- Hey Guys, Migs Here! In today’s video, we get the free go kart we recently picked up ready to drive for the first time in 16 years! I install the chain and then begin fine tuning the tension of everything in the drivetrain to allow it to properly perform. Thanks for Watching! Not sure if you realized but you can use the engine mounts to tension the belt and the 4 bolts on the jackshaft only to tension the chain
When I first got my go-cart my belt did the same thing and we could not find the right size so I just made my go-cart chain driven instead or belt to chain and it made it go faster.

@@andrewcooper3172 clearly said the belt slipped. If you converted it to chain driven which couldnt slip, it in fact would go faster because there is no belt to slip.

That chain setup is perfect for a comet or Max torque 20 series. Keyword: TWENTY series. Theyre symmetrical vs the asymmetrical 30 series. Shouldn't be too hard to install either!
Pretty cool, 1 question you used the old belt, but couldn't lube and reuse the old chain? Just wondering did you try an lube it? Chains die old

I wouldn't sweat it with the lawnmower engines. What you want to put on it is a 140cc 4 speed manual pitbike engine. You'll have insane power and top speed. 16hp from a 140cc and only 6.5 from a 212

What you really need to do is take off the belt change it into a chain drive that way you can have different gear ratios more torque or crazy speed also can you please say what bolt pattern that is
Also if you're going to present a on the road a white or put some more Roadie e tires Walmart you can get front lawn mower tires for cheap as $15
Used PB blaster spray to loosen those valves up in the old motor and let them soak inside that old motor

i have an identical cart, swapped a 30 series with a 7" driven and a 5.4:1 ratio. it only goes 30, but launches like a rocket.

Tires for those are only like 75$. I had one kind of like that. But tires are cheap and worth it if you’re gonna sell it

I'd convert the belt part of the drive to chain last longer than a belt
So I recently brought a I believe it * from the guy I brought it from * a 2002 murray go kart looks like it has a really old 212 predator engine in it but it doesn’t stay on , when I hit the gas while my dad sprays I think brake fluid or something it stays on but if he stops the kart turns off any who what it might be ?

I'd like to know isn't being under its own power mean original motor?
after it stalls after riding it awhile try taking off the gas cap and looking in the tank before removing the float bowl. its just easier lol

I have a go karts like that something wrong with it and I need help at first it wouldn't start and then I changed the spark plug then it starts and then when I drive it it drives but then it stops driveing and it won't move I really need help please

Carter go-karts started manufacturing in 1967 if that helps you at all.

Be careful for that seatbelt getting too close to the rear wheel
The belt is not supposed to slip at all so should be very tight and let the clutch do all the necessary slippage as it's designed to ok the belt can be nearly solid as it's not like those tension slip clutch belts like on some it's a constant drive belt that can only slip if it really has to if something goes wrong 😉
You should repaint the whole kart black
You can rotate that pull start to get to it easier

You do know that V drive belts are supposed to be tight don't you? it's not like the chain or belt on a converter 😉 look at the belts on your truck water pump etc and also if the pulley on the engine is damaged at all your belts will not last and the old belts are harder than a new one will be so if the new belt is slipping (less likely to being softer) it will burn out twice as fast as the old one, awesome job and show bro cheers
For mine I have a 4L290 belt on it works the best for me

Haaaaa don’t lie, u had to cut 2 chains cause u cut the first one and it was short cause the belt wasn’t tight??? That would b my luck.
