You can tell that the 3x3 split at 10:12 was the last thing I edited because one of the shots (which was the last one I recorded since I had to go back and get footage of the Final Fortress courses) starts just a few frames too early and now it's going to haunt me forever.
😂😂😂 nah its still a great video. Your comment on how music was reused literally came to my mind when I was playing it last night and realised I knew every song in every sonic heroes level. I thought it was a good touch and also made my inner child incredibly happy but I did question if people would think that is lazy or a cheap way to go about it instead of making new original music. Honestly my take on the game is that you have to be willing to enjoy it and not look too deeply at what youre playing. I do think a game has technically failed when a player has to do that but I cant argue with the genuine fun and happiness i felt playing it, especially in moments where the hammy dialogue said something i was actually thinking (crashing with Amy in an online game and her saying “I hope nobody saw that” and me thinking “I know right 😣”. Again, great review man, gonna check out your page and see if youve played anything ill recognise!
Yeah, I agree with you on the voice over. It wasn't until this game that I realized how much I dislike Kirk Thornton's Shadow. I think he could be really great, he's done well in similar roles, but he lays it on way too strong. The writing really doesn't do him any favors either. But on the flipside, Erica Lindbeck is a perfect fit for Blaze. I really hope she gets to stick around.
i think that's the problem with shadow.ive seen kirk thorton's previous roles and he's done a tone of voice that i think could fit shadow but due to sega forcing shadow to be a rival to sonic(when he has no reason to be antagonistic to sonic, sure he gets annoyed but does know sonic means well especially in adventure 2 when he had newfound respect for sonic and even in heroes & 06 he at least still had a sly charm to his personality that was more to the point.honestly in terms of sonic's rivals i liked knuckles more as he had enough of a reason to be wary of sonic's antics.) his writing and voice acting has been crippled as a result when there are ways it can be done well.
I think SEGA has lost faith that high budget Sonic games can make a profit consistently. If a game bombs it can really hurt SEGA and I think they are still recovering from Lost World and Rise of lyric not selling well.
Team sonic racing has sold considerably well though, Sega has also said that they’ll be focusing more of their time and budget on their main franchises in the future, including Sonic.
i think sonic team either needs to just focus on one style and leave the alternate styles to a different sega ip or have separate teams work on the different sonic era styles.(like christian whitehead for classic,a team that fully knows what worked/was good in the adventure games to create a engine replicating it,and the people who directed generations to work on boost.i personally would like to see a successor to the advance series in mania's style as the tsr shorts were the only thing i enjoyed about the game and make me want to see mania's style and flavor with blaze, shadow, the chaotix, rouge, silver & actually remembering cream outside the comics as runners and mario & sonic aside she kinda dropped after generations.)and stop shoehorning the deadly six into everything they're not good villains.(they werent even that good in lost world considering even by sonic standards they were villains put in to keep it from being eggman only for no reason.)
I think the point of stripping away the transform mechanic for TSR was so that the game could stand on its own to begin a new series of sonic themed racers seperate from the all stars racing games. TSR has also sold considerably well so I do think a sequel will be in store and I do think they’ll re implement the transform mechanic there.
when I heard that line I immediately misinterpreted it and burst out laughing. the cast was given some pretty awful lines and voice direction. it hurts to see cause I actually think most of them are very talented.
I might buy this one, I really don’t want to get Mario kart 8 and I was excited for nitro fueled, but after seen how bad the monster monetization in CTR is, it really broke my heart and i won’t get it now After hearing how you prized it, this might actually be the kart racer I end up getting for my switch, hope they make a sequel and take the transformed aspect back with more characters
Unfortunately I can't personally speak on the quality of the Switch version, but I think it would still be alright? To be honest, my interest for TSR has dropped quite a lot since the game has still not fixed the online issues at all, or had any kind of post-launch content. I'd say Mario Kart 8 is the far better game in most aspects but TSR really does have potential, but I guess we'll have to wait for a sequel.
