Lennox Lewis - Top 5 Notable Wins A quick look at the Top 5 most notable victories during the career of former heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis. www.boxing247.com/
Lennox Lewis was such a complete boxer, by this I mean he could box, brawl, smother dance, the works. He had a cargo ship full of heart and seemed to really enjoy his more difficult opponents. He was particularly scary though when he tko'd Mr Golota and frighteningly accurate against Mr V Klitschko. Great fighter, boxer and Ambassador for boxing. We salute you Mr Lewis
Braheme Days - yeah, Lewis fixed it with his right hand. Virtually zero boxing matches for world titles, between 2 prime fighters, are fixed. You couldn't pay them enough, they get too much money by winning and being champ. Get your tinfoil hat off. When Liston took a dive vs Ali, that was a fix, but Liston was finished and controlled by mobsters - they'd have shot him. Also, Manny Pacquiao vs. Lucas Matthysse, was the only obvious fix I know of - Pac-Man bought his title and Matthysse was ready for retirement, so sold it to him and fell over.
I think Golota may have actually been more mentally ill than McCall. The way he DQ himself whilst easily beating Bowe, twice, was proper madness. At least McCall was just depressed and had a death wish.
@Braheme Days If you watch the replay in slow motion you can see the shock wave from the impact going through Golota as he gets hit with Lewis's right hand. The punch he took as he was falling (the second or third 1-2 combo Lewis threw) was the most devastating punch, but it was so fast that you don't see it during regular speed.
Terrence PERKINS Tyson’s best win?? Enough of this fantasy. He is a fascinatingly entertaining fighter. But he lost every big fight he had. Stop the nonsense
He didn’t beat a prim Tyson at all and he rushed the fight when he said he needed a extra fight not prepare so Nah and Holyfield should have been 3 fights but I digress

I was thinking the exact opposite, with wins over names like Tyson, Hollyfield, Bruno, Ruddock, Briggs, Klitchko, Tua, Morrison, Mercer and Rahman, I have no idea how Rummy ranked that Golota win in the top 5.
Lennox is one of the top 5 heavyweights of all time. A great boxer, a true gentleman, he was not greedy and knew when to stop and retire with his senses and self respect intact.
Lewis and Wladimir have to be the 2 most physically gifted HWs ever. People don't respect them because their style was cerebral, not caveman vicious brawling.
Wladimir Klitschko was clever but he was also lucky - not to be significantly tested during perhaps the dullest and least competitive era in heavyweight boxing. It took Tyson Fury to expose the flaws that had been there all along - ever since the Sanders / Brewster fights. I really hope we don't end up with historical revisionist bullshit about Wlad because he was never one of the greats, on merit. He was clever, strong, flawed, and very, very damn lucky.
That was intimidating. Briggs at that time was the real deal, had serious hand speed and knock out power in both hands and Lennox ate that up and smashed him through through the ropes.
My all-time favorite boxer. Such a smart, accurate almost scientific technique of pugilism. Never ducked anyone. Went out undefeated, avenged his only two career losses. Klitchko's face looked like a bomb went off, needed 60 stitches. Destroyed Golota in 95 seconds. Put Tyson down like a mad dog. Defeated all his opposition, retired as a king. Big respect, the greatest IMO 14:40 says it all
Undefeated? He got starched TWICE in his prime by club level boxers. He was beaten on points a few times as well. I had Mercer and Holyfield 2 beating him both by a few rounds. These hick ups are completely disregarded by Lewis fan girls.
@@bfinera 100% ran for the hills, rather than give Klitschko a rematch. He was on his way to defeat in the first fight, and would have 99% lost the rematch.
Klitschko was on the verge of disaster saved from a possible KO or TKO by the surging Lewis who taking over the fight at the time of stoppage. Lennox will be more prepared for the rematch and would take care business against Vitali had that second encounter ever happened. He only had two accidental losses and he never lost a fight when everything was on the line.GOAT.
