Also, you say you prefer using the dual bass wah, what would you say the big difference is, because I might consider buying that one since it is a lot cheaper. Is it just simply a bass wah or does it have its own kick to it?
@@TimmyTicklson huge kick...not only PBA keeps the low end way better(especially due to my usual 'bass specific chain')...but the 'funk mode'(or only 'voice' on older version: PBA1 fully blue pedal 'Pro Series II Bass Wah') which i use with TS9B(bass screamer) for Cliff stuff is the only modern day Morley that has that bwooOOOOooaaah like Tel Ray PWB you know...it has a real power to it...and it has a fairly strong boost(level control adds much more gain than the one on PWF1) and just sounds so much better and real to my ears...and doesnt struggle in producing audiable wah sweeps even in lowest notes PWF sounds very thin and trebly compared to it, but it worked well in this scenario here because i used guitar TS9 and a bass with a very bright bridge pickup(but i believe any morley would do pretty well in this case)
@@TimmyTicklson what other gear do you use? That might help me figure out which pedal might be better for you...cos PBA can even be 'too much' sometimes if used with some harsh distortions etc
So I use all behringer pedals cause I'm cheap and still in high school, lol. Tube screamer, compresser sustainer, a super fuzz, and a digital multi fx pedal, all from behringer. Then I have a classic morley 20/20 wah. Then a fender 10g amp. My bass is 80$. 😂 But, I usually have the compresser first, then the fuzz over it, but I have it over to the boost setting since the fuzz is way to much. Then the wah, then the tube screamer, and then the digital fx, either for delay, or for the lyceum tone. That typically gets me a good tone, but the feedback from it all is HORRIBLE. I'm hoping to find a wah that'll get me a good boost so that maybe I don't have to put a bunch of pedals behind it to make it sound good. If there's anything you would change lemme know 👍
@@Josh-o yeah it makes life easier...but somehow its a more tangiable sound when you hear it through all analog rig so its worth a hassle sometimes :D thanks man!
perfect! i wanted to recreate cliff burton lead tone too, but unfortunately these morley fuzz wahs are quite expensive and hard to find in my country :( maybe there are some vst plugin recreations of it, and glad to see you came back
@@kixmilesofficial i know man..here in Croatia too...i won this one in a Riff Life competition...but like i said...i actually prefer Morley Dual Bass Wah.. if you can find that one(they are no longer produced but maybe used one like i did) they are usually cheaper and really great(check out my other videos to hear it in action...and you'll need a compressor or a booster and some overdrive(tube like) with it ...delay helps if you want atmospheric sound like this :)
@@kixmilesofficial or get a digital processor(i guess you are okay with that since you mention plugins) some like Zoom B1x4 and get a Morley wah(any Morley will work good with digital emulators, analog gear is different...so get a cheapest morley you can find..potentially switchless cos it helps a lot not having to turn it on and off) and then just add 'pedals' and 'amps' from the processor as you like(it surely has Tube Screamer and Boss compressor or something simmilar built in)

@@TheBigShow999 yeah i've eyeballed that one for a while but gave up...it had all the right ingredients...bridge pickup seems to be in quite the right place as well AND knowing proBucker 760 sound in the bridge position(as i owned Embassy bass in the photo, which has two of them) it sounds like a 'humbucker version of Jazz pickup'(if you recall Cliff had hot stack/humbucking Jazz by Seymour Duncan)...so it seems to work well...but...upper fret access necessary for Cliff's lead licks is out of equation, downright horrible...and a lot of people reported something about pickups not being in phase when they are used together so it just doesnt sound the way it could/should...mudbucker on its own wont cut it...for example i also own SG bass...and its a simmilar configuration, mudbucker in the neck and some mini humbucker in the bridge...but in case of SG mini humbucker is way too close to bridge(compared to rickenbacker bridge pickup position) so it still doesnt give the real Cliffenbacker tone(that said i've got SG for other stuff not Cliff related but still)...Newport had it all but somehow screwed it i am afraid...i did not try it out so i cant verify but it seemed to have too much flaws for my taste so i skipped it after listening to many videos of it and i could not really find 'cliff tone' in any of that(i happen to know exactly how the cliffenbacker sounds like so i knew what to look for even with clean tones)

You get to sound like kea/ride but cant play anesthesia, ktulu or bells for example...so there's that

@@Farewelltokingz i do, my fav amp to date especially with this cab...i also used ashdown 410 sounded great too...but its a clean head...clipping is rather harsh, thin and not really meant to be used musically, so i prefer not to push it too far...better use another 'preamp drive emulator/pedal' instead...it has a mosfet power amp but unfortunately a solid state preamp

@@Farewelltokingz oh otherwise...tone is for days...most 'direct sound' from any amp i previously tried(and i had quite a lot...just no high end ampeg stuff)...what you plug in it, sounds as its meant to sound...just boost the bass to your liking as its not too bottom heavy so i have mine at around 4 o clock...either way...my P bass first sounded like i heared in youtube videos when i plugged into that thing...so i think you'll love it, dispite the lack of an on-board drive

I’m considering getting a TS9B again and using it primarily to boost the amp and just adding enough drive to warm it up. The only thing I don’t like is that it seems to lack a ton of volume albeit I don’t have much use for a ton right now. Perhaps adding a second 15 so I’m getting the full wattage will fix this.