Great video, even though I disagree with many of your points. This is surprisingly well done for a video you made in such a short amount of time. Also, am I the only one who really loves the original announcer from Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing? I'm kind of surprised at how common dislike for him seems to be.
I really really want a Sonic racing again with Transformations! It is soooo cool and i only know it from Allstar Racing and Diddys Kong racing. The booster system also felt better in Allstar. The Team mechanic is pretty cool even though i only could try it alone with bot because no one of my friends are interestet in racing games and online was nobody to play with :(
Nice Video. I basically agree with like 90% of what you said. The only thing I don't agree with is the music compared to Forces. Yes TSR has some really quite good tracks but so does forces. I really enjoyed the soundtracks from both games and I also listen to some tracks of them in my free time or on the school bus. But you're right about the rest about forces, it really isn't a good game. I was kinda suprised when IGN gave it a 6.9 I would have suspected/rated lower. Best regards , Nick Ps. Have a nice time in LA you probably are allready there
Thanks for the comment! And no actually, I got this video done nice and early so I'm still not going to be in LA for another week, I'm up at 2:30am trying to finish my assignments. I recorded the dialogue thinking the video would take me a lot longer.
This game literally as nothing of value, unlike CTR which is filled with content, yeah its has a grindy paywall behind the given content but still content fans wanted non the less.
It's so weird that at this point the what little conversation there is surrounding this game starts and ends with "wahh it didn’t get a million free content updates and DLCs, SEGA abandoned the game!" Like... yeah that's... how 99% of video games ever released work. Just because SEGA and Sumo didn't endlessly add shit to the game doesn't mean it's a bad game, no one thinks Sonic Racing Transformed or Mario Kart 7 sucked or "is dead" just because they were actually released in a finished state. Everyone comparing this to Crash Team Racing is real fuckin quiet now that that game has received SO many updates and changes that it was ruined with so many microtransactions and shit. While TSR is just as good as it was at launch.
Half of the video you listened up issues that this game has. Why would anyone buy this game over Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled?
Are you complaining that my critique on the game was too...critical? If half the video is about issues, and the over half is about things I thought were good, shouldn't be the perfect balance for a critical review? I don't understand what your point is. I liked the game overall, didn't say I thought it was better than Mario Kart 8.
@@telekinesticman You mentioned a lot of issues the game has, so I can't see why I should buy this over Mario kart or Crash Bandicoot. That's it. I mean, you even said, that Transformed did a lot of things better.
@@Nonjola Ah ok, sorry I couldn't quite tell what you meant. I'm used to getting comments that are expressing frustration over the way I critique games. I see what you mean, and I agree. TSR is a good racing game but not a Mario Kart killer at all, especially now that the online is totally dead. If I were to redo this video it'd likely be a bit more negative as a result of this. The game has been completely abandoned.

I think I prefer Laura Bailey for Blaze, but her new voice isn't bad tbh
I’ve never been this high!
17:13 even the japanense version changed the blowfish. It became a nuisance puyo from the puyo puyo series

That's a good point, I do still wish that at least the dynamic tracks could have stayed as well.
This game is now dead even before a year has passed
they made the mistake of releasing it right before ctr

This is a great vid 10/10 i agree with what u said and i think this game had alot of potential if done right
My guess for the ice based tracks are semi-based on Holoska from Unleashed...I mean it's first track has a remix of Cool Edge Day

What happened to Zavok's character in this game?
London Jackson u think they remember way too much, seriously who the hell even asked for Zavok to be in any game

@@telekinesticman Good Luck :3
I bought it for 3 bucks, only for Omega. Nothing else.
When he does it right, Roger Craig Smith is probably the best, sounding the least generic, any other time... yeah, he’s not great.
How do the other Sonic English voices sound generic? Not a word I would use to describe them. Also, when are these times when Roger is doing it right?
