India lucky to have CNR Rao. Wish India produced more such people. Government of India should spend more on Research and Development. It should open one IISC in every single state of India.

India has opened 7 IISERs as of 2019 with the sole goal for science research. They are equivalent to IISc. Hope more will come up.

A man who studied in Kannada medium till SSLC speaks so fluently in English. He has been awarded with the highest Civilian award Bharatha Ratna and more than sixty Universities across the world have conferred Hon. Doctorate on him. Parents of young children should understand that merely admitting their children in private donation oriented English medium schools is of no use.

Why he is comparing Science with Cricket, it's completely irrelevant. Why he will be Sachin Tendulkar and whatever it is...he is already C.N.R. Rao. He is father of Material Science in India.
People of India has only have sence about bollywood and cricket, they don't understand that Sciences is over all these fu*king and cheep things.
The ideal example anyone can give to Sachin Tendulkar is that " you are CNR Rao of cricket. People of India don't know about a Scientist struggles. Scientists like him and APJ Kalam has given whole life to country.

Congratulations Professor Rao. This definitely is not the place to share anybody's thoughts other than Professor CNR Rao's. I wonder how many aggressive indian scientists who are trained in western world feel oppressed by many old folks in the indian science community with their traditional beliefs and practice of science. I am sure many enthusiasts would wonder if india could ever win a nobel prize?. We might get a clearer picture if we carefully analyze the scientific contributions of Prof.Rao's students who are faculties at various institutions across the country.

I mean really saddening to see CNR Rao win BR and not SN Bose. Bose is by far THE greatest physicist India has ever given birth to and maybe the greatest scientific mind of India.
He (CNR Rao) deserves BR for his work but so does SN Bose.

absolutely , Prof . Satyendranath Bose truly deserves it . He is truly the best scientific mind of India . He even deserves the Nobel Prize for his work on Bose statistics ,as it totally changed the world of quantum statistics . But , half of the particles of the universe , are named after him , BOSONS .
This really made him immortal , in the world of physics .

Dear Prof. after all 160 PhD students and more than 1000 papers, can you precisely conclude your contribution in comparison to JC Bose (To whom you compare with Guglielmo Marconi) and SN Bose (Bose-Einstein condensate and many more) who has not received Bharat Ratna. In fact these two are contributed enough to get Nobel Prize. Yes I can say you have involved in Indian Politics and key person to bring new Institutes to India but more than that Homi Bhabha has made for the country, still he is not in the list of Bharat Ratna.

    • @MrTanmoyHacker

Actually he was talking about the size of an atom photographed by the machine which was one tenth of angstrom. So technically he was saying 10^-9 cm as the capability of the machine and not about the conversion from 1 anstrom to cm. He is a well known scientist, he'll not put his brain in those tiny thoughts.
