  • AVOID THIS HOTEL IN MOROCCO 🇲🇦 is a video where I travel to Morocco in 2024. Today I share a bad experience with Hyatt Regency in Taghazout Bay Agadir, the way they treated us was very disappointing and I wanted to share this video with you so you don't have the same treatment as we did previously.

I also stayed here. They refused to turn on the AC In July) and said they wouldn't as we were the only ones there and they would do it "just for me." Fortunatlly I used an AMEX so they reversed the charge however as I was leaving they were making fun of me saying I wouldn't get any money back.

Your wife’s additional information made it more clear (sorry, I forgot her name). People like to downplay when non-white people feel discriminated against. They say we’re overreacting. But, a lot of us mostly have a thick skin, and have great lives, stepping over racist people. So, when something rubs us the wrong way, it means something. So, as an American-American, who gets a bit of First world privilege, I pay attention to how the staff is treated. If a business disrespects staff, or anyone, I would not like to spend my money there. Thanks for the heads up.

It does happen that two meetings are scheduled at once. However, it only takes one minute of communication to inform both parties and give the option to reschedule. I do wholeheartedly agree with the discrimination element. I remember being at an airport waiting to go to the boarding area and told it didnt open for 15 minutes. 1 minute later a woman comes along and the boarding area is opened immediately.

    • @YadVenturess

I live in a small town just south of Tangier. I moved here in November 2024. The main racism I have faced here are by a few shop keepers. At the first tabac shop I went to there was a very young man (possibly a student) who basically slammed the change change on the counter with the dirtiest look you could possibly imagine. The next was a shop which sold kitchen wares, when I asked the price for an item she told me but this was said in a snarl, I thought she was ready to bite my head off but the customer who came is who was Moroccan was treated with smiles (I still don't get what I did wrong). The third was a butcher who had chicken in the glass case, I asked if he had one about 1 to 1 1/2 kg and he just looked up and just said no very nastyly. A man selling veg in the next stall very kindly to go around the corner and I could get chicken there. NOW PLEASE UNDERSTAN THAT AS A MUSLIM I ALWAYS GREET THE PROPERLY AND ALWAYS WITH A SMILE. I ALWAY SAY PLEASE AND THANK YOU AS I WAS RAISED TO DO. BUT THAT FIRST WEEK HERE I REALLY QUESTIONED WHY THE HELL DID I MOVE HERE AFTER VISITING TWICE BEFORE AND HAVEING BEEN TREATED WITH KINDNESS. THREE IN A WEEK IS ENOUGH. I AM STILL HERE AND HAVE FOUND ALL THE SHOPS I NEED AND VISIT EVERY WEEK TO STOCK UP. THEY ARE HAPPY FOR THE BUSUNESS. There are good and there are bad people everywhere.

My family have visited Agadir several times and we love the people and the environment but we have come across few businesses/Hotels/restaurants with a very laid back attitude in dealing with my family because we are of south Indian background, we noticed they have given more respect and attention to white people, this is so unfair as any ethical backgrounds should be treated the same! Don't let it get through to you Yad brother. I find ignoring things like these as quick as possible is best answer. Don't let an idiot spoil any of your time.
Discrimination certainly exists in Morocco and widely!! but it only reflects the individual's level of education or level of ignorance to be more correct... I'm Moroccan who lived in the UK for 20 years and never once got stopped by UK police while living in different parts of the UK. Last month I visited Agadir after seeing your 1st video from there, I absolutely loved the city and loved most of its people BUT !! There's always that idiot who'll try to spoil your experience like what happened with me...a police man by Agadir beach decided to stop me and ask for my ID then he contacted control room to run a check on me !! Lol just randomly like that but I could see him before I got near him and knew he couldn't wait to act a bit racist because I certainly don't look suspicious in anyway... no way he could've stopped a white tourist to run a check on them. He did it just because I looked Moroccan but he was very polite and spoke with respect when I showed him UK passport which is very sad !
Like I said just ignore low lives and stay happy, what you do is great carry on ....not everyone's the same some unbalanced people out there

This person offends himself before offending others. The hotel manager must have good qualities because he represents an institution that is visited by people from different cultures. And from what you said, this person is not worthy of respect and is not worthy of the position assigned to him.

