What a great car, hope you had years of fun out of it, with more to come. A number of people say the stuff from the 60's was not made well, but I disagree, these pieces work the way they should, even after 71 years! Thanks and enjoy. Brian
Remember seeing one of them in action last month in a train exhibition. It quietly incredible that a 60 years old car still in working condition. The person had also the missile car that was also in action.
Yeah, we should not be afraid to use the trains we have, they are well built and so much fun to operate. This is was a fun video to make for that reason! Thanks, Brian
Great video Brian! Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for all of the research you and your team do to make these extremely complete and interesting.
The space and military offerings are some of the most fun pieces in my opinion. I know Joshua Cowen was never a fan but for the time I think it was worth keeping a boy’s imagination running wild.
For Sure, even though the pieces were fragile by today's standards, the engineering that went into them is fascinating. And they work still today! Thanks. Brian
Thanks Brian nice video! Lionel space and rockets are not my cup of tea but an important part of Lionel history. They were trying everything to stay afloat. The hand writing was on the wall and LIonels days were numbered.
Yeah, that is what makes this hobby so great, everyone collects and operates what they like!. The space and military items are really cool and fun to operate! Thanks for the note! Brian
Awesome as usual Brian! I finally got one of these satellite cars a few years ago in perfect shape, and is a favorite of mine in the space and military era of Lionel. Excellent video Brian! Tom
Hey James, I will be there most of the week. Thanks, glad you liked the videos. Got myself a shirt with "BriansTrainRoom" on it. Keep an eye out!. Brian
Lionel often used prototypes for the artwork in the catalogues. That is why many of the items shown are of non standard colors and items planned but never actually produced.
Cool! Those are fun cars, for sure. I have on HO version, that I got in a box of trains and slot cars. I wonder how many satellites and copters survived for any length of time. They were certainly somewhat fragile. Either way, neat cars. An excellent video, as always.
Thanks, yeah the attrition rate on the helicopter and satellites was high. Too bad they never offered them for separate sale, would have been a cool box to collect!!!! Glad you enjoyed it. Brian.
Back when Lionel knew how to pack a lot of 'play value' into their trains! Love the detail you put into these videos of yours. One detail I myself (and a few others I'm sure) have been curious about in a number of your videos is those beautiful backdrops of yours. Where on earth did you get them? They're vaguely reminiscent of the post-war Lionel catalog illustrations. They lend so well to your dealer-layout-esque layout and it's aesthetic.
Thanks, the backdrops I believe are Life-like, but might be ConCor. They are unmarked, but bought at a train show and they do a great job of adding depth to the shots. Thanks, Brian
Hi, not really into selling and reselling, but feel free to reach out at brianstrainroom@gmail.com and I can give you some guidance on selling. If you have something really cool, we can talk!. Thank you. Brian
Hi Brian, received the satellite launching car (green version) as a young boy. Still have it today, now 71 years old. Thanks for sharing!

That is why the Space and Military stuff is so popular, fun to collect and operate ! Thanks,Brian
Great stuff Brian, never knew the history of that car. The one from the TV show was cool!
Yes, I would love to get my hands on that satellite from the show. It was really early, late 1960 with the actual car coming out in 1961! Cool stuff
Really good job brian. Hope to meet you in york.

Yeah, love the postwar years for that reason, so much stuff to glean from the catalogs and fun to show a car that matches up!
Thanks, Brian
@@BriansTrainRoom The prototypes are out there. Congrats on scoring one!
The fellow in the video was Dave Garroway. He used to be on the Today show way back when.
Yeah, you are so right, I miswrote it and did not get that corrected in time. Thank you. Brian
excellent video , i love it.
Thank you, another fun one to film. Love the old TV shows and Commercials. Really drawn to the oddball stuff out there!. Glad you like it. Brian

Great , thanks for the info.
You are welcome! Brian
That’s a really fun car… the Space and Military products are fascinating, but many are very fragile. Thanks so much for showing this one.
Thanks, fun video for me as well. Took a few takes to get the slow motion satellite shot! Old ads are so cool as well. Brian
Great video, as usual! I've got the HO version of that car. By the way, That clip was from the Dave Garroway Show, not Garrison.👍
Yeah, I did show the HO version of the car, it uses the same satellite. Totally messed up is his name. You are correct. Brian
Great video as always. At the time i am watching this i am constructing a 3349 turbo missile car from different ebay purchases.
Also a great action car. Fun to shoot at stuff with!. B