One of the most technical heavyweight boxers ever imo. He could jab your head off at range all night long, he could brawl with the best of them and he was great at dirty boxing in close. He had an awesome jab, a mean right hand and a devastating uppercut. One of the few boxers that can say he defeated every man he ever faced in the ring. Also one of the most underappreciated heavyweights in his era too. He was always one of my favourite heavyweights to watch fight.
Yep, he always adapted his style to win, sometimes spectacular sometimes not, but he found a way to win. The win against Tua where he nutralised one of the most feared hooks in the business being a case in point.
"Destroyed" it's a bit exaggerated. Even recognizing that he could have won both fights to Holyfield (the other great boxer of the decade) he was not even close to "destroying him." He earn more rounds than Evander and nothing more.
He destroyed Ruddock, Briggs, Morrison, Golota, Grant, Botha, Rahman and Tyson. Dominated It's and Holyfield twice.Lewis just knows how to win in anyway possible so masterful.
He improved under Emmanuel Steward. He seen him on May 6 1994 against Phil Jackson. He won but was very one dimensional. The next fight Sept 24 he was stopped in 2 rounds by Oliver McCall. The Lewis that defeated Holyfield in 1999 was superior to the 1994 Lewis.
@@geoff9861 your wrong , Tyson ducked Lewis. Tyson was supposed to fight Lewis years earlier but Tyson paid Lewis 6 million not to fight him in his prime.
LOL clueless. Lewis was nearly 38 and should have retired before, let alone having a pointless rematch. Vitali was only winning, slightly, on the cards because he was going for a KO, because he knew the cuts would stop him. Vitaly was actually gassing too by the end. 100% correct stoppage. You can't win on points if you've already lost by TKO due to Lewis inflicting 60 stitches worth of horrific cuts. These are actual facts. Still bitter? Lennox was the actual greatest, not Ali (who was 3 stone lighter).
I replace holmes with lewis Ali Marciano Foreman Joe Lewis But holyfield even with his losses was a true warrier never ducked anyone. Lewis reach and heigh advantage gave him control over holyfield.bowe should hv fought lewis after holyfield first fight if it happend it could hd been fight of 90s .
Out of curiosity can you tell me 4 HWs better than him ? For sure, Lewis would have smashed Ali to bits there can be no doubt of that. LL was a freak HW with power hand speed and technically excellent.
Excellent fighter and I really appreciated his training regiment. So many big men would come to a fight in less than fight ready shape. Lennox Lewis was always ready. The Briggs fight was a "slobber knocker."
He is the best all around heavyweight and could have beaten any HW from any era in my opinion. Genius fight IQ 6’5 and fast with long reach Textbook jab Technically sound defense Could win a dogfight if needed Equally adept at winning via early KO or picking someone apart.
@@cade9173 40 pound weight advantage, 6 inch reach advantage... definitely skill to boost that size, so yeah... you can definitely argue he could beat ali.
I agree with his win over Golota, it is very underrated, the same thing goes for his win over Briggs which is actually equally as impressive, nobody has beaten Briggs like Lennox did and Vitali tried everything against Briggs who was also having athsma issues throughout his fight with Vitali. I would rank both of those fights within the top 5. Lennox was in my opinion the best heavyweight boxer of all time, his style wouldve surely been the kryptonite for Ali in his prime, a thinking man with huge KO power and also the heart and ferocity of a lion, you simply cannot beat that.
You're saying it like Vitali didnt have any chance against briggs and tried everything to beat him but Vitali was using briggs as a heavybag for the whole fight. Not his fault that he cant punch as hard as his brother
Ali is unbeatable boy, he can take shots all night long from liston, foreman, shavers, frazier or any other hw that ever lived. Dont forget that Ali's ring IQ was insane and miles better than lewis's
Bang Daddy Actually, you don’t know that for certain. It’s just your subjective opinion: Don’t confuse Ali’s movement for superior ring craft or ring IQ. Lewis’ ring craft was at least the equal of Ali, and IMHO, only Foreman’s was better in the history of heavyweight boxing. But Lewis has everything needed to beat all-comers, including Foreman and Ali. If you watch Lewis carefully, however, you’ll see just how technical he is, and how efficiently he closes off angles and stalks his opponent (only Foreman was better at this). Lewis was up there with Shavers and Foreman for KO power, too. The difference is his ring IQ, timing on his punches, and the fact he really could hurt anyone who stepped into the ring with him - from either hand and with any punch, but especially his left uppercut and left lead jab-straight right/overhand combination. In my view, he’s the best there has ever been taken on his merits as a heavyweight, and as a boxer, as well as his actual record. Doesn’t stop Ali from being The Greatest, but that’s to include other reasons beyond what he achieved as a boxer.
