- Hiking the Green Lakes Trail-
On August 27, 2016 my friend and I hiked the Green Lakes trail. This 11 mile hike is only 35 minutes from Bend, and is extremely popular for day hikers, as well as backpackers. On this hike you will see three Green Lakes, and from there you have access to many other trails as well. We walked all the way around the biggest of the Green Lakes and discovered its water source.

+Ramble On thank you :)
I did Todd lake to Green lakes and back last month, it was a fun alternate route with less traffic.
+BrokenToe there are so many routes to Green Lakes. I wanted to do the most popular route to review on my website.
Yeah the main route is a great hike, one of my favorite places on earth and thanks for the awesome video.
Sites like this promoting every place they go telling people to park on the hwy at a overused trailhead and writing the same thing in a web based "guide book" is one of the reasons why the whole area is going to limited permits blocking locals off from entering the wilderness, thanks for helping the overcrowding situation.
Oregon’s population has grown by 74% in the last 8 years! In addition to that, more people are becoming health conscious over the years and therefor more people are out recreating. You cannot blame me for there being more people on the trails. I have a minuscule following compared to That Oregon Life, Travel Oregon, and folks that actually work for Oregon tourism. All of these places that I write about are in books and on maps. If you’ve been following me for a while you will know that I am extremely passionate about promoting Leave No Trace, educating people on proper care for these places we all visit and cherish. I also volunteer with the Forest Service and make sure to clean up trash while hiking and backpacking out in the wilderness.
There is no "loop trail" for green lakes, please do not direct and guide people to undeveloped user trails without specifying this is cross country route and not a trail. Central Oregon Search and Rescue already has there hands full helping people who get lost while being on actual trails without misinformation about what people believe is a trail.
I got these directions from William Sullivan’s guide book. He mentions and shows on a map the trail. It’s not hard to follow, and in my write up of this hike I mention exactly where to go. It’s an open flood plain, pretty hard to get lost. But there is a trail until you get to the creek, it’s just not a trail that has a name. Then you just follow the creek to the lake.
