I've watched many videos and tutorials to try and learn rhythms as a beginner. I LOVE your style... I'm finally getting it!! The way you count everything out also simplifies it for me. Thank you and please keep em coming!! Peace and Love to you. The haters should just find another instructor who fits their needs... why spew unnecessary rudeness and be mean, just change the channel if you're not feelin it. Grow up, get a life, Reap what u Sow... What a world.
This is neither the original Cuban Mozambique nor the New York style developed by Palmieri, Oquendo and Tommy Lopez. This guy seems very sincere and he's having a good time on his drums, but for those who are interested in learning Mozambique, this is definitely not it.
If Pedro Izquierdo (AKA: Pello El Afrokán) RIP, creator of the Cuban Mozambique, and Francisco Aguabella and Manny Oquendo who arguably develop the "New York" style Mozambique as working with Eddie Palmieri and "La Perfecta" from their graves, forgive you, who am I to judge you??? Good luck!
It's a shame that this guy did not do his research. When I try to learn a rhythm, I first , go to the source, like cuba or where ever it came from. Yes you can use youtube for information but look at all of the videos on the subject. If you look at fifteen videos and they all sound about the same, maybe that is the correct way to play the rhythm.
This isn't the orignal Cuban version of Mozambique ... you can find it transcripted in Rebecca Malleon's book, Cuban Rhytms. I've been to Cuba twice and learned it from the Real McCoy's. Thanks for trying anyway.
I know 3 versions of the Mozambique for 2 drums and 1 for 3 drums. What this guy is playing I have no idea. It sounds like vaguely like a NY style mozambique from a self taught player without a teacher.
Esto no es mozambique cubano (el original) ni mozambique New York style. Entonces que es? Musica folklorica de Mozambique tal vez. El problema es que este tipo no conoce de lo que esta hablando.
With respect but this is not even remotely related to MozambiquE. Nothing wrong with the groove but don't you people go learning this thinking you are learning the Mozambique.
amigo I suggest you go back to who ever taught you this pattern that has nothing to with mozambique and with that money you go to Cuba and learn the REAL Mozambique......as a Cuban teacher taught me one is not good posting wrong info cause you will just confuse those trying to learn, keep real to the rhythm and the traditions. peace be with you brother
My man,I have no idea what you're playing and I don't think you do either. The only thing you have correct are the origin and pronouncing of the rhythms.Good luck, those who don't know may believe what you're doing.
As a percussionist for thirty years I know when someone knows what they're doing., so that is why I commented. Since you said you learned something, if i we're you I would start over again because bad habits are hard to get rid of. And I say it again, he doesn't know what he's doing! Read the other comments, I'm not the only one that thinks so.
Too bad drummer! Hear all! not learn from this guy! will learn bad! ("Alex Papas. Mozanbique on Congas" that if Mozambique!) Not leave the link because it can not, find the title of the video!

Excelent ejecución. Saludos desde Nicaragua
My teacher learned Mozambique in Cuba from Pello el Afrokan and it doesn't sound like this.

Edgardo Cam
My brother, this is NOT Mozambique. It’s a nice pattern, but not even close
Uma beleza de aula!
Nice class!
Mind that the Tip after the closed Tone is the 2. Otherwise the 2-3 clave (and no other clave) will fit.
No sobrevivió a su creador el "Mozambique".
Nothing to do with Mozambique or Pello el Afokan, the originator
Michael de Miranda on youtube could really show you how to play well.

There is no resemblance to Mozambique whatsoever.
I like your Haitian stuff though
cara de guante.
You have no idea what Mozanbique is. Go to Cuba and learn.

robert smith Why would you bother commenting on someones genuine effort to share? I quite enjoyed it and learned something .