@@SuperPeterok Ali avenged 3 of those losses. The 2 that he didn't avenge was when he had symptoms of Parkinson's. Also the Berbick fight was very close.
@@SuperPeterok you're wrong there 5 losses in 60+ fights isnt bad and lost to great fighters 2 being having parkinsons. Not to mention he beat some of the greatest fighters such as Frazier, Foreman, Liston, Norton etc
Lewis is second to Ali look at the heavyweights Lewis beat: - Mike Tyson - Evander Holyfield - David Tua - Micheal Grant - Shannon Briggs - Andrew Golota - Ray Mercer - Tommy Morrison - Hasim Rahman - Frank Bruno - Razor Ruddock - Vitali Klitschko - Francois Botha
He cleaned up the whole division, he faught anyone, any place at anytime. 100% agree Lewis is one of the all time greatest. In fact, even now he could clean up the division. He was one of the most intelligent boxers and the last of the greats.
It took people 17 years to start recognizing just how damn good this man actually was. Easily top 5 HW of all time. (I rate him as 3rd behind Ali and Joe Lewis) Hard puncher Solid chin Fast and light on his feet His defense was solid High level of dexterity and hand eye coordination (this dude had an insane hit rate for punches thrown and landed - very accurate and knew when to throw a good punch) Tall with a long reach and calculated aggression would of made him extremely intimidating to be in the ring with. I grew up watching him, rated him throughout his career and was bewildered why he was all but forgotten after. I am certainly glad that now, after 17 or so years since his retirement, that people are starting to recognize just how good he actually was. Him and Klitschko are my favourite boxers of all time and i rate him above Klitschko because he had fights in a much more competitive HW division than Klitschko.
Hopkins was boring and dominated a poor middleweight era - a bit like Pavlik, but not that bad, he was just huge and beat bums - yet never dare fight the super middleweights, who'd have exposed him, despite being taller than all of them. Winky Wright & Andre Ward were much better, they were true greats.
Another quality video! This is my favorite boxing channel on youtube. Have you ever thought about making a video on Jerry Quarry? I'd love to hear you tell his epic but tragic life story.
LOL - how was it debunked Kirk? Everyone knows the Wlad era was terrible - that's why no one watched it and he was based in Germany, not USA, and only Joshua & Wilder have reignited interest in the division - although its still poor. Wlad still managed to lose to fighters who were never seen again. He even lost to Fury, who's the most technically inept, weakest puncher in history. Wlad wasn't as good as Vitali and Vitali lost to a past it Lewis. Wlad would only have been a decent contender in the '90s. He tactically made the most of his attributes though, versus bums, like Fury uses his huge height and reach well and jabs and runs. Everyone but you knows this - "Casual" - LOL says casuals who don't agree with known reality.
I've been watching a lot of boxing videos the past couple weeks and I've made this same comment before. The 90's were a really great time for boxing and the era that I truly was a fan and watched it religiously with my brother. Jones, Hopkins, Barrera, Lewis, Bowe, Old Foreman, Mosley, Klitschko. Hamed as well, even though I hated him, I watched all of his fights hoping someone would finally put an end to it. Barrera did, thank God. A real end as well. I've really migrated over to MMA now, but 90's boxing holds some of my favorite memories.