Karen vibe. people work hard in Morocco manger to waiter. They love their country, and their work. If you can’t wait 30 min à marketing manager who accepted to receive you, how are you gonna work. Question yourself don’t be selfish. And talking about discrimination it’s very funny through a white people mouth

    • @YadVenturess
      @YadVenturess  2 месяца назад

You obviously didn’t understand any of the context of what was explained in the video.
The discrimination was not against being “white” it was actually against myself and as you can see I am not white. Watch the video properly and try to understand before commenting. This video has nothing to do with “Moroccan people” it’s about one specific individual that behaved extremely unprofessionally and for a 5 star resort you shouldn’t have people like that dealing with PR.
Global companies like Hyatt regency should know better and do better. When you set a meeting respect the individual and don’t act unprofessional.

There could definitely be racial motivations behind his mistreatment of you. Was the person in question an expat or a Moroccan himself? Either way, it's clear that the individual was prioritizing white content creators over you. This behavior is not only extremely unprofessional and insulting, but it also represents poor business practice for the hotel.
That being said, I wouldn't go as far as to generalize the entire establishment or assume that it reflects the management's general approach. The values and selective behavior of this particular person, who isn't a customer-facing representative, shouldn't be seen as indicative of how guests are treated overall.
As horrible as your experience with him might have been, I don't find it sufficient evidence to avoid the entire hotel. For me, drawing a line between a single individual and the entire organization is a bit of a stretch. However, I do think this person should be held accountable and owes you an apology. Even better, the hotel itself should apologize and rectify the situation.
But I've searched for some reviews online, as well as general ratings, and it appears the hotel generally scores quite high. So, hopefully, this was just an isolated incident. My advice to you, as a businessperson myself, is to be careful not to burn bridges in this manner. Try to bypass the individual and reach out to his superior. Place your complaint there and wait for their response. It could be a situation they'll rectify.
I understand; I've had knee-jerk reactions myself many times. However, the last thing you need is for other establishments you'll do business with in the future to see this video and deem it somewhat unfair in its assertions about the entire hotel, thus fearing collaboration due to the risk of some isolated event causing a similar reaction. That being said, you are absolutely not in the wrong for having a serious issue with the individual who was supposed to meet with you.
This is just my two cents, and I hope you can resolve the situation.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Harry. I really appreciate it! The issue we face as RUclipsrs/vloggers is that many hotels around the world treat the work we do for them as if it's worthless. Not enough people speak up and just take this type of treatment from many of the marketing departments. Indeed, it may not be the whole hotel that is at fault; however, this individual represents the hotel, and they have chosen to train/manage him. So, by making these types of videos, they need to do better in terms of training their staff to respect all people equally.

    Hi yad
First of all Im sorry that you had to experience this I totally understand your dispoitement but I think you could have just describe your experience with the manager rather than advising not to visit the resort, when I read the title I thought it’s gonna be about bad service like hygiene or low quality of food or anything that may make a simple tourist uncomfortable. I think you trying to screw the resort reputation because of a personnal problem with 1person from the hotel is as unprofessional as this person was toward you.
Also I didn’t like the fact that you assumed quickly that he were racist towards you maybe they contacted him before you did or they had more followers , you can’t know his intentions im not defending him but i don’t like how people play with the racism card to get sympathy 😬
Lastly I hope this bad experience won’t affect your stay in agadir I hope you have a wonderful time in there it’s a very beautiful city and I recommend essaouira also it’s my favourite in that region 🫶🏻

Nobody is playing a sympathy card here. The individual was disrespectful and we are using our platform to address this, just like we showcase and address all the positive things! Sweeping things under the carpet isn’t a solution to a problem. It needs to be openly discussed. By no means this one incident is tarnishing our stay! We still love Morocco and will carry on with investing our time and money in showcasing this beautiful country, but we love to show the reality of our experiences, which sometimes are negative. That’s life!
