One lesson I've learnt from billionaires is to always put your money to work, and diversifying your investments. I'm planning to invest about $200k of my savings in stocks this year, and I hope I make profits.

You are right. The best approach I feel is to diversify investments- by spreading investments across different asset classes like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown.

My life changed too when I started doing this and putting money in stocks. The first few years it as really great, but this year I haven't felt like my portfolio is doing well. I have lost more than $40,000 from my portfolio the past four months, and it's now very worrisome.

My portfolio for the past 30 years has always been self managed and I own 3 shares of Berkshire Hathaway Class A stock (BRK:A) which I bought in at about $17,000 during the mid 90s, I'm currently liquidating some of these positions to incoporate new Gen. 0:52 #1 It's gone down this much already -- it can't go any lower

1:55 #3 Eventually all stocks come back / recover
    2:13 #4 It's only $3, how much can I lose?
    2:48 #5 It's always darkest before dawn
    3:53 #6 On the rebound to 10 I'll sell
4:50 #7 I don't have to worry with conservative stocks
5:10 #8 I lost money from not buying
5:45 #9 I missed that one, I'll catch the next one
6:08 #10 If stock goes up, I'm right. If it goes down, I'm wrong
6:40 Average movement of a stock is 50% between its high and low
    7:30 I've never broken even on long-shots

That said I've been almost 100% in bitcoin for 12 years or so so I get the invest and stick with one great option if it presents itself. Long term though it may be best two have a few trades in play at any given time, just because you won't get every call right

Isn't it amazing that the gurus of stock investing have been so unsuccessful breaking through the BS most people believe still today? I'm new to investing and I already feel smarter than 90% of those who seem to know it all. I just see so much misinformation and contradictions it is unreal! I also believe diversification doesn't add up, yet almost everyone giving advice says you gotta do it, without providing real data to back it up let alone describe the fundamental behind this trend. My biggest problem is bonds as part of a long term retirement investment account. The math doesn't support having them but just about everyone will call you nuts if you go 100% equity, even though the best investors have done this with great success and never lost sleep over it. Bad advice and emotions should never drive your investing choices or have a part in your portfolio yet most of the time this is the case.

If you owned an x-men # 1 comic book you control the pricing. You will never be able to control the stock market pricing.

I am not sure why somepne at yahoo thought adding music was creative genius. Who wants to listen to garbage music when someone is speaking?
Take a video, add a track, wow I am a genius video editor but an annoying bastard no one wants to be around.

You just did not get it -- yet. Do not worry, it takes some time. I am an old guy. I did not understood Lynch back in the days when I started investing. With experience this all makes sense. Lynch, Fisher, Buffet ... best advice.
