Our First Ice of 2024 | Ice Fishing Scofield State Park, Utah

We head down to Scofield Reservoir for our first ice fishing day of the 2024 winter season! We set up in the scenic mountain setting to jig for some beautiful healthy and frisky cutthroat trout. It's been a slow start to the winter in Utah, typically home to the best snow on Earth, we haven't gotten much. Warmer temps have also led to a lack of ice in the Central parts of Utah around Salt Lake City and up I-80. Hopefully the start freezing soon with colder temps. We look forward to hitting some more local spots with safer Ice. Scofield holds Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout and if your lucky enough people have been hooking into some beautiful Tiger Muskie recently. There was about a foot of ice all around, more than safe with snowmobiles and the like out on the ice. Still some cracking and soft mushy edges with warm temps or sun in areas.
We were excited to try out a brand new Auger set up this year with a Milwaulkee cordless 18 vold drill, clam plate, and K drill. We used the K rill Extension kit to attach the two although we doubt ever needing the extra length out here.
