    Taxes are crazy, rent is crazy, Boston hates cars but it's freezing 5 months a year, public transit is a mess. I can see why people would move here and then go. Why the hell would I ever stay?

    I was shocked when I got a excise bill after moving here. oh lord, they're taxing people on car while knowingly it's not even an asset as it always depreciate over time. At the same time, city seems very crowded because mbta works like 1/4 of the year. The reason why rent is so expensive is because people are forced to live in the city for work, any commute outside of boston is more than 1 hour long 1 way, which comes with a heavy parking fee before you get on a train.
    A great city if you don't look at the detail of things. A living hell for most people.

    Really sucks to grow up in the Boston metro area and dreaming of living on the city one day only to grow up and find it utterly out of reach especially with only 1 income

      because there's been no or very little new housing built. This has been going on since the 1970s and 1980s. So people have had to stretch and stretch themselves to buy something. So when you can finally buy something, it's super expensive. It's shoddy, badly kept up with things like the electrical, windows and and insulation, generally not updated. If the house you're living in has fuses check with your local fire department. This might be a fire trap, with wiring so old, that you turn on a toaster in one part of the house and a hair dryer in the other and the fuses blow.

  • @ScottH.
    @ScottH. 10 месяцев назад +23

    No worries. Healy is looking to find housing for hundreds of illegal immigrants, which will drive up the prices even further. Good job!

  • @user-mm1nt1it5v
    @user-mm1nt1it5v 10 месяцев назад +4

    Not only is it too expensive but they cant build anything to help bring down the costs. If you follow development in the region you want to pull your hair out because every single development that gets proposed is battled tooth and nail by the nimby neighbors until its either scaled back dramatically or cancelled outright. Its absolutely insane that on one hand we can be in an all time housing crisis and on the other hand people are fighting against anything being built. Theyre artificially holding down supply which explodes the prices. If worst comes to worst power needs to move away from neighborhood groups and up to the state level where everybody can vote on if we want housing built or not and if we say yes it should be as of right you meet the requirements you can build.

    I live in Lynn and the unit that I live in is $1900 but the freaking electrcity is not included and you already know with the heating bill is high. And this building is old as fuck...The noise level in this unit is horrendous. These are wood flooring and thin as f*** and the walls are hollow...I swear I see why there be so many disputes with neighbors. I mean these muthaf*** right above me don't ever leave the apartment. I just moved in here of last Nov. Definitely gonna be moving again. I prefer to renr in a private home..I don't too well in these building units. Hate living around those with bastard kids

    The Rent is too damn High!
    - High rent prices in Boston are a significant factor contributing to the potential exodus of young talent.
    - The cost of renting in the city is mentioned frequently as a major concern among residents.
    - Rent prices are cited as a primary reason for financial struggle and stress among young people.
    - Individuals express frustration over the difficulty of finding affordable housing options.
    - The high rent prices contribute to the overall perception that Boston is an expensive city to live in.