He doesn’t get nearly enough credit. One of the most complete heavyweights in history. He was adept at boxing at range and fighting on the inside when necessary
He doesn't get credit because he fought in an era where heavyweight boxing was past it's prime. They were milking a past his prime tyson, hyping up Michael grants, desperately trying whatever they could do to bring/restore excitement. Not saying it's Lewis's fault, but he just isn't that guy because he fought in a post-apocalyptic era where the belt wasn't relevant like it used to be
Post-apocalyptic? I'm sure I would have remembered the apocalypse. LOL, Lewis's era was arguably the strongest ever. Ali's era was barely professional. Tyson, Holyfield and Bowe should still have been his opponents if they hadn't have ducked or become unprofessional and faded - as I assume you're only thinking of those Americans. Holyfield was a great cruiserweight and could only compete at HW due to a huge amount of PEDs.
@@austinlittke5580 that's daft talk. Who were all these greats that Tyson fought in his era? Who were all the greats that the Klitschkos rolled over in their era? Tyson paid money to avoid fighting Lewis; Chicken Bowe threw a title away rather than fight him in the pro ranks after being beat up at the olympics. Tyson eventually fought him and got beat up, Holyfield fought him and got beat up. Klitschko got 60 stitches for the pleasure. He fought everyone in his era and to be honest dominated for 10 years. His only two losses he was winning on the cards, and he avenged them comfortably.
@@austinlittke5580 1990's is the strongest era in heavyweight history you moron. You had Morrison, Tua, Holyfeild, Briggs, Bowe, Foreman, Tyson, Rudduck, Bruno, Ibeachui, Mercer, Moorer etc ect and Lewis beat pretty much all of them giving him one of the best resumes in heavyweight history. the only guy i can think of with a better resume at heavyweight is Ali.
@@austinlittke5580 you do realise that Lewis was fully active during that period of time you're talking about, he was being ducked and dived his whole career. That whole situation with Bowe essentially symbolizes the issue with Lewis's career - nobody wanted to fight him. Not the actual boxers themselves but the trainers behind the boxers. The people who have been treating boxing like a game of chess and have mastered all the angles, styles and methods to approach each situation. Those people avoided having their fighters face Lewis until it became unavoidable and even then you see what happens when a fighter has enough of his own sense to know what he'd be upagainst facing Lewis, you see a belt get thrown in the bin. Most trainers and managers didn't want anything to do with Lewis because he was a freak. Tall Strong Fast Long reach Hard punch Hard chin How the hell do you prepare to fight someone like that?
Excellent video, as a Lewis fan, nice to see his achievements recognized. I know it was tough against Vitali, but Lennox got the win and had the sense to retire and go out on a win and preserve his record.
Lewis vs Mercer would definitely be in my top 5. That fight was brutal, and Lewis really had to work hard to earn a slim margin of victory against a game and "Merciless" Ray Mercer.
Excellent video and great fight calls. I was very impressed with Vitali Klitschko. I thought at any moment he would KO Lewis and Lewis seemed to be getting tired. Emmanuel Stewart brought out the best in Lewis, but he brought out the best in each of his fighters. He was a very gifted trainer. Thanks, Rummy! Enjoyed it.
My list goes: 1. Ali 2. Lewis 3. Holyfield 4. Bowe 5. Tua Right now I have my reasons for Mike Tyson not being on the list. There is no mistaking his skill and power, but his resume was very weak and it is rather overrated. I can't name 5 great boxers he defeated, maybe an old Spinks and Frank Bruno. Those are arguably his best wins. I would have had Tyson Fury placed at 2, and for good reason too. But his career is not near over. I can't exactly place a man in my top 5 heavyweight list if he has only had 28 fights.
Tend to agree on the Golota win as it was so unexpectedly quick. Whilst there seemed to be even expectations on a Lewis win it was expected to take 8 rounds or more if not go the whole distance. For Lewis to Despatch Golota so easily was astonishing at the time and the last thing anyone expected. Pity he never got to fight Bowe. That would have been a very interesting battle which I think Lewis would have won on his technical abilities, but, boxing is never predictable is it....
Rumor has it that Golota had a injured shoulder and took lidocaine for the pain. It's supposedly made him feel loopy and he wasn't near at his best. Great win for Lewis no doubt. As Golota superfan it was just another big disappointment.
