- This data visualization video shows the countries that invest the most of their GDP on research and development, R&D, from 2000 to 2023. Normally more R&D leads to countries that are more advanced in all aspects of their economy even down to quality of life.
Note that a country's historical investment in R&D and education can have long-term effects. A nation that has consistently invested in these areas over decades might have a robust technological and industrial base, even if its current R&D expenditure has decreased.
The amount of investment is one aspect, but how efficiently and effectively that investment is used is another. Some countries might have a high R&D expenditure but may not be as effective in translating that investment into tangible innovations or economic benefits.
What type of R&D does your country invest in?
Well, South Korea need to invest huge amounts of money in research into advanced technologies, since it is not rich in mineral resources and is dependent on the foreign market
Belgium did a nice catching up in the last years, all the way into the top 5. Netherlands surprised me by being almost absent.
What is the song? Its amazing!
Maybe I am wrong but the absolute values are a better KPI to predict potential returns
Can you do the Computer Operation System Market Share Video such as (Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, Ubuntu and Linux)???
Well, R&D does not pay of in relative Investment, but in absolute investment - so, e.g. 2,5% of the huge US economy is a completely different ballgame in USD spent, than the 3,5% R&D of the relatively small economy of Finnland. The chart does not reflect the outcomes of the R&D Investment, but only the effort of a country to invest in that segment, relative to other segments of its budget.
What type of R&D does your country invest in? Spain: None...
True for india also
What is the awesome background music *?*
I don’t know..
This random comment is not helpful.
not sure sorry
I guess they meant South Korea?
yes
I'd like to add these countries are all protected by American military and can spend their money on Rnd instead of defense. Also The us contributes alot of money to the rnd in these countries with federal aswell as private grants. I know its a hot take but as much as the us destabilizes parts of the world they also stablize another part.
In other Words: The US Military is completely overblown in size and costs the US a lot of opportunities in its internal development. And it is not, that somebody forced the US to do that, they came up with this on their own, because they want to have a firm (potential) control over the world - to profit from this. I have to concede, that this probably makes (or has made) the world more peaceful (there is always the one bully, that does not like change and will come after you if you challenge or anger him), but it comes at a cost - not only to the US.
Advanced countries in 21st century
india is not there :(
What do they do R&D in. Title confused me a bit as US is a third world country with 2 mass shootings a day and massive poverty. But yes the elite do make a ton of technology, though it's a shame how bad Sony and movie streaming price hiked though xbox series s doubled their price in Brazil.
There's rivers of trash and poop on the streets.
Why would you think India will be in this list?
Well they did just launch a space shuttle.
shocking

Where’s the UK?
Its there though
The positions shift of course but at the very end of the video (2023) it's in 10th place, between Iceland and Finland.
Sweden's downward trend is correlated with immigration.
Immigrants are a valuable resource for them now. One-fourth of their people are age 60 or older and their birth rate is declining. Without immigrants, the age shift of their population could become catastrophic.
Tbh, pretty boring video :/
There doesn't happen a lot, most countries stay the same place/value for a long time. R&D investments also isn't a very interesting measure for most people
Then why did you watch it
I disagree, its an important topic, and there are changes, the top countries in the first half of the video fell a lot, while some remained stable like japan germany switzerland, and some grew like uk korea singapore and arguably china
Korea is a great country, but I don't think it's number one.
which one do you think should be then?
Samsung made it no1
Where is Saudi Arabia !? It is part of the G20
🤣
Something can't be right, Germany is certainly not in 13th place.
They are much further down. Around 20, I guess.
Not even one african country or South America.
thought Japan would be higher imo
well, even though Korea is enough to be advanced, Korean is not number one as I think as a Korean.
