I very much look forward to your videos. I learn better hands on and I ❤ how you describe each material. I try to buy materials monthly and I have about 30 of them coming 😊.
I love your content as a beginner perfumer. I have 2 boxes of raw materials and I am so happy to find content like this so I can create a good smelling formula.
I just got an old 75ml bottle of this...amazing stuff. Guerlains exclusive line is superb, this along with Angelique Noire and Cuir Beluga is TOP TIER vanilla
Of all the channels, I appreciated Aaron Terrence Hughes the most... until I found your channel! Now you two share the number one spot since I really enjoy both of your content! The problem is that now I am looking for raw materials to try to make my own versions of fragrances and that is costly, but... passion is passion. Thank you for the AWESOME CONTENT, your voice is calming bro and I listen to these sessions while working, while relaxing, while driving. I hope you will become a big perfumer one day!
@@RyanParfums I have just started my friend! I am from EU and I want to find a website that sells raw materials for decent prices. I hope I will. Thank you for the inspiration!!
The fragrance breakdown at the beginning of your videos is so helpful for those of us who are just starting out. This has really helped me to understand perfume composition and the play between notes more than anything. I also greatly appreciate how you let us know the total grams in your final composition, as I can then convert the %'s to a smaller but useable sample (say 15ml finished) to evaluate a new scent before committing to a full bottle. I follow a couple of perfume channels, but always seem to get the most understanding from yours. You're doing a great job and the time and effort you put in does not go unnoticed! Thank you! 👏👍❤
Thx for the vanillic composition show-case. I was wondering how they formulate a fragrance whith the vanillin or coumarin at the center. The answer seems to be "just skip top and heart notes". :D My mistake is that I tend to formulate up to 1000 parts per weight without "empty space". I just need to let it go, I see... Thx!
Hey Ryan. So I'm rewatching all your videos from oldest to newest. I'm also taking notes this time. Here you mention the BHT for Hedione and Hedione HC. What percentage and volume of bht would you add to hedione and hedione HC? The Perfumers Apprentice suggests a 0.05% or lower concentration in concentrated materials. Ok, but how much per gram of Hedione? Did that make sense? Thanks - Toby
Thank you for doing these videos. Question, you are doing 400+ grams of dpg, once you let sit will you add perfumers alcohol to make perfume 20% and if so does dpg count to the formula for dilution?
DPG, despite being a solvent, is considered part of the concentrate. If I make a parfum at 20% concentration, then I’d blend 20 parts concentrate, 80 parts ethanol.
Love the new video setup! I smelled and tested double Vanille last week, smells okay, but it doesn't perform. Last for only 2 hours on my skin(working in office). And doesnt project. For the price, 200ml for about MYR2450 / 450usd, not worth it
Thank you for your reply ! Indeed! For a good projection formula, what is the maximum % of solid material(vanillin, ethyl vanillin, coumarin ,etc) in your perspective, Ryan?@@RyanParfums
The Vanilla Absolute I have as at a 50% dilution in Benzyl Benzoate, sold by Perfumers Apprentice. Harry Sherwood (www.HarrisonJoseph.co.uk) sells an "upcycled" Vanilla Absolute at a 25% dilution; the solvent is a 50/50 mix of DPG and Ethanol. You could try one of those first. 😀
Hello nice videos ! Have a question, so you did like 4grams of raw materials undiluted. So if you want to do a 10ml perfume of this you take like 2ml of rm of this 4g and the 8ml of alcohol and you get your 20% perfume concentration?
Quick question: Is there a reason you omitted the Ethyl Octanoate or did I miss that? What purpose would it serve in the formula? I guess that's three questions!
It’s a sweet, fruity molecule that I just didn’t have, and I don’t know how to appropriately substitute. Given the minuscule amount in the formula, the easiest decision to make was to simply exclude it.
So Ryan love your videos but im a bit confused i guess on the formula given. One is the DGP the parts in a count for dilutions. It pretty high so im thinking not. And two you said you added .03g @10% of Ambroxan so Ambroxan is 1 /521 or .19% of your 8g total concentration= .0152g. Taking out the 479 which is dpg I guess im not clear on what you got .03g If you can share some light thanks
Yes! Ambroxan is 0.19% of the formula on an absolute basis (excluding solvents like DPG, Ethanol, etc). It gets complicated because the formula I'm blending is only 8.241 grams at an 18.96% concentration. And, the Ambroxan itself is at a 10% dilution: (0.03g Ambroxan @ 10% dilution) / (8.241g sample) / 18.96% concentration = 0.19% This matches with the main formula: (1g Ambroxan) / (1000g sample) / 52.1%concentration = 0.19%
In this video, when talking about Styrallyl Acetate, I’m constantly saying “Phenyl Ethyl Alcohol”. I mean to say “Phenyl Ethyl Acetate”. 22:15

Amazing fragrance!

Some say that music happens in between the rhythms and notes. Perhaps it's the same with perfumery :-)

I’ve yet to add BHT to my Hedione neat. But given the amount I add to my ethanol (0.1g per 100g), my “Hedione 50” would have 0.05g BHT per 100g.

I can understand the projection issue given the amount of heavy molecules and materials on the juice. And yah, prices these days are crazy!

Hi Ryan! How do you dissolve vanilla absolute? My vanilla abs doesn’t dissolve in ethanol, I don’t know why…
Where can I find diagrams like the one at 1:19 ?
These diagrams are created within the Formulair app, a perfumery app created by Sam Macer, available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

This is tough to answer in a short response. I’ll do a video soon about formulas and dilutions.

Dear teacher please add formula in grams...
If not possible than tell me how to convert parts in grams
I will explain this in an upcoming video.