The difference between Bowe and Lewis was raw power. Both evenly matched and technically gifted fighters, but Lennox had that X factor power that would have put Bowe away.
Great vid rummy 90s heavyweight division had so much depth Definitely one of the all time greats, not one of my favourites but you have to respect what Lewis achieved
Excellent tape. He has to be the best heavyweight champion of all time who defeated the most competitive top contenders heavyweights ever. Definitely the last and best great heavyweight thus far.
The Klitchko fight was one of those rare occurences when an underwhelming main event falls through and gets replaced by an infinitely more intriguing contest. People forget that Lewis was the betting underdog in his rematch with Rachman.
LOL and poor zero stamina, zero chin, Joshua suffered from this rare event badly vs Fatso Ruiz. Served him and Eddie right for ducking the Wilder fight for easier paydays. Although, judging by his lack of conditioning they made a wise move in ducking him.
Wilder turned down 100 million dollars from dazn, gave no reason. He never fought wladimir either. Its difficult to say who ducked who, but I'd say wilder ducked tougher fighters than aj
Don't understand the comments about Lennox being underrated but maybe that was the U.S. perspective where they probably prefer all out relentless aggression to Lennox's sometimes lazy looking on-and-off pace. Here in the UK he was never underrated, especially after beating Frank Bruno he was big news here. But he definitely knew his time was up when he met Klitschko, and didn't ride his luck for a rematch after the chance cut stoppage. The rematch would have been massive, and Klitschko deserved it, but personally I'm glad Lennox turned it down and chose retirement instead. Great champions deserve to go out on a high.
Lennox Louis was no joke. He beat every man he ever fought even the ones who beat him. Even though there are better he deserves to be seen as one of the greatest boxers ever
Nice show, great stuff by Lennox the only one in the hall of fame from the UK. Been to Ceasars Palace and seen the list. Well done Lennox a true champ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always pull for my fellow American fighters, but to deny Lennox's accomplishments and abilities is simply ignorant. One of the most impressive heavyweight champions and possibly one of the best heavyweight resumes of all time.
Lennox Lewis might well be the greatest heavyweight of all time.Head-to-head I just cant see anybody beating the peak Lennox Lewis.Great, great fighter.
Lennox seems like a really great guy and unlike a lot of other folks, I don't hold his safety-first style against him nor his decision to retire without settling things with Klitschko; I wouldn't begrudge anyone for getting out of the game with as much of their health as they can. But I just have a difficult time ranking him up there with the best of the division like Ali, Marciano, Louis, and even Holyfield. Looking back, he spent most of the 90's fighting on the periphery of the division. Of the recognized champions of that decade, he never managed to get in the ring with Foreman, Moorer, or Bowe and he didn't fight for the legitimate championship until he unseated a past-his-prime Holyfield in late '99. By the time he fought Tyson in 2002, Mike was six years removed from his last title reign. Lewis was most assuredly the best of his era, I just think it would be more accurate to consider that era as having been from 2000-2003. The defeats he suffered to mid-card opponents like McCall and Rahaman during his fighting prime are also blemishes on his legacy that shouldn't be glossed over. You just won't find those type of losses to lower caliber fighters on the championship records of the all-time Greats whom I mentioned above. Also, legitimatewon't press that issue for now lol) No disrespect to those fighters but they are not looked back at now as having been the elite of the division. Lennox was a solid champion and a real gentleman who had more heart than many fans of my era gave him credit for. I would definitely consider him a top-10 Heavyweight somewhere in the second-tier behind Foreman, Tyson and Frazier. I'm looking forward to some constructive criticism and feedback (This being RUclips, it will likely be more like "Terranova ur a idiot" lol) Also, Rummy can you make some more Sopranos videos?
The Greatest Of All Time. Fullstop. ...Was 2" taller and 3 stone heavier than Ali, before anyone starts believing Ali's self-proclaimed 'Greatest' nonsense - was barely better than tiny Joe Frazier. Plus, the '90s was the most dangerous era, with loads of roidheads, good fighters, with huge speed and power.
