      My local AG has these in each of the bays, I use it for focussed practise and gapping and with the app, I can analyse some of the data when I get back home. My ears pricked up when you mentioned the algorithm adjustment for range balls, I’ve always believed they came out about 5-10 yards short. My grandson plays the fishing game when we go together, so we can both enjoy the session. Great bit of kit.

    I used one a few times and wasn't that convinced the radar was facing in a way its impossible to collect data from the ball at the moment of impact so it can only calculate the ball speed after it has left the bay and it basically gave the distance of where a range lake ball landed and it was into a really strong wind and I couldn't see anyway of it normalising to get your distance. Funnily enough I had a fitting where the latest flightscope was set up directly behind me in the bay and the data was different again
    Alright for a bit of fun and if it gets people into golf great but didn't help with distance on clubs or anything in that respect.

    It’s a good upgrade from a basic range. However, if you’re thinking this is the full Trackman, you’ll be disappointed. I’ll definitely use it for a gapping session and with the kids.

    I think you need to hit the convert button on the menu on the right hand side. From what I understand trackman is calibrated for range balls and "convert" will convert the yardages to real yardages as if you are using normal golf balls. Cheers Dylan.

    • @markparker5585
      @markparker5585 2 месяца назад

      That's what I understand too. Our local one doesn't default to conversion, so you have to select a club, then hit the convert button, which then stays on for all your irons. Maybe they either already hit Convert, or that one defaults to convert.

      I’m confused with the Convert button at the moment. Without pressing it the driver goes my usual distance but with it on it’s telling me it’s 30 yards shorter. Can you help me understand this?

    I like trackman on an open range, but I don’t trust hitting into a screen. I haven’t hit a slice with driver in over 10 years but on my local trackman indoor range I struggle with slicing. Can’t trust it now

    • @alexetchesxtra
      @alexetchesxtra  8 месяцев назад

      That’s common. It’s just trusting the swing inside not the system itself. You can get used to it but not everyone likes it 👍

    Have had trackman at the range say balls are going further than previous shots when they were clearly 5-10 yards shorter. Was my sand wedge being called longer than my approach wedge. All messed up, and different from range finder..?

  • @thehairygolfer

    I recently had a lesson in a trackman studio. It measured my 7 iron swing at 70mph and a carry of 140 yards. My driver it measured at 87mph and 195 yards carry.
    Not sure why as my 7 iron is 82mph with a carry of 154 yards and my driver is 96mph and a carry of 225 yards average.
    GC Quad is so much better.
    The one range I know the bays are a bit cramped and it picks up balls from other bays to show on your screen. It's a bit shite.

    • @alexetchesxtra

    Trackman takes into account temperature. Most golfers don't; hence, the loss of yards and yes ... golf ball as well. Premium golf balls will go about 10 yrs further than beat up drunk range balls.

      Lol what? Nobody uses "laser".
      Trackman is a radar based unit, which is ideal for outdoor use, not for indoor.
      Then there are camera based units, like the GCquad and such, those are the best for indoor.
