic Vladimir Kara-Murza, part of the biggest prisoner exchange since the Cold War.
Sixteen people detained in Russia and Belarus are being released, in exchange for eight held in the US and several European countries. One of them is a convicted Russian murderer.

The title "US and Russia..." is misleading if other western countries were involved in the negotiations. "Russia and western countries...." would be more fitting.

He was imprisoned in Russia, exchanged in 2010, went to live in the UK where he survived a novichok attack in 2018
@@anatoliikolesov9537 yes, I know that...but nothing was heard of him apart from a broadcast made by his daughter..who said they were 'fine'..then nothing until now. I don;t get why he was imprisoned and by whom? he had been living openly before the ''attack''.
Sergei Skripal is mentioned in reference to the time he was exchanged in 2010 after which he was poisoned in 2018. They are saying that THAT exchange (in 2010) was the largest exchange of prisoners made until this one. Sergei Skripal has NOT been exchanged again.
He is supposedly living in New Zealand under a new identity at the moment.

Vague description of four out of 12 and only one out of 8 is not the best way of setting the scene. As for the two guests, they are both very biased - too many speculations, many statements they've made should have been challenged and they don't seem to have much awareness of what is actually happening in Ukraine itself. Perhaps could have at least one from the other side of the argument? Otherwise, prisoner swap is always good news.