Great video, man, really enjoyed it. For me, of course, I'd order them differently if you're asking about 'most impressive' wins 1. Vitali - because this was a first-class, prime Vitali with only a few miles on the clock. TKO6 was not only the REAL fight between the two best on the planet, it was Lewis' swan song, where it was all against him and he rose to the challenge in the 3rd round, turned that fight around, and beat the man who would go on to be king. It's also maybe the most exciting heavyweight fight I've ever seen (AJ v Wlad?). 2. Holyfield - 24 rounds and one clear winner, against the guy they said was the best. 3. Tua - prime Tua dismantled. 'The President' Ibeabuchi had a war with this guy, Holyfield wouldn't face him. Lewis was immaculate in victory. Total dominance. 4. Golota - They said he was the best. Lewis ironed him out. 5. Rahman - vengeance is rarely punctuated so brutally. The first fight was a freak KO - the second was a KO fit for a king. 6. Ruddock - Again they said he was the best. Again, Lewis folded him up like a deckchair. 7. Tucker - Over 49 fights, he'd only lost a decision to Tyson. In his 50th, he got an absolute lesson over 12 rounds, going down twice. One of the forgotten fights, but a barnstormer. 8. Tyson - Tyson was done. Lewis stuck a fork in him. But they said he couldn't, they said he was scared, they said Tyson was the man. All that stuff about Tyson being past-it came after he fell to the bigger, better fighter. Also, it is rarely mentioned: Lewis was older than Tyson. 9. Mercer - great fighter, great fight, in a phone booth in New York. A clash of Gold medalists and legitimately the closest decision of Lewis' career. I had it 5-4-1 Lewis. So important for his career that he got through this one. 10. Bruno - Big for his UK profile, though watching him pummel Frank was like watching your brother cop a beating off your dad. We respected him more, but I'm not sure many liked him better afterwards. But, in terms of 'notable' wins, I'd probably have to agree with you.
" Lewis was older than Tyson." Does not matter. 1. Tall big fighters have longer careers. 2. Prime is not just about age. It's also wear and tear, personal life, drugs, etc. 3. Some people mature earlier/later than others. Tyson clearly in that category of early developer. 4. A small fighter like Tyson has to be young, 100% fit and 100% training to beat bigger fighters because the style to beat big fighters takes lot's of movement. Big guys like Lennox often look bored in the ring. They just casually lean back to avoid punches. Then unleash some semi-fast punches with lot's of power in them. Tyson has to come at you like a freight train, bobbing and weaving, angles, good balance even after punches, then turn on a dime to deliver body punches.
@@Skovgaard1975 Lewis could be very entertaining at times, i particulary love watching his wars against Vitali, Briggs, Mercer, Bruno, and Holyfield and his dismantling of Grant, Rahman 2, Golota and Ruddock.
His greatness was not fully appreciated during his career. At the time his persona probably puzzled a lot of Americans but he was bigger, faster, more skilled and more than mean enough. In retrospect he sought out and defeated all legitimate contenders in a dominant fashion. He reached the absolute apex and remains the last man to do so 20 years later. Lennox Lewis is surely one of the very greatest heavyweight champions in the history of boxing.

Top 5, that's strong. Not saying I have an argument against it.
He left the sport with 41 wins, one draw and just two defeats, both avenged. He also left the sport as the King, the last great heavyweight.
That 'draw' was a robbery

Loved the way Lewis laughed at Briggs after taking some good shots...and then showing him some good shots of his own!
That was intimidating. Briggs at that time was the real deal, had serious hand speed and knock out power in both hands and Lennox ate that up and smashed him through through the ropes.
i like that too..Lennox had bombs of his own..Briggs was a brawler but Lennox was a boxer supreme
Let's go champ....
it was almost scary lol
Everybody saying Lennox had a glas chin should watch this scene.
