Thank you so much! I am learning how to run a multiple regression with categorical variables. This is the first resource I have found that interpreted the polytomous categorical variable data. You rock!
All videos are very good. Sir if you kindly upload some videos on testing of likert scale data with different construct, and how to analyse , what hypothesis tests can be applied etc
Again, this helps me take a serious look at multiple regression vs. factorial MANCOVA, but I may use more than two levels of one of my two independent variables, clearly that is not acceptable with this design.
I noticed that just subtracting unstandardized B value of group and career with both comparison to individual, would result to the same 6.967 coeficient when doing another regression test
Dear Dr, I have question. How can we do regression when u have a combination of categorical independent variables and continuous independent variable? Is it possible to do simple linear regression or we can only apply all of them in multiple regression? How to key in all of them as it is in dummy variable?
This video is so helpful. Is it possible (for future videos) to adjust the screen so that youtube captions feature doesn't hide the content? Would be much appreciated!
my multiple regression model has both categorical and continuous predictor variables, how can I interpret when both are included in analysis at the same time. Your suggestion would be really helpful. Thanks
what if you have multiple independent variables that had to be recoded at dummy variables? Do I put in all the created dummy variables for all the original variables?
Thank you for this great tutorial. Your tutorials have helped med many times! Do you have a tutorial for "p for trend" in the dummie variables (p for trend level in ordered categorical variables in multiple regression)?
How would you run a regression model with categorical covariates and no specific reference group is being thought of (such as gender or relationship status where there are up to 5 groups dummy coded)?
Thank you for explaining wonderfully. Could you please advise if i want to study the impact of microfinance program duration on empowerment (empowerment is scale and program duration is ordinal), Can i follow the same procedure for proving that high program duration is associated with more empowerment? I really hope you will help me. Thanks once again!
Is the procedure the same if we have a dichotomous predictive variable? Specifically, do we enter one or both dummy variables in the “independent (s)” window? Thanks, best regards.
How can i conduct regression analysis with categorical variables. For instance; I wish to know the effect of duration of light (scale variable) on fruit devolopment in plants with different hight levels. The fruits are coded as true (1) and false (2) as categorical variable.
What about hierarchical regression and using ordinal variables? Would it basically be the same and then obviously clicking next for the second level? What happens when you get that error message about variables being removed and no regression is computed?
How would you perform a multiple linear regression analysis with 1 categorical variable like you used and several other continuous variables? I really doubt if one would be able to create a predictive model when basically the most effective variable would be left out.
Hi there, what if I have multiple dependent variables, and multiple predictor variables that have been dummy coded...how would I input them in SPSS? Thanks!
Thank you for this nice tutorial! I have one question. I want to conduct a multiple regression with a ration DV and several IV: 1) a dichotomous variable (two-level nominal), 2) a ratio variable (score), 3) a four-level nominal variable recoded as dummy variables Moreover, I have other variables in my data sheet that I do not include in this regression analysis. So, if I do not include one of the level of my recoded "dummy" variable, how do I know that the other three levels will indeed be compared to the first level, and not to something else in my data sheet? Many thanks for your help!
Hi thank you very much for this useful video. Is this the same method if I want to run Multiple linear regression for three different groups? I had done intervention study with three groups and confused how to run multiple linear regression to see different effects of each group.
Hi, i want to ask. What if i want to check the regression analysis between female gender only with dependent variable and make male as a constant variable?
can you please tell if i want to code one variable with FOUR LEVELS so while analyzing the results how should i compare a reference variable with the other three variables?
hi, i noticed that you did not change the three variables (individual, group and career) in the variable view after you recode them into different variables. does it make any difference?
Thanks alot, its so hard to find people who can teach us deep concepts in simple manner
Thank you so much! It seems simple, but for people who don't know where to start, this type of video is very important! It was exactly what I needed!
Clear and concise. I can't listen to my prof, but I can still learn thanks to awesome people like you who shares their knowledge.

Can't thank you enough Dr. Grande for such a wonderful presentation. It is indeed wonderful.
Thank you so much, I've been trying to find a good video on this for days to finish my final project for class!
Dr. Grande, Salute to you. Awesome explanation, now I have no misery in the world of regression :))
Thank you for your videos- you have been most helpful as I work to complete my Master's thesis! I haven't touched this stuff in quite a while!
I think you are a great teacher, but could you please talk little louder which will help to understand better. Thanks. Asha Mehta
Yes that was interesting, helped me to understand why nominal variables with more than 2 levels do not fit with a multiple with regression

Exactly.! This is what I was Looking for.! very useful. video.
I noticed that just subtracting unstandardized B value of group and career with both comparison to individual, would result to the same 6.967 coeficient when doing another regression test
Thank you very much for this informative video. May I know how to deal with categorical independent variables in multiple linear regression in SPSS?

Good video. I found the texts below annoing, though
it helped very much!! thank you
Thank you for uploading it! :)
Thank you very much for the video, Sir! It was I looking for! 😀 Really helpful! Thank you. :D
You're welcome.
Dr. Grande, can you make a tutorial video about performing Multitarget Regression Analysis with categorical independent variables?
THANK YOU!
my multiple regression model has both categorical and continuous predictor variables, how can I interpret when both are included in analysis at the same time. Your suggestion would be really helpful. Thanks
I want to know this too!
Is there an answer for this?
thanks! really useful and practical!
I'm glad you found the video useful. Thanks for watching.

Even I have the same question. Did you find out what needs to be done?
I have the same question. Did you get a solution for this?
I have the same question. Did you happen to find an answer?
thank you sir
Thank you alot for the video. It has been helpful.
I have data and I need some help in the same matter, can I have your email?
This was a great help thank you!!!!

Hi, quick question - would you do this for ordinal variables too?
Interesting to learn how dummy coding works. Can that only be done on nominal independent variables?
What about hierarchical regression and using ordinal variables? Would it basically be the same and then obviously clicking next for the second level? What happens when you get that error message about variables being removed and no regression is computed?

Dear pernelle lorettee I have the similar question with me. Let me know when you get a clarification in this regards. Thanks
@Dr. Grande, would really appreciate it if you can please answer this question...
How do you write the regression equation for this?
How do you test assumptions with a dummy variable?
Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome, thanks for watching -
Hi thank you very much for this useful video. Is this the same method if I want to run Multiple linear regression for three different groups? I had done intervention study with three groups and confused how to run multiple linear regression to see different effects of each group.
Does the dummy variable not include missing values?
Do you not need to go into variable view and change the values in there also?

The audio is so low, I had to up the volume, but when listening I got jumped by the loud ad's sound.
Can you increase the volume in your videos?
What if the variable is already coded 0 and 1? Do we need to recode it into dummy variables?
This already dummy variable you don't need to recode it again.
Is this ordinal regression analysis? If not, what is the name of this type of analysis? Thank you very much!
Multiple linear regression
Multiple linear regression.
Please someone can help me with my regression analysis. Someone who I can have a conversation right now and ask some questions TT
You saved my ass. Thanks.
nice microphone
Good content but very poor sound quality...
can dependable variable be dummy variable?
Yes, but then you'd use logistic regression, not linear
Volume is way too low
The video quality is very poor, even we can hardly listen.
The voice over is super low .. barely hears your voice
Thank you so much!!!!
