Memoria Absentia

In her project, Memoria Absentia, the artist Agata Stępień explores the theme of memories hidden by the mind, creating a metaphor of paintings buried in a Tuscan olive grove. She wanders the grove reflecting on her own buried memories, some happy, some sad, some painful. The experience is made real for those present by the physical effort involved in finding and excavating the lost paintings, which are then revealed in her exhibition.