Big respect, the greatest IMO 14:40 says it all
Actually he ducked Vitali for a rematch and then retired. Yep fact
@@bfinera not really a duck if he met him once. Fact
Klitschko was on the verge of disaster saved from a possible KO
or TKO by the surging Lewis who taking over the fight at the time of stoppage. Lennox will be more prepared for the rematch and would take care business against Vitali had that second encounter ever happened. He only had two accidental losses and he never lost a fight when everything was on the line.GOAT.
Strong, tall, intelligent and damned patient - his timing was impeccable, and so cool. Masterful
One of the best heavyweights of all time
Lennox is my favorite heavyweight of all time.
Best of a great era in Heavyweight boxing and one of the greatest of all time.
The best heavyweight of the modern era
Hated him when I was young & dumb .. I appreciate him now that I'm older & wiser (about the sport).
Why the hell would you hate this humble man?
theres honesty
Same here bro
Why did you hate him
@@SuperPeterok I think a lot of Americans did because of his rivalry with mike Tyson
The rematch against Rahman should definitly be in the top 5.

Lennox was just incredible. The division in his day was stacked with phenomenal boxers! Lennox destroyed them all with class.
You sound like your high on drugs. Lewis sucked.
"Destroyed" it's a bit exaggerated. Even recognizing that he could have won both fights to Holyfield (the other great boxer of the decade) he was not even close to "destroying him." He earn more rounds than Evander and nothing more.
Ezequiel Barranco Holyfield was not the other great he was a peds using cheat

He destroyed Ruddock, Briggs, Morrison, Golota, Grant, Botha, Rahman and Tyson. Dominated It's and Holyfield twice.Lewis just knows how to win in anyway possible so masterful.
The best heavyweight in history right there, very much underrated. Lenox
The best heavyweight is Ali but Lewis is great
Lennox was incredibly talented! A natural boxer with a lionheart! The BEST of his time for sure!
excellent what a way to start the day over here in the uk, cheers.
@Lewis Glabush History books will show he was from the UK though.
He was born in the east end
London Town in the house!
Lewis Glabush he only represented Canada in the olympics cause he couldn’t represent GB
Lewis Glabush how so?
Lennox is always in my top 5 heavyweights. You really have to give credit to emmanuel steward as well. His list of trained fighters is insane.
Great video Rummy. Lennox was a great champion. Shame on Boe for never fighting him. An underrated great Lennox
Yeah but had Lewis beaten McCall, Bowe was next, that's what people forget that the fight was actually going to happen.
Great boxer and doesn't get the respect he deserves. He took them all on didn't dodge anyone and battered all of them
He ducked Tyson in his prime then done him after Tyson had done his self!!!!!!
Fucking hell Briggs was once young
Geoff Barnard Tyson ducked Prime Holyfield, Prime Lewis, Morrison, Mercer, Moorer, Foreman, and Prime Briggs lol
@@geoff9861 your wrong , Tyson ducked Lewis. Tyson was supposed to fight Lewis years earlier but Tyson paid Lewis 6 million not to fight him in his prime.
Yep. It's no wonder Riddick Bowe didn't want this smoke.
I rank Lewis as a top 5 HW boxer of all time.
@mudshark jones vitaly won 2 rounds, lewis only had 2 weeks prep and was not in shape and still caused serious damage, and won the fight
Lennox was the actual greatest, not Ali (who was 3 stone lighter).
mudshark jones the fight was stopped not for Lennox but for vitally, therefore he won. Get over it.
I replace holmes with lewis
Ali
Marciano
Foreman
Joe
Lewis
But holyfield even with his losses was a true warrier never ducked anyone.
Very enjoyable video, thanks. Brought back a lot of good memories, as I was a huge fan of Lennox. Watched all his fights
Most underrated heavyweight ever. One of my top favorite fighters of all time. Jab and right hand are in top categories bar bone
I grew up watching him with my dad.. He is the only Heavyweight I ever liked. He has class and and very skillful.
Genius fight IQ
6’5 and fast with long reach
Textbook jab
Technically sound defense
Could win a dogfight if needed
Equally adept at winning via early KO or picking someone apart.
it's a shame that Him and Big George didn't face each other.. that fight was my dream
Cant dissagree...shame about todays heavyweights.
