My Benzein service boots took five months. They're worth it. The only issue I have is that their lasts are not made for those with small insteps and widths. Their midsoles and welts are also on the chunky side like most Indonesian brands so if you're not into the casual or rugged aesthetic these are not for you.

If you ever happen to get a chance to try on the Stan Boot by Rolling Dub Trio do yourself a favor! Beautiful Chelsea with a somewhat more casual silhouette. They’re a Japanese boot brand but a few US retailers carry them. I just got a pair and they’re awesome.

Thanks Nick for another great video. However while the details are on point I'd like to note that Benzein's clicking isn't the best. I'd had boots with less than fine grain, and with scuffs, scars and marks on them on my boots. Saving leather like such helps pass on cost savings to customers, but don't expect Viberg quality leather clicking.
Was interested in them (probably Benzein) about 1 year ago becuase I was amazed from the silloette of the boots.. Looking forward into that video.

Really like the lower part too. Not the sole itself, but like the base of the boot, lol whatever it's called (I'm kind of a boot noob, can you tell). It reminds me of the stacked leather washers in the handles of some knives.

A question, how is the room in the toe box?
Very beautiful, and definitely interested, thanks for showing them off. I am tempted for sure but only concerned for room there. I am an 11.5D Brannock but struggle with a Parkhurst 11D in the 602 last, I can wear them but with a thin sock and only on the weekend. I probably need an 11E but they don't exist. I own a 11.5D which are the compromise when I ordered my second pair and true to size, I had to use a Kiltie and medium weight Darn Toughs.
But I can wear a Nick's Boot in an 11D in any last in their size 3 toe. 11.5D perfect on heel to ball and length. My volume on the left foot is C/D, and right is D/E. My right foot is where the struggle lies.
But I have to wear the Red Wing 877 in an 11.5D as well. I own a Munson Ranger in 11D that fits perfectly.
I have yet to try Grant Stone but was recommended to go 11E in their boots from Wyatt.
Any sizing recommendations?
9 in Red Wing is an EU 43 so maybe you're looking at 45. I would recommend 44.5 because their Kujang last feels like a D heel, E instep, and EE width.
You should probably try PRABU Shoes Indonesia.. its cheap but the quality is insane.

Hey Nick, could you perhaps check out an Indian brand, named Bridln.... They seem to sell pretty high quality shoes at what may be quite an ok price according to international standards.
What about Santalum? 🤷♂️ Think they're a unique boot maker in that region.

How does the heel counter feel in these? And the arch support? I had a pair of boots from Txture that were wonderfully made in terms of detailing and were a really lovely kudu from CF Stead. However, they had just about zero arch support and the footbed was this very, very smooth leather, so every step I took felt like my foot was sliding downhill toward the toebox even though the fit was nice and snug. Also, the heel counter was clearly made out of something a bit soft (maybe leatherboard or fiberboard?) so with wear it started sagging/collapsing. I'd love to check out more Indonesian brands and have heard so many good things about Benzein, but I don't want to bother unless I know I'm getting at least some basic level of arch support and ideally a solid vegtan heel counter.
Heel counter is celastic, arch support is nonexistent. I sized a half size up to wesr custom orthotics.

I don't know how I feel about roughout boots. Never own 1 before. They are rare and even if they are available, they are out of my pocket range. But those boots sure look good and well made. I am jelly.
they're good! there are a fair few roughout boots out there though that aren't too expensive, Red Wing's Hawthorne Muleskinner is roughout, Thursday's 'waxed cacao' is roughout! Roughout doesn't scratch, it's pretty legit

Give them your brannock size, foot measurements, as well as your sizes in other boots.
I've only experienced Junkard's MTO, which is also an Indonesian brand, and they would ask for your foot measurement by tape measure. I also told them the size of my Thursday Captain to have more reference. When it came, it just fits fucking perfect to my feet.
Sorry I forgot to mention that in the video: I measured every bit of my foot and sent them the numbers. Instep, ankle, and a few others! They fit great, though best with thicker socks
Why go with single midsole vs double?

Viberg has great whole cut Chelseas! Carmina does too if you want something dressier.

You cant really return them (generally speaking). So yeah, get your sizing right.
Yes, this was missed out in the video: I measured every bit of my foot (instep, ankle, etc) and they made them from that. Buy a cheap measuring tape at a pharmacy and you'll be well equipped :)

I love the indonesian bootmakers, got 2 from renav on the way, but this particular one looks a bit too much like a viberg chelsea clone imo

Cordovan is very different, it's not even technically leather. Horse leather is more like cow leather - not exactly like it, but behaves more like regular leather. Cordovan doesn't crease and it stays shiny

I just heard back from Benzein, it's now a 5-6 month lead time to order the Chelsea boots, and they are $450 + a 5% Paypal fee. So instead, I ordered a pair of Thursday Chelsea boots which will be here next week at less than half the price.
There’s literally a gazillion different boot manufacturers in Mexico making wholecut Chelsea boots for between US$80 & US$150, including ones with Goodyear welt construction, with nailed violin backs, etc, etc. Problem is it’s hard to get ones that are comfy from the get go, as they either make them way over square or way over pointed. Someone need to show then comfy Aussie lasts & the Chelsea boot industry of every other country in the world will die within a year.
It can't be literally a gazillion, Mick! No I get what you mean though. Wholecut is usually very comfy but I think Chelseas are a pretty exact science, easy to get them wrong

I waited 6 monthish for benzein chelsea boots. And its not fit me at all. Kinda dissapointed. The boots is amazing, the fit is trash.
