- I have seen some pretty poor movies recently but NOTHING compares to this absolute piece of TRASH. Possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. Indiana Jones trips and stumbles, grazing both knees on the way down in this dour, sad and pathetic finale.

I went to see the new Jennifer Lawrence movie and the employee asked me if I wanted tickets to see Indy. I told him HELL NO and they both laughed. I asked their opinions since they had already watched it. They just shook their heads in disappointment… all I needed to know!
Moral Disney is trying to teach in all their recent films. You can be as awful, narcissistic and evil as you want as long as you're a woman or black because it's never your fault.

At least as far back as the 1st Maleficent film when they started this strange trend of turning their classic villains from the pre 80s animated films into poor, misunderstood victims.
It's clearly shows that they saw Wicked and took all the wrong lessons from it - you can't just blanket apply that same idea for everything, it simply doesn't work, especially if you micro manage the writers which Disney are want to do.

To be fair, Kingdom of The Crystal Skull is a fucking masterpiece in contrast to the absolute horseshit Disney has been pumping out lately and makes you long for the days when the biggest sin of a sequel for a franchise that concluded ages ago was that the only motivation for producing them was to capitalize on the nostalgia of the fans of the original films.
Yeah, for me, the third one was bad enough to call it quits. Only reason I liked Temple of Doom is because I was at that age that I liked everything. For me, the only good movie in the series is the first one.

My childhood hero. My absolute favourite fictional character of all time. What they’ve done makes me feel physically sick. Utterly heartbreaking.

On the upside they didn't massacre Indy until well after we all knew what to expect. At least you (hopefully) knew to come watch Az rip into it instead of wasting your money for the experience. In my mind the series ended when they rode off into the sunset in the last crusade. You deserve an award for such a fine review. Completely honest and no holding back. Love it!

My coworker was all jazzed up to go, and begged me to go with him. I told him I had plans to spend that day continuously slamming my head in the car door, so I wouldn't be able to make it.

It's both funny and sad that a youtuber does a far better job with cinematography and gravitas than most current Hollywood films. Thanks, Az. Keep fighting the good fight.
Amazing review. I just came from The Critical Drinkers review to this one. This completely justified emotion is what millions will be feeling when the word gets out. Disney cannot go bankrupt fast enough. Unbelievably disappointing to see Disney take a slow gutting knife to Indiana Jones. Outstanding review and video. 1:30 a rose, covered in the tears of the Loyal Indiana Jones fans, to place on the grave of Indiana Jones - murdered June 2023, by the Disney Corporation.

I think that Harrison Ford knew that Disney was going to chop the franchise to bits no matter what and that he had friends who would never work in a film this size and get paid this much again to do that. So, for Mr. Ford, this was as much helping out some lifelong friends make a last great paycheck as he, himself, takes a last great paycheck as well. I don't blame Harrison Ford for the absolute garbage Disney has been putting out. Disney is responsible for that - all on their own.

Ironically, if you made a movie about Kathleen Kennedy and all the things she'd done she'd go down as one of those villains who got away with it, the Life and Times of a Serial Movie Killer. You could make a joke about one of Hollywood's villains popping out of the picture box and taking her place without anyone noticing. As long as she's around none of the bad guys on film will be as villainous as she is.
Perhaps she's less a villain and more an anti-hero? Let's face it I think most of us have been complaining about the lack of new, original IPs in our film and TV and even games. Everything these days is a sequel or a prequel or a re-imagining. If they just drive all these franchises in to the ground then studio execs have no choice but to greenlight NEW stuff rather than just relying on nostalgia to get us in the cinema.
Thank you for the cinematic experience. Lucasfilm has nothing left to kill.

Indiana Jones is supposed to be the main character, and possibly have a sidekick. But in this giant flop, the horseface woman is the main character, and she’s the one with the sidekick! And like you said, poor old Indy is just there. He’s merely present as horseface does things. Disney and Kathleen Kennedy have a lot to answer for.
They probably thought killing off Mutt would be a fan service bone to the fans since we didn't care for the Crystal Skull or LaBeouf (sp?). Having Karen Allen show up at the end was obviously tacked on in a attempt to calm fans down and I hope they paid her a ton of money to show up. What is it with these psychos that keep taking once heroic characters and turning them into old isolated sad sacks that get lead around by skinny little girls!?! its damn near a trope now.
So basically she stole the artifact that indy was researching and planning to bring it to a museum after he is finished with it, to sell it on a black market, meaning that artifact will never be seen again.
Then later in the movie she berate him about stealing long lost and forgoten artifacts to display them in a museum, like wtf girl.

