Amongst other things, I've got hypermobility, Autism, Hyper/hypo processing sensory disorder and am on the diagnostic pathway now for ADHD, the way Jojo's always moving/jumping off things and so forth, reminds me of me and I'm 23. Loved this video! Oh and who doesn't like to live in comfort though, me pretty much 24/7?❤️
I really hope people refrain from making comments about jojos behaviour now you have given an explanation, really nice of you to open up about such private/personal information. It has probably been quite hurtful reading some of the comments in the past,hopefully that will stop now,sending lots of love xx
I think it's really helpful to other additional needs families when someone with a platform speaks out. I've seen comments about Jojos behaviour on here and elsewhere loads of times and based on my own daughter could see a lot of her in JoJo. Hopefully people understand now and will back off. He's such a lovely and bright little boy!
@@FamilyFreedom as a parent it is heart wrenching when people make negative comments about out children, our job is to love and protect them and we cherish them with all our heart and nothing would hurt me more than someone making a not so nice comment about one of my son's, you have dealt with it on each occasion with such dignity and I commend you for not feeding the negativity. Jojo is actually one of the most polite well spoken children I have come across in a long while,more people should look at the good in someone rather than the opposite.well done for bringing up such well adjusted,bright,kind children,they are a credit to you xx (I know Sam and Jamie are hardly children anymore!!) Do you have a trampoline for Jojo? In the States they have started having Ninja warriors classes for kids, an obstacle challenge course, maybe they have something like that for him by you.
At my school my class has movement breaks but me and my bff leave more often because it's more harder btw JoJo's communication skills are actually really good

Amy H Fair enough, I'm a Habilitation Technician and I work with children with dual diagnosis (psychiatric diagnosis and mental handicaps) I have never witnessed an autistic child that made such eye contact and was so openly affectionate as Jojo. Perhaps that is due to the mental deficiencies of my clientele. So not to say that situation doesn't exist. What are the characteristics you see in Jojo that led you to suspect autism?

Hey I know how jojo fills I have special need and austic things need to be simple I now 24 I had really hard time in school cause I couldn't stay in chair or stop moving they got really angry at me all time then made me angry then I go into upset cause I dont like shouting I went to a normal school I was buily me all time and just used to get so angry they have to hold me now or put me in a room to calm down. Jojo your doing great keep up your work

My 9 year old has aspergers (high functional autism) and he likes pressure too, has the need to fidget and move all the time and at school he does have a hard time because he is so nice and sensitive kids take advantage of him :(
As someone who is special needs I appreciate how you treat jojo like “normal” I met you in real life and you didn’t force me to look at you or make me feel weird for being bad at communicating!!
My little guy (2yrs) is also in OT as well. He has only been it for a short time. He too likes to jump and crashing into things... particularly me. Yay... you read my assumption! It was a positive one.
I am not sure if it is something that Jojo would like, but there is something called a gravity blanket and it gives you some pressure that helps with feeling safe. I think i have got it right. I hope it may help. I love your video's xx

I totally get the jumping. I am 31. When I was young I needed alot of stimulating I was extremely hyperactive and Dr wanted to put me on medication my mom refused and made sure I have alot of energy outlets

That’s one thing I’ve never worried about with this family. If any of the kids weren’t straight, I bet these two would be decking everything out in LGBTQ+ gear, going to pride parades even more, and being a major support system. As JoJo is now basically a teenager he has no idea how lucky he was back then in his childhood, and now. Kids gonna have a childhood many people would.. man.. do anything for. Parents who keep you in line and make sure you’re a curious, enthusiastic, kind person but also support you. They’re not “strict” of course, but they give him the proper guidance to be a realistic member of society. Most parents just don’t do this. He’s learned accountability m responsibility, but also knows he can trust his parents with everything and they won’t over react. It’s sad how many people just don’t know what that’s like.
I lack proprioception due to hypermobility in the sense my own body doesnt know where my limbs are in relation the rest of my body so i end up tripping regularly and walking into door frames etc 😂i get how JoJo feels though i love to jump and get a real sense of satisfaction from it however due to spinal injury i have to be extra extra careful now. If Jojo likes pressure have a look at weighted blankets. They aren't cheap but you can possibly make them if you are at all creative.
I just layer three duvets and lots of blankets, as my blanket stays at school

It sounds like ADHD. I had the same needs as a kid but now I am an adult it has changed to ADD as that is what normally happens.

I totally get the jumping. I am 31. When I was young I needed alot of stimulating I was extremely hyperactive and Dr wanted to put me on medication my mom refused and made sure I have alot of energy outlets

That’s one thing I’ve never worried about with this family. If any of the kids weren’t straight, I bet these two would be decking everything out in LGBTQ+ gear, going to pride parades even more, and being a major support system. As JoJo is now basically a teenager he has no idea how lucky he was back then in his childhood, and now. Kids gonna have a childhood many people would.. man.. do anything for. Parents who keep you in line and make sure you’re a curious, enthusiastic, kind person but also support you. They’re not “strict” of course, but they give him the proper guidance to be a realistic member of society. Most parents just don’t do this. He’s learned accountability m responsibility, but also knows he can trust his parents with everything and they won’t over react. It’s sad how many people just don’t know what that’s like.
I lack proprioception due to hypermobility in the sense my own body doesnt know where my limbs are in relation the rest of my body so i end up tripping regularly and walking into door frames etc 😂i get how JoJo feels though i love to jump and get a real sense of satisfaction from it however due to spinal injury i have to be extra extra careful now. Much love guys ❤️ x