He is not beating Ali lmfao
@@cade9173 40 pound weight advantage, 6 inch reach advantage... definitely skill to boost that size, so yeah... you can definitely argue he could beat ali.
Lennox had a glas chin fought old jobers😂
I agree with his win over Golota, it is very underrated, the same thing goes for his win over Briggs which is actually equally as impressive, nobody has beaten Briggs like Lennox did and Vitali tried everything against Briggs who was also having athsma issues throughout his fight with Vitali.
I would rank both of those fights within the top 5.
Lennox was in my opinion the best heavyweight boxer of all time, his style wouldve surely been the kryptonite for Ali in his prime, a thinking man with huge KO power and also the heart and ferocity of a lion, you simply cannot beat that.
Briggs couldn't even breathe after round 1 with lewis
Gat damn. About time I found someone who agrees he would be kryptonite for Ali. Greatest blend of weapons/tools, and kept getting better.
Lennox is a BEAST. My favorite heavyweight of all time.
The greatest of all time in my opinion, what a record look at them names

This video was well put together. You definitely know boxing
Canned Whoop anemal
It took people 17 years to start recognizing just how damn good this man actually was.
Easily top 5 HW of all time. (I rate him as 3rd behind Ali and Joe Lewis)
Hard puncher
Solid chin
Fast and light on his feet
His defense was solid
High level of dexterity and hand eye coordination (this dude had an insane hit rate for punches thrown and landed - very accurate and knew when to throw a good punch)
Tall with a long reach and calculated aggression would of made him extremely intimidating to be in the ring with.
Thats about where I rate Lennox as well bro.Lewis definitely one of the 3 greatest heavyweights of all time.
Love it he & bernard hopkins never get talked about much but were so dominant in thier reigns
Too much brain, smart boxer. Perfect complete fighter.
I forgot just how good this guy was! Truly a master of his craft.

Lewis is such an under-rated fighter.
Proud To Be British 🇬🇧😎
I've been watching a lot of boxing videos the past couple weeks and I've made this same comment before. The 90's were a really great time for boxing and the era that I truly was a fan and watched it religiously with my brother. Jones, Hopkins, Barrera, Lewis, Bowe, Old Foreman, Mosley, Klitschko. Hamed as well, even though I hated him, I watched all of his fights hoping someone would finally put an end to it. Barrera did, thank God. A real end as well. I've really migrated over to MMA now, but 90's boxing holds some of my favorite memories.
Rummy nails it again. I have no argument with his assessment of - IMHO - the GOAT.
Lewis is still underrated. One of the best
Didn't win against holyfield twice . holyfield wasn't hurt .a question mark about Lewis as a puncher

Enjoyed it.

Lewis is very underrated, imo hes in the top 5 heavyweights ever.
My list goes:

2. Lewis
3. Holyfield
4. Bowe
5. Tua
Right now I have my reasons for Mike Tyson not being on the list.

Lennox was fantastic at boxing 🥊 always a pleasure to watch.👍
Excellent video. Very punchy. Had me smiling at his skills and I’d forgotten how he remedied both losses. Keep it up.

I would Love to agree with you but, I have to say
Mick Tyson at his Peak, would have

His fight with Klitschko is a true classic

Great video, man, really enjoyed it.
For me, of course, I'd order them differently if you're asking about 'most impressive' wins
"Ruddock - Again they said he was the best."
Unless we are talking about Tyson, then suddenly Ruddock sucks !!! :)
" Lewis was older than Tyson."
Does not matter.
Lennox Lewis favorite HW fighter
His greatness was not fully appreciated during his career. At the time his persona probably puzzled a lot of Americans but he was bigger, faster, more skilled and more than mean enough. In retrospect he sought out and defeated all legitimate contenders in a dominant fashion. He reached the absolute apex and remains the last man to do so 20 years later. Lennox Lewis is surely one of the very greatest heavyweight champions in the history of boxing.