Nah…there were always plenty of bad movies around, and a couple good ones. We just tend to have nostalgia googles for whatever movies we saw in our teens and early 20s. Plus now, we only see the GOOD movies from prior decades, but there were lots misguided script ideas or dumb cash grab movies back then as well….just now mostly forgotten.

The first film we ever rented when we got our Radio Rentals video player was Raiders of the lost ark . Watching Indy beat the Nazis and save the day with my Mum & Dad was a huge childhood memory “ I’ll never forget you Indy RIP “

Agree OP was brave for sitting through this dreadful film - First 3 Indy were classic and had soul,+ timeless adventure; even Id4 skull was okay - had perfect ending - union with Son and marrying Marion - should have stopped there.
The Indiana Jones trilogy is one of the best on-screen experiences of all time.

The intro to this video was 100 times better than any of the crap I have seen coming out of hollywood in the last 5 years. I want AZ, Drinker, Nerdrotic, Mauler and all to work on a movie.....they would be unbeatable because....they CARE!!!

Favourite part of The Last Crusade was when Indy was reaching for the Grail at the end, and then his dad punched him in the face.

You're misrembering. The blonde lady punched him and saved him from falling into the hole and found the grail by herself when Indy wanted to grab a plain metal cup.
Irony is that the absurdity of drinking water from a cup given to you by an 800 year old monk can heal a mortal wound...but yeah, let's pretend the bar has been lowered for this film and the crystal skull fridge nonsense.

I just watched Indy 3 for the first time in over a decade.
All the movies suddenly appeared on Sky.
I guess Disney needs money.
However, such a good time.
And how they ride into the sunset in the end is the perfect ending for the Indiana Jones franchise of which only 3 movies exist.

It is not "being told what to think". And on the topic of being manipulative, look at yourself and your kindergarten-level attempt : trying to call us sheep without using the word.
It's like you're daring people to eat dog shit because hey, maybe their parents were "telling them what to think" when they told them not to. Why don't you try it yourself ? If that movie is so fantastic, why don't you enjoy seeing it over and over again ? You'll even enjoy empty theaters without us around. And I'm sure Disney will appreciate your chump change.

I had a hero when I was a child, his name? Indiana Jones. He taught me that problems can be solved, good guys win, to take care of women and kids, to stand up against those in power and however bad things seem never, ever give up because all you need is determination and drive to overcome hurdles.
Now I know its a series of films about a fictional character in incredible circumstances - I certainly didnt go swinging into my office through the window and its through rose tinted specs that I look back, however these stories gave kids a euphoria and energy that the majority of modern films just don't. Nowadays they are simply projects that are planned through a series of "progressive" check boxes.
I'll watch Temple of Doom tonight and remember IJ as he was.
Well said. Yes, I also had to go back and watch a few scenes of Raiders, Temple of Doom, and Last Crusade...just to get the Dial of Diarrhea trailer out of my mind. There would have been no returning if I'd have made the mistake of watching the actual movie.

There a number of very well made films being produced today. But if your taste is anything other than films directed towards teenage boys and young adults , which is who the Raiders films were intended for. I’m sure you can find something out there.

I watch a wide variety of films and there are some excellent films being made I agree. My problem is that what the big studios pump out now is pure drivel and instead of spoiling stories just to appease a select audience they should maybe write original stories that the current generation would enjoy rather than sh't on the film's that built these studios up in the first place.
I am only saying that for kids it's good that they have heroic role models to reinforce what they are taught in home and in society.
There's no problem with that. If you want to throw in a sly comment about condolences about the death of a certain character as if people are making too much of it rather than try to understand from a different perspective, fine.
The series end at the end of The Last Crusade with Indiana, his father, and Marcus literally riding into the sunset. It was even titled "The Last Crusade", as in the finale.
Hollywood forgot that films are supposed to make us feel good... to feel good about ourselves... to inspire us to do better... and to help us get through the challenges of our little lives.

I’ve been watching The Making of Indiana Jones and it still amazes me how much time and effort went into everything, from the casting to the sets to the writing. Not to mention it was all done practically.
From the sounds of it here, they just went “eh, we’ll CGI everything and throw in a bunch of call-backs.”

I checked my movie theatre for today. There are 4 showings between 7pm and 1030. Theyve sold 48 seats. I counted. The 10pm showing has sold 2 seats. The 1030 showing is completely empty. I live in a border city, its summer time and 106 outside. You think this would be prime movie going time. Hollywood is crumbling and im here for it.