@@xxhell7grinderxx673 pretty big one actually...first lets define the following: -modern PWF1 is basically just a guitar wah, its a really thin sounding, has plenty of treble but not enough mids(part of the range Cliff mostly used) and overall struggles with lower notes and if the tone is beefy...the old Tel Ray from the 70s was a full range(20-20000hz) and was actually useful for both bass and the guitar unlike today ones(despite what Morley says...you CAN plug anything into it, but whether you'll like the result is another pair of shoes) Noteworthy is that while the vintage fuzz was also thin and fizzy you could blend it in with your clean sound unlike todays version(that, and Cliff used PWB with Metallica, he owned PWF way back) -Pro Series II Bass Wah(blue pedal from the 90s) had only one wah 'voice' and one level boost control(can be heared in Pantera-I'll cast a shadow at the breakdown or Kill Devil Hill-Rise from the shadows intro) and that same 'voice' is a 'funk mode' on PBAII Dual Bass Wah(which has two wah voices) which i use for Cliff stuff(black pedal with blue letters) because it exaggerate and pronounce the sweep in the midrange and has enough treble when used with distortion and doesnt struggle in the lowest of notes nor does it lose any bottom The 'regular mode' is closer sounding to all the typical modern Morleys(including PWF1 with a bit less top shirill when fully pressed) but with a much better low end response throughout the sweep Funk mode has much more power to it and swoops the sounds into bwooOOAAaah kind of sweep(same as old Tel Ray did, if you go listen to Jason Newsted For whom the bell tolls from 89 when he plays the part right after the very intro, the 3210 riff, you'll hear what i mean)....that specific factor is what i find to be crucial to allow wah to produce audiable and vocal sweeps on a bass guitar with overdrive post wah in the chain(jason uses it before so he sounds thinner and synth like)...and other than Tel Rays, PBA1 and PBA2 are the only ones i have yet tried that do that, but they dont have as much treble at the full down position(not really necessary as cliff rarely went all the way to the treble range anyhow)...the reissue pwf unfortunately just doesnt cut it, it worked well here, only because i used thin sounding bridge pickup and guitar distortion...but with my bass pedals it just doesnt have the 'power'(funny given its name) and as soon as you step on it all the bottom end is gone Worth a mention is the fact that level control on PBA boosts much more than the same control on PWF1 And once more, Bass Wah is made to work well within low frequencies range(bass, downtuned guitars or low notes on keys/organ) and despite using Cliff's name, PWF1 has nothing to do with Cliff nor bass and is clearly just a shiny tribute guitar pedal for some 60s/70s psychodelic stuff... Yeah...i have recorded(as i always do) with my phone placed in front of the speaker...if not centered properly it tends to do that :/ i dont have the fancy recording equipment so there is that...but glad you like the playing and sound!
Its a 'bees in a tin can' kind of fuzz...works well for some 60s/70s psychodelic guitar...but not really suitable for bass....matter of a fact, neither is the wah...as i said...i still prefer PBA1 and PBA2 over this...this one can hardly produce any scream with bassy tone(especially compared to a full range Tel Ray wah, which was actually suitable for any instrument) but it worked with guitar overdrive well, for this type of sound(as opposed to my usual 86 tone with bass tube screamer and bass wah, where PWF1 just wont cut it) Unfortunately, a pretty pedal with signature stamped on it but not quite the wah that stands up to its name 'Power'...just a simple guitar wah with a lot of treble range And yeah Lenonade and Kety are correct, fuzz is turned off for this i only used TS9 overdrive
@@MilkMaker-ph9dx it doesnt, not compared to the Espace Balard show which was the main inspiration...as i said in the description Lyceum show everyone knows is a direct recording and appears sharper...besides i prefer it this way...i own this bass, precision and Aria Pro II, this one did the best job out of the three and i am more than happy with how it came out

Albeit with a different delay and drive but if you’re interested then I can try doing something for you in a few days. Maybe the cleaner Cliff tone from live at Paris 1983 or whichever one is on deluxe kill em all.

Its a 'bees in a tin can' kind of fuzz...works well for some 60s/70s psychodelic guitar...but not really suitable for bass....matter of a fact, neither is the wah...as i said...i still prefer PBA1 and PBA2 over this...this one can hardly produce any scream with bassy tone(especially compared to a full range Tel Ray wah, which was actually suitable for any instrument) but it worked with guitar overdrive well, for this type of sound(as opposed to my usual 86 tone with bass tube screamer and bass wah, where PWF1 just wont cut it)
Unfortunately, a pretty pedal with signature stamped on it but not quite the wah that stands up to its name 'Power'...just a simple guitar wah with a lot of treble range
And yeah Lenonade and Kety are correct, fuzz is turned off for this i only used TS9 overdrive
It needs more brightness, i think you better use Jazz bass or bass with humbacker in sweet spot.
@@MilkMaker-ph9dx it doesnt, not compared to the Espace Balard show which was the main inspiration...as i said in the description Lyceum show everyone knows is a direct recording and appears sharper...besides i prefer it this way...i own this bass, precision and Aria Pro II, this one did the best job out of the three and i am more than happy with how it came out

@@KeeperOfCliffsToneI’ve also got a Jazz bass and Morley bass wah if you want to hear that. Albeit with a different delay and drive but if you’re interested then I can try doing something for you in a few days. Maybe the cleaner Cliff tone from live at Paris 1983 or whichever one is on deluxe kill em all.
